@Velund
And the issue with Ukraine mining to keep invading forces out is what exactly? Maybe you forget Russian booby trapping bodies with mines at the start of the war when you were stopped from getting Kiev? As you say, its war right?

twitter.com/Ukraine66251776/status/1536990405006397442

Unfortunately for you, that is fake news. No secondary explosions reported. Just a warehouse with nothing in it. Congratulations, you win for being most incompetent military outside of Africa. Bravo.

@gregy741
And the Pentagon has zero investigators on the ground. But the UN is investigating war crimes while the Pentagon can not physically do it, and the UN has been finding evidence. Now, if you can pry your lips off Putins @$$ for a while you might want to breath a bit and get some oxygen to your brain for a change.

Look for one if you're so interested. There has been ample coverage in the media.

russian consider eastern Ukraine as their country, why are they destroying it

Have people been paying attention to Peter Zeihan?

Listened to several interview the other day and he has a particular take which explains lots of things that other models don't....

biggest takeaways:

The war is based on 19th century (or older) ideas of Russian self-defence about sealing off 9 entry points for invasions into the core Russian lands. The soviet Union controlled all 9 and post-Soviet Russia controls one.... Putin (with a mind stuck two centuries in the past) is trying to systematically get them back. The public rhetoric is just camouflage to tell people why they should support / not oppose him.

Putin started it now because time is running out due to Russia's catastrophic demographics (the idea this was the last possible moment before the country gets too old to field a credible army)

He claims Russia is not looking primarily to run large parts of Ukraine but rather to _depopulate_ them which explains lots of their policies better than most other anlyses so read that again a few times... Mariupol will not be rebuilt except as a shell of itself with a fraction of the previous number of inhabitants, same goes for Donbas and any region that falls to Russian aggression.

NATO has nothing to do with it as the thing NATO could have done to prevent this was give Russia military control of a bunch of countries with combined population far greater than that of Russia (including Turkey....)

He also says that if Russia isn't stopped it's going to do the same thing in other places (Baltics, Moldova and Poland roughly in that order) But whatever Russia will ultimately fail to cratering fertility and the fact that they can't run anything without foreign expertise and/or equipment. (his forecast for China is even worse....)

He misses a few things but he makes more sense than anything the Putin flvffers here put out....

9 entry points for invasions into the core Russian lands

What are those points?

(Baltics, Moldova and Poland roughly in that order)

The order is wrong - if they attack the Baltics that automatically means war with Poland, so there won't be time for Moldova in between. Russians used a huge part of their material reserves, which bought us a lot of time (and the war with Ukraine isn't over yet). By the time they regain enough strength to attack us, we'll be more than ready. The clash of Polish and Russian armies doesn't worry me that much, it would be 1920 all over again (only this time they wouldn't get as far as Warsaw). Plus, we have quite a sizeable American contingent in Poland to help us repel the aggressors. The only problem that I can see is that when they realise they can't beat us in conventional war, some maniac will press the button. There's no point, however, worrying about things we can't do anything about, so what Poland needs to do (and exactly what she is doing) is to prepare the strongest defences possible - two additional divisions are being formed in central Poland, volunteers are enlisting for basic military training, sh*tloads of artillery and tanks is being bought. This time God has given us time that we didn't have in 1939.

Putin started it now because time is running out due to Russia's catastrophic demographics

It's hard to take this seriously. Russia's demographics are not great, but better on average than in the EU-28. Describing them as catastrophic, would mean Europe is undergoing some kind of extinction. The "medium" forecasts out to the year 2100, put Russia at 120M or so. Still comfortably the largest country in Europe.

Of course, by this time Nigeria will be larger than the United States, and Congo not far behind. Ethiopia at 200M+, and Tanzania somewhere crazy high as well. Nonetheless, I believe Russia is supposed to still be in the top 15 globally at that time. Also, who knows what immigration patterns will look like then.

Looking at the statistics for males reaching military age annually in Russia, it's about 600K. Total amount of males in the 20-35 age group is around 14.25M. This number is projected to decrease to 12.9M by 2050. It's a lot less people, but not enough to suddenly make the difference between being able to wage war and not.

There's some ways to fix this situation too, without looking for immigrants from far afield. The easiest is to make military service more attractive through salary increases, additional benefits, tax breaks, education grants, etc. Then, another option is that the duration of conscription service can be returned to two years from the current one. Modern weapons demand extended training, and due to the short conscription term, it means that in many cases conscripts are only combat ready for a few months. If they were around for two years, generals would have a lot more trained men to work with. Though there are less and less conscripts in the military, this would still represent a meaningful addition of manpower.

The third option, which is really not very desirable given Russia's specific cultural views on this - would be to allow women to take on increasing roles in the military. Russia is very far behind the United States in terms of the percentage of women in its armed forces (currently only 5% female), not to say anything about comparisons with Israel.

if they attack the Baltics that automatically means war with Poland

and NATO which would mean the obliteration of Russia (and/or nuclear war....)

Taken together, flagging war in Ukraine (he doesn't care about Ukraine at all it's about the Polish and Moldovan borders) and recent Peter the Great comments he seems to be redirecting toward the Baltics...

No one said Putin is rational or acting in a sane manner just that there is an internal logic operating which will be catastrophic for Russia.

Ask your overlords not to delay, troll. They are the aggressors, not Poland.

i have my popcorn ready.

You have your vaseline and b*tthole ready for your Russian masters, pedrylu żelazny. :)

2100, put Russia at 120M

How many of them Slavic people? We all know that muslims (in Russia and elsewhere) breed at a very hight rate, but they don't necessarily make either loyal citizens or good soldiers.

Still comfortably the largest country in Europe.

The point is that against either EU or NATO you are not dealing with single countries, and both these blocks dwarf Russia in all respects.

Cut down on excessive quotes please

Describing them as catastrophic

Catastrophic in terms of fielding an army.... Russian military "strategy" has always been based on sacrificing vast numbers of young men and... there ain't so many of them around (and will be fewer and fewer).

out looking for immigrants from far afield. The easiest is to make military service more attractive through salary increases

This would require total restructuring of the Russian military (whcih would require total restructuring of Russian society)... I'm totally in favor of that but it's not very likely.... Russian institutional culture is.... not great....

Bobko
16 Jun 2022  #5121

@GefreiterKania

Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Tengriists - they are all Russian. But to your question, I don't know. The Muslims don't actually "breed" at any crazy rate, just slightly higher than Russians, and not even all of them. Tatars, our largest Muslim group, are actually declining rapidly. Perhaps this is because Tatars mostly live in large cities, whereas Dagestanis, which are still growing, are more rural.

In general, I'm in what I suspect is a minority of Russians that wants as much immigration as possible. I think Velund may likely not agree with me here, but I sincerely believe that Russia needs as much people as possible and it doesn't matter what quality. It doesn't matter because we'll make good Russians out of their kids. Russia has a huge sex ratio disbalance. Millions more women, than we have men. Better for Russia if they stay home, and marry an immigrant, than move abroad and become lost to Russia forever.

I know personally, a migrant family that moved from southern Kyrgyzstan to Sakhalin on Russia's pacific coast to work in the crab fishing industry. The parents are barely able to string together a sentence in Russian, but their wonderful kids (who were born in Russia), speak perfect unaccented Russian, and think of Kyrgyzstan only as a place they visit on vacation to see grandma. I'm quite happy with this outcome. Everyone involved wins, except for the "Russia for Russians" idiots who will destroy our country if they have their way.

Well, now I am impressed once again. You read Yerofeev? I am... breathless.

Stop sending weapons to Ukraine, and maybe we could be great drinking buddies)

Jesus, this is terrifying. It resembles Stalinist methods or what Gestapo was doing to Poles. I hate those orcs. F*cking psychos.

I pray that Ukraine will prevail and win with this evil.

goodvsevil

Good psycho Putinists and future war criminals, you mean :(

This is as likely to happen as Putin withdrawing his army from Ukraine out of his own free will and Russia paying for all the death, misery and destruction that your army has brought to that country.

Stalinist

It's exactly that with a dose of gestapo and China too. Trying to erase people's identity through brutality.

Meanwhile in the real world...

Another addition to the LNR military tribunals. This time, a couple of American mercenaries are at risk of going there. Alexander Druk, 39, and former Marine Andy Huhne, 27, went to a foreign country to kill people, just like their British brothers in mind. The White House has already announced that, using the example of this pair of freelance shooters, they urge all other U.S. citizens to lay down their arms and get out not only of the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but also of Ukraine. It's understandable, because people in the U.S. are much more reverent about any information that their fellow citizens have been sentenced to be shot or hanged somewhere. 😏

I suspect that this time the foreign mercenaries will be tried by the LNR tribunal, but it will take place just as soon as in the DNR. There, as we remember, it took a week for everything.

In general, the Brits, and now the Americans as well, have to thank Zelensky, who loves the hype, for this rapidity of death sentences. It was he who first decided to hold a show trial of members of the Russian army for some violation of the principles of warfare and sentenced them to the capital punishment to the approving hooting of the Western media. Boomerangs do tend to come back. 🪃

By the way, did you all notice that Zelensky doesn't judge any more of the captured Russian soldiers? Why? Did a gentle dispatch fly from Russia to London and the U.S. warning that if the abuse of Russian POWs continues, Russia will not be able to help its esteemed Western partners in their requests to influence the LNR, and they will inadvertently carry out the sentence? What a horror for a domestic audience. And how many more of those mercenaries from Western countries can be captured or are already sitting there quietly waiting for their fate... It's frustrating, though. 🥺

PS: Locals told that there is 200+ foreigners in a group blocked in Azot plant, and most of them is Poles.

Korvinus
16 Jun 2022  #5129

and most of them is Poles

Russians have already killed a 20k of Polish officers.
