Even the most modern T-72's don't stand a chance to new generation tanks like the M1 Abrams or Leopard 2 (Poland won't give those up of course, nor should they). Even against light armored IFV like the Bradley the Lion of Babylon T-72's fared terribly.

Russia is using the same "throw **** at the wall, see what sticks" tactics as WW2. That's why they're suffering such heavy losses against a two bit army. They'll meet most of their objectives in the long run simply because they have far more resources than Ukraine. They're trying to turn Ukraine into a landlocked country and seize control from Donbass all the way to Transnistria with Odessa being the hardest.

I do feel sorry for the people in this conflict on both sides. I'm sure even the people in places like Kharkiv, Donbas, Donetsk, etc. who supported Putin and Russia changed their mind after their whole city got destroyed.

Poland isn't going to give away it's best tanks. They're going to keep the Leapord and I highly doubt the T-72's they did give them were of the modern PT-91 "Twardy" modern version. They gave them tanks that were going to end up in the scrap yard soon anyway.


First off, it's a mesh that's supposed to protect the turret where armor is thinner against RPGs and such. NATO forces put them on their vehicles also in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. Also, most of the time it's the tank's crew that weld them on, not the factory. Nothing is going to protect against a rocket hitting the engine and fuel though where that tank clearly got hit.

It's just the problem of quantity at the moment. Ukris are being trained on mass in western countries to use western tech and will be ready to kick ass shortly.
