Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 2

Crnogorac3

I hope Russia is destroyed once and for all. Russian mentality and political tradition has no place in a modern day society.

History does nothing but repeat itself in Russia and its always has a negative result. Sorry, but its Russia that needs elimination

PolAmKrakow comrade, you have mental health problems. You need to fix it, even before you talked about the slaughter of Russian civilians. That's not what a normal mind says... you should admit that you suffer from PTSD, that's why I say for you it is best to go on a vacation, in nature, taking walks outside and all that... let go of the Russians, Commies, Ukronazis, Banderists, wars and all that.

this greeting is analogous to `Hail Hitler!` in the region

Only for the insane.... I'm not insane so it doesn't mean that at all....

I'd like to hear what people think about this. Possible/Impossible? Desirable/Undesirable?

Impossible. It's a Russian way of thinking, not a Polish way. It's an imperialist mentality that has been absent from Europe for almost a hundred years. No civilised, modern European country is interested in empire building or regaining old territories, especially those in poor, undeveloped, post-communist countries, and certainly not those who are currently occupied by an invading army.

Different countries accused, but both EU and both NATO.

Hungary is only EU in the loosest sense of the word. If it were possible to kick them out of the EU, it would be on the cards by now. Unfortunately we're stuck with them.

Are you aware this greeting is analogous to `Hail Hitler!` in the region.

No, it isn't. The greeting "Слава Україні!" (Glory to Ukraine!) predates Bandera and the times of World War II. The response "Героям Слава!" (Glory to heroes!) came later and I guess it's more controversial, but I can't say it bothers me these days, especially in the context of what's going on in Ukraine - Ukrainians are truly heroes, fighting bravely for their country, so they deserve such a greeting.

Unfortunately we're stuck with them.

And this is a dilemma. We also underestimate the level of russian influence in Slovakia and Italy.

predates Bandera

Indeed, just as Ukrainian as a modern written language predates russian!

And moan though I do, nobody ever mentions Surzhyk.

*knocks on wood*

Me too, though touching rather than the more American knocking.

I've a gut feeling that the next few weeks will be critical for all of us.

Unfortunately we're stuck with them.

Wait till you meet Ukraine. It will be your favorite new EU member, if you keep your promises - that is. Then Hungary will seem like Luxembourg, and Romania like Denmark.

Here's the recipe if one wants to prepare a Ukraine. Step one: mix Hungarian and Polish ingratitude for EU development funds, with PIIGS attitude towards debt forgiveness and a bloated state apparatus. Sprinkle a little bit of Balkan and Turkish mafia flavors for taste, garnish with French belief in own galactic importance, and plate with a rusted sickle and hammer - voila you can now taste Ukraine for yourself.

Once the cute ladies and babies are gone, and the romance of war is replaced with the grinding job of reconstruction - you'll know what great partners you have acquired.

that opportunity to replace him and try to save face.

That would be an excellent opportunity for him to bow out of the mess he created.
Just fade off into the sunset and only show up once a year at the Commie hero's parade.
I am sure all the Russian families that lost their husbands, sons and grandsons will show up to cheer him while riding in his bullet proof car.

An interesting and rather surprising voice coming from Austria in this regard:

I'm now cheering for this Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs :) Smart guy. He's thinking ahead.

Another fire in Russia:

🤷

"Before Russia attacked, we made sure Russia had Javelins and other weapons."

Fortunately those Javelins got into Ukraine, not into Russia, as Russian tanks can testify :))

Grandpa Bidon is again losing it.

Not as much as Putin - Biden isn't invading and occupying US' neighbour as we speak and isn't threatening other countries with nuclear war.

And WTF is Russia compared to Ukraine? The wild west filled with gangsters and small time criminals. It is a country without toilets, and that says all you need to know about how Russia is.

You poor fool. I suffer from nothing but an itchy trigger finger. Go get an education.

The former Polish Foreign Minister has criticized Germany's attitude towards the Ukraine crisis.
"Germany is losing a lot in the eyes of the whole of central Europe by its inaction, which is becoming pathetic,"
Meanwhile the sanctions are starting to work as Russia's largest shipping group is being forced to sell 40 of it's 121 ships to repay loans ahead of a Western sanctions deadline.

the pope is very Jesuit left wing, having grown up seeing the poverty in his home country, he allows stunts like this to happen.

Yes, most of south and central America know what happens when you vote contrary to the wishes of the Empire. Most of humanity doesnt care about the war in Ukraine but if they did think about it would probably agree that Putin should be joined in the dock by Bush and Blair.

Edit
Putin should not have invaded even directly after the Coup.

If you saw all the Ukrainian flags that are flying in the State that I live in, you may question that.

Who is criticizing what exactly?

johnny reb
4 May 2022  #917

I will quote what I read for you, Tac

Sikorski, the former head of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense, was asked about his words more than a decade ago: "I am not afraid of Germany, but of its inactivity".

"I have the impression that these words are current, because it is precisely Germany that is inactive, while it should set an example of how to help the victim of aggression," he replied.

Wait till you meet Ukraine.

I do know something about Ukraine and before this war it was making improvements but was nowhere being near ready for EU membership. Unfortunately, they are now decimated, their country torn apart both literally and figuratively and they're even less ready for EU membership. But, it's now in the interests of the EU to get them on board for Europe's security. Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if Ukraine had been an EU country. Russia won't go to war with the EU because it's de facto going to war with NATO and I don't think Putin wants that.

Once the cute ladies and babies are gone,

I would hope that those of us who are normal human beings would have empathy with the suffering of others, but for me, ultimately it's about a nation's right to be a nation, to their own self-determination and freedom. That's why I support Ukraine.

TODAYS NEWS:
Sikorski: Germany's inactivity is becoming pathetic

Hey Tac, do you know how to Google this.

jon357

And apparently Mali needs to be 'denazified' too.

One of the least densely populated places in the world and a nice place.

Russia seem to be up to something there. When I was in and close to the Sahel region in a sensitive but wonderful place (for the 3 years up to Covid) I noticed a few very strange things including fairly transparent russian espionage.

An interesting thing is what will happen now the vagnerovtsi are being redeployed in the Donbas. First they were replaced by Syrians, now, even that is stopping.

Last month I noticed somewhere else in Africa a group of fairly rough looking Serbian speakers staying in a hotel together. Ex-military however none of them looked under 60. Either russia are scraping the bottom of the barrel or it's just a contracting company desperate to fulfil their contract. They were en-route somewhere, possibly the Malian border.

This war really will make some big geopolitical and economic changes. I hope they are to Poland's and the UK's advantage.

johnny reb
4 May 2022  #926

Either russia are scraping the bottom of the barrel

Oh they are.
They are running out of cannon fodder.
That is why on May 9th Putin will declare war on Ukraine, instead of calling it a special operation which would allow him to call up thousands of reserves like Crnogorac3.

No wait, Crnogorac3 is not Russian is he ?
I think NATO should just arm Ukraine with a couple hundred nukes, based in NATO countries, and get it over with.

Tacitus
4 May 2022  #927

these words are current,

Well, they are either current or accurate, but not both. If he said them today, they would be wrong in light of the substancial German support for Ukraine. If he said them 2 months ago then they had some degree of truth, but they would be outdated for the current situation.

jon357
4 May 2022  #928

running out of cannon fodder

There are so many problems with doing a GM. It will also allow Ukraine to legally go on the offensive in russian territory.

these words are current

They are. Reported today even.

Russia's insanity grows by the day - I wonder if their parade will go ahead in Mariupol on 9th May? The idea of having a parade to mark the end of WWII in a city where they've been raging a war against the population, where two thirds of the townspeople have fled in terror and some remain in hiding underground .............. macabre doesn't even begin to sum it up.

Tacitus
4 May 2022  #930

Would be interesting to know what else Germany should do in his opinion.

It doesn't reflect well on his judgement in any case.
