What a load of BS!

A new victim today to attack ?

he is an idiot who knows how to listen to experts unlike Trump who is also an idiot and didn't listen to the experts.

Very well put PolAm !
In Ukraine the American experts have beaten Putin to every punch so far.
Hopefully, somehow, the world will make Russia pay to totally rebuild Ukraine when it is over.
For a start, All of Putin's $80 billion should be seized and given to Ukraine for a gesture of poetic justice.

So, who is kicking whose ass?

Maybe we define ass kicking differently, I define it as a decisive beating of another . To answer your question: I'd say they are both landing strong punches. What your maps don't show is the ruin within the cities that were once encircled.

The Ukes are performing very well, but they are also suffering serious damage. It's not only Uke who is throwing walloping punches-the Russians are too.

It's obvious something isn't right with the Russian military. They are not fighting like a world military power. They are suffering heavy losses-it's kind of shocking. But, they are also creating a lot of destruction.

Personally, I think Uke is going to win this thing, but I don't think their victory is a foregone conclusion. Things can change.

find a way to live with Russia down the line once this war ends

Exactly!!!! I have a feeling that the long knives of retribution will be out, though. I just hope it's not a replay of WWI's Versailles that creates something more terrible than what we have today.

Ukrainian soldiers reached the border with Kharkov. Or the border comes to Ukrainian soldiers?

Al Jazeera's Assed Baig (reputable journalistic source), reporting from near Kharkiv, says the battle for control of the city has been "won by the Ukrainians".

"When we first came to Kharkiv [a month ago] we couldn't enter without wearing body armour, the streets were empty and there was constant firing and shelling going on all around us," Baig said.

"Now people have returned, people are outside, and some cafes and restaurants have opened up. Today is also the first day that public transport is running," he added.

"People are walking their dogs and riding their bikes - the atmosphere has completely changed and that's because the Ukrainians have managed to push the Russians further away [from the city]."

Chances are that we will get something more in-line with your thinking than not. Which, IMO, will increase a stronger alliance between Russia and China, which has already been strengthened over the past few years.

DNR

No no such thing.

hits a "bullseye

Perhaps we should look at facts rather than fiction. Forget all your fake news, forget propaganda, forget what you read online. Or perhaps look at the news with a bit of critical thinking.

You have to read between the lines don't you... subtle signals like a dozen Russian Generals being killed, Boris Johnson being able to walk through the streets of Kyiv, the mysterious missing fly-past at the 9 May Parade (bad weather on a day with good weather?), countless sackings and the imprisonment of many senior Kremlin figures and of course the Moskva sinking because of "bad weather". And that's before you start to actually look at how egregiously badly the Russian forces are performing on the ground.

How many troops and tanks have they lost now?

How well or badly did they do in their aim to take Kyiv and Kharkiv?

@AntV
I disagree. China has not helped Russia during this war. They want a weaker Russia and then they will go after Siberia. China is playing a much longer game than the west. They are playing a game that ends in 100 years, not next year, and then it will be China and the West, with Africa as the new conquest. China has no love or need for anything Russian other than Russian natural resources.

Ukraine now sets the standard for countries that think they can go in with a military force and take over. The west is allowing and supporting Ukraine with arms to beat the Russians, and killing the Russians financially. The financial field is the next war field, and China is well positioned for that. Russia is the worst positioned.

The ridiculous Gonzaga Lira. A notoriously pro-russian 'manosphere' youtuber who pretends to be in Kharkiv.

In mid-February 2022 Lira said that "no one over the age of 12 or with an IQ over 90 seriously believes that the Russians are going to invade [Ukraine] anytime soon".

Enough said.

Ukrainian troops have reached the state border east of Kharkiv. Congratulations to the pro-Ukrainian commentariat!

Strange why they stopped their advance and are instead busy engaging in selfies next to border marker posts. Official Ukrainian explanation is that there is concern that pushing into Russia will provoke an official declaration of war. Why the hesitance? I thought the "Special Military Operation" was an inside Russian joke? Is this not, in the end, a war?

mafketis
16 May 2022  #2113

trange why they stopped their advance

Just like a Russian to not understand that other countries aren't as eager to invade and inflict destruction as they are.

Ukraine has no territorial ambitions against Russia (though they could make a case for the Kuban....).

Peaceful existence in less than optimal borderrs is superior to invading and causing suffering and destruction.

Maybe someday everyday Russians will be able to grasp this simple truth.... or maybe..... not...

Ukraine has no territorial ambitions against Russia

Exactly. They are only defending their homeland from invaders and aren't aggressors themselves. Very smart move by Ukrainians - it will make them look even better in the eyes of the world :)

Very smart move by Ukrainians

The media are reporting that they've lost 33% of their orc invasion troops, up from 25% last month.

Th8ngs now seem to be moving very fast indeed. The loss of orc military strength is not a linear line. The more they lose, the quicker they'll lose the rest. An army that has lost 40% of its force in an invasion has essentially lost its war.

Sooner or later, russia will have to accept this.

16 May 2022  #2116

Strange why they stopped their advance

Invading Russia seems unappealing: there is nothing there worth fighting for.

Maybe they could go and drop off some washing machines? They should film it and call it a special humanitarian operation.

Every Russian soldier that deserts and gives himself up to Ukrainian army should be given a washing machine. Once they start dropping such leaflets over Dumbass and Luganda capitulation is going to be inevitable.

I wonder at which point the Russians will give up, if they do. They lost over 20 million during WW2 and celebrate that figure. I don't think some 20k dead is going to set them back all that much. The Russians can afford to lose troops, the Ukrainians not so much.

Which curiously why are there little to no reports on Ukrainian casualties? I've seen a lot of reports on Ukranian civilian deaths, but not si much military. Even in that case the UN claims there's many more civilian deaths than the official Ukranian number. I only saw one fairly recent report (about 3-4 weeks old) where a US intelligence estimated 5k to 11k dead Ukranian military.

Invading Russia seems unappealing: there is nothing there worth fighting for.

Yes yes, this is what we keep hearing for the last thousand years.

Rabid Banderists would beg to differ. They tell us that the Chinese are sharpening their blades for a "reconquest" of "rightfully" Chinese Siberia. This, even though China never controlled Siberia. They say we will break up into dozens of little republics, as the prison of peoples will collapse. Japan will take the Kurils, Germany will take Prussia, Finland will take Karelia, and so on and so forth.

They come up with fake quotes from Madeleine Albrite regarding how it is unfair that such a small population occupies such a disproportionate share of resources necessary to the "good" part of the world.

This feeds our orcish paranoia. Personally I think these are the fever dreams of a bankrupt Ukrainian, grasping at the last straw. Waiting for the fragmentation of Russia is a Ukrainian national pastime since 1654.

You are probably the dumbest Russian I have ever seen on the internet. Your propaganda is useless here. There is no venue for you here to turn minds. You have three or four little pathetic losers who will side with you, and thats it. Russia against the world on a smaller scale.

Russia continue to lose. Every day more loses. Russians are getting killed by a ten to one margin. That is not only losing, that is getting your a$$ kicked on a scale that most would call unsustainable. Then again, ever dead Russian is a good Russian, so please continue to die.

Umm... You must be projecting. Russians made up this quote from Madeleine Albright and Putin kept repeating it until the Russian society believed that she said that. I even posted an article about it on this thread.

Yes, russia is certainly paranoid. Mind you, they've a lot to worry about since they're losing so badly.

Is that a bad idea?

As I posted further up this page, losses are not linear: they increase exponentially as russia is exhausted.

slava piwnica!!!

Russia continue to lose. Every day more loses. Russians are getting killed by a ten to one margin

It's more like a high of 4 to 1 to low of 2 to 1, US sources say 5k to 10k dead Ukranians, 20k Russian. Roughly the same as the eastern theater during WW2 which the Russians triumphed in the end. Russia can sustain those losses, Ukraine cannot.

Same thing with Vietnam War or even more recently Afghanistan... US cried uncle after 50k dead, North Vietnam lost a million... Afghanistan 3k coalition troops, some 50 60k Taliban...

@Dirk diggler
Keep reading the news. I actually talk to soldiers in the know. One of the perks of living in Krakow right now. Russia has most losses than the US has in 20 years in the middle east. I trust my soldiers training the Ukraine forces and they say ten to one. But go ahead and trust news sources because they are so often accurate. Sources saying closer to 40K Russian dead. Thats in less than three months. Incompetent is an understatement, and calling them retards is an insult to actual retards.

Dirk diggler
16 May 2022  #2125

Keep reading the news. I actually talk to soldiers in the know.

Ask them how many ukranian soldiers have died because that's hardly reported on in the west. they're constantly talking about russian figures and occasionally ukranian civilian figures, but never are ukranian military losses mentioned.

That 40k figure is way too high. That's even more than the ukranian government is claiming and of course each side tends to claim a lower figure for their own losses, higher figure for enemy losses. According to intercepted phone calls from russian soldiers, US/UK intel, NGOs, etc. the most recent figures were all around the 20-25k area.

16 May 2022  #2126

Russia can sustain those losses, Ukraine cannot.

You are daydreaming against reality. RuSSia can`t sustain those losses coz Putin is afraid of home disturbances if he declares total mobilisation. Already two dozen conscript recruiting commands have been burnt in RuSSia.

While Ukraine can mobilise a million or two freely coz it is their holy war for the independence and very existence of their motherland.

Paulina
16 May 2022  #2130

Roughly the same as the eastern theater during WW2 which the Russians triumphed in the end.

At that time the Soviet Union was allied with the West. It isn't these days. And even then:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

"Despite superior military strength, especially in tanks and aircraft, the Soviet Union suffered severe losses and initially made little headway. The League of Nations deemed the attack illegal and expelled the Soviet Union from the organisation."

This fragment sounds familiar too, doesn't it?:

"The Soviets made several demands, including that Finland cede substantial border territories in exchange for land elsewhere, claiming security reasons-primarily the protection of Leningrad, 32 km (20 mi) from the Finnish border. When Finland refused, the Soviets invaded. Most sources conclude that the Soviet Union had intended to conquer all of Finland, and use the establishment of the puppet Finnish Communist government"

it is their holy war for independence.

Exactly, it's Ukrainians' otechestvennaya voyna. And since Ukrainians stopped at the Russian border Putin can't claim the same.
