"We're joining the west!"

...and its refugees, gay parades, globalism, Africanization, deficits, debts, wokeness, pronouns, BLM thugs, Antifa thugs, wars, graffiti, filthy subways,...

Do I miss anything?

Oh, yeah...the disappearing whites.

which brought about a collective nervous breakdown combined with a collective narcissistic wound among the Russian public....

You are just making this sh*it up to say something.

Russia took notice of that "We're joining the west!" because they have the brains to know what's at the end of the process - a hostile country drooling to import NATO to Russia's front door and deny Russia access to their resources as a lever. Duh!

They, the Russians, were happy to see "West" come to them in form of restaurants and car dealers.

all over the moment Putin marched into Ukraine

Trust is built over decades... and can be destroyed in a minute.

I still wonder what took so long, all trust should have been lost in Russia in 2014 and Germany should have started working on alternatives so that if necessary they could turn off the faucet overnight.

But the German political class had other priorities, it seems....

Do I miss anything?

Yeah, but you wouldn't understand (or don't want to understand) so there's no use trying to explain.... although I think it was a triumph that you finally admitted that Ukrainian democracy is better than Russian non-democracy.... baby steps....

Ukraine is taking heavy casualties in the Donbas region.
Ukrainian leaders are warning that the fate of the industrial heartlands in their country's east depends on the amount of Western-supplied heavy weaponry that can be placed on the front lines in Donbas.

I think it's time to send in the French 'Armée de l'Air' for re enforcements.

Then, a few years after that, a red flag was being raised over the Reichstag.

You're too smart not to realise that your victory back then was not only the result of the undeniable resilience of your people and the fact that you were fighting for your very existence, but also the huge assistance in the form of Lend-Lease Act ($180 billion worth of equipment in today's money)...

400,000 jeeps & trucks
14,000 airplanes
8,000 tractors
13,000 tanks
1.5 million blankets
15 million pairs of army boots
107,000 tons of cotton
2.7 million tons of petrol products
4.5 million tons of food

... it helped a little bit, didn't it? And still you paid a huge price of blood for this victory. This time you wouldn't be fighting for your survival but merely for the imperial fantasies of a sick old man, so the morale of your troops would be much lower, and the entire might of western economy and military power would be on Germany's side. I wouldn't try that. Seriously. I understand historical pride and sabre rattling (hey, I'm a Pole :)) but that would be pure stupidity.

Ukraine is taking heavy casualties in the Donbas region.

Perhaps, but the map of frontlines looks boringly the same every time I check it in recent weeks...

liveuamap.com/pl

... and casualties are mutual, with still 3-1 ratio in Ukraine's favour.

Poland is acquiring a new national narrative "We're protecting western values!"

It's hardly new, Maf. Poland has always seen herself as the Bulwark of Christendom and defender of the West.

When the Russians liberate their historical, cultural and spiritual center Kiev, Danilko will be able to dance in Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, London. Kiev will be a free and healthy city.

but also the huge assistance in the form of Lend-Lease Act

Yes, and no. When the war for the Germans became very bad, there was still no Lend Lease. Without Lend Lease, perhaps the war would drag into '46, but it certainly was not the deciding factor in stopping the Germans under Moscow in 1941 or in Stalingrad '42-43. This was almost purely a Soviet effort.

and casualties are mutual, with still 3-1 ratio in Ukraine's favour.

This Washington Post article says Ukraine is losing more than Russians. 200 people a day killed now - up from a 100 just a few weeks ago. This number translates to a total of 1000 casualties daily.

This was almost purely a Soviet effort.

Even if it was so, then there is no real comparison to present situation...

a) Russian Federation is no Soviet Union in military terms (and the war in Ukraine shows it)
b) it's not about not having Lend-Lease, it's about it being entirely on your opponents side
c) demographically it would be a suicide (Poland and Germany put together almost equal Russia in population), and the entire NATO dwarfs Russia

... and the most important question: what's the point? Today when we know, from the mouth of Putin himself, that it's about nothing else but idiotic imperial conquest, it should be a wake-up call for Russian people. Apparently it isn't. Mind boggles.

This Washington Post article says Ukraine is losing more than Russians.

Fog of war, I suppose; different sources reporting different losses. So it's better to just watch the frontlines - and they are pretty much frozen recently, so it can't be that bad.

@GefreiterKania

Point is that as you point out we are hopelessly small when it comes to muscle, despite all the claims that we have all the resources we could ever need. Ukraine is a former muscle which received disproportionate investment and then decided it wanted to be transplanted into another body. Probably even after Ukraine we will be relatively much weaker for some considerable time. However, at least it lays a foundation for some kind of a recovery and sets a good precedent for the Georgias and Azerbaijans of the world regarding where the wind is blowing from. Because... you know... as Asiatics that's the only language they really understand too.

transvestite and former eurovision participant Danilko

He's not in fact a transvestite. Verka Serduszka is a character he plays. Perhaps you also think that Lord Olivier really was a Nazi dentist and that Mark Hamill really does have a light sabre.

Not that it would be a problem for anyone if he was

Not is it an issue here. After all, we don't expect either truth or common sense from you.

This number translates to a total of 1000 casualties daily.

So time for russia to withdraw its illegal and unprovoked invasion.

The one with massacre civilians and rape of children. The one you come here to try and defend.

understand historical pride and sabre rattling (hey, I'm a Pole :))

I don't think it has anything to do with being a Pole or not. It has more to do with trauma of the last war and a blind emulation of some pre-war attitudes.

When the Russians liberate their historical, cultural and spiritual center Kiev,

Kiev is not their historcial, nor cultural nor spirtural center and never was. What kind of total nonsense you are spewing? Why don't you claim that Kiev is Serbia and Serbia Kiev? Maybe little green people from Mars are Russians.. lol! You people from the Balkans are derailed mentaly or you just say anything.

By the way Ukrainins need that help right now. West should step up a tad. To the level they helped Soviest during the WWII.

industrial heartlands in their country's east

It's no longer any kind of industrial heartland and won't be for many years, Russia is essentially bombing everything and leveling every building. It will take years to just clear away the rubble...

That's Russkij Mir that they're so proud of, rubble and poverty and disease and death... That'ss all that Russia has ever offered Ukraine, yet the idea that it is a separate country that does not want close association with them drives them to blind fury....

Quite mentally ill....

European values. What to say, slava Ukraini!

Exactly! Verka is a comedy act not a political treatise.... Russia and its mentally.... stunted allies have no joy of life, only aggression and cynicism.

it lays a foundation for some kind of a recovery and sets a good precedent for the Georgias and Azerbaijans of the world

Hmm... so that's the way Russians see it. It's a huge miscalculation in my opinion but we will have to wait and see who was right. It took a painful defeat and complete abandoning of military conquest fantasies for Germany to become a rich and modern country. Perhaps that's what Russia needs too.

Believe it or not but I do not wish Russia or her people ill. That's why I think the defeat in Ukraine would be very healthy for you (maybe not right away, but definitely in the long run).

Believe it or not but I do not wish Russia or her people ill

I'm way past that. I can deal with individuals in real life (as long as they're not zhopniks) but for me, the whole country could all burn down and I wouldn't walk across the street to p}ss on it....

They've worked hard and long to make sure that they have no friends or allies (just the way they like it).

GefreiterKania

the whole country could all burn down and I wouldn't walk across the street to p}ss on it...

I'm quite sure you don't really mean it, Maf. Of course, military invasion causes fear and aggression, as well as breeds hatred (very often incurable, especially in those who lose their loved ones). My initial reaction was also one of fear-caused aggression. Now, it's more like a quiet acceptance of what might come and the sacrifice that may be required of us.

If we have to fight, kill and die, we will fight, kill and die. Not because we hate our enemies (hatred is ultimately pointless), but because we love our families and friends. I know it's an old and tired platitude but a good soldier doesn't hate what's in front of him - he loves what's behind him.

democracies cannot be measured

Of course they can, unless you want to say that North Korea is no more democratic than South Korea.....

Is D worth dying for?

The US only exists because lots of people died for D.... if you despise them you should move to Russia since you love Putin's zhopa so much.

Or you're just a garden variety hypocrite and user, who takes from society and gives back nothing.

You have asked everyone?

pawian
11 Jun 2022  #4703

everyone

I don`t need to ask everywone coz Poland is a democratic country and the majority rulez. Ha! That is why I deliberately skip nationalists, the only group which still miss Great Poland with its ex eastern territories, who have about 5% support and don`t count. So, I can say again - Poles don`t want Lviv and will never want.

I can imagine that now you are going to start a huge debate in your Kremlin propaganda circles how to increase that 5% to 50 or even more. hahahaha What strategy are you going to adopt? hahahaha

Russia is obviously winning. They have taken the capital in 3 days, disabled the whole millitary in hours. They only fight a couple of nationalist batalions and will take Lviv in a matter of days. Poland next!!!111

Darling, the only group or party which suggests the return of Polish rule over eastern territories is the nationalists. They regularly collect about 5% in elections. Do you think you can make it higher through your RuSSist propaganda???? :):)

putin had to invade because Ukraine was fiercely refusing to let go of the separatist republics and that is why it will voluntary and happily cede its western territories to Poland
