I didn't articulate that well, at all. The eastern uke civil war is a Russian-backed operation as a response to the Maidan. The invasion of Uke is an extension of that operation. Bottom line is Russia wants to control Uke. It's seems absolutely obvious to me that this is about imperial conquest. I think this conquest is about the Russian sense of geographical security.

All of the talk about Russia as defender of traditional Christian values, protection of Russian-speaking Ukes, etc is nonsense propaganda to my mind.

Yes, but realistically should this "geographical security" really be a genuine concern in the age of nuclear weapons? Who's going to invade Russia these days (from any geographical direction)? It would be a suicide.
