Exactly! Polish lands that were under the Russian partition deteriorated. It's enough to compare the number of train tracks in different parts of Poland - Western partitions vs Russian one. In contrary to what Bobko thinks, Polish lands were just neglected outskirts of a Russian empire.

I don't "love" Putin. Rather, I respect what he's done for Russia, especially how he's turned it around since Yeltsin. Incomes soared, the economy diversified, order was restored, and now he's even managed to add more land to the country. GDP went down from an all time high around 2013/2014 to where Russia overtook Italy, then it slumped because of the war which resulted in Russia gaining more territory which is an extremely valuable long term investment and definitely worth the dip in 2015, and then proceeded to go up in the years after until this war broke out again. And just as in 2014, a brief dip in GDP is worth gaining additional land, especially when it's a very strategically important piece of land.

One Polish police officer noticed that Polish anti-vaccine Facebook groups after the invasion on Ukraine turned into anti-Ukraine/anti-Ukrainian refugee groups. I'm not sure what to make of this... I'd say that there are elements of both. Malign state actors like Iran, russia, China, various political groups and financial investors with serious funding for online stuff as well as useful idiots, all feeding of one another.

People so,E times underestimate the role of China in this too. There's very little that they aren't somehow involved in. The thing you've mentioned about anti-vax accounts on Facebook turning into pro-russia ones is also mirrored on Twitter.

Most people don't have opnions on their own, they accept the opinions of some group they belong to.

A big chunk of those on the right have accepted the idea "Putin is a supporter of traditional Christian vaues!" and so automatically try to justify anything he does (even though nothing that he does is very conservative or Christian).

Others form their opinions either on the basis of conformity (everybody thinks this, so so do I!) or opposition (everybody thinks this so I think the opposite!).

I try to form my opinions independently on any particular issues...

For example, I not an "anti-vaxxer" but I do think the mrna vaccines for covid failed at everything but very short term amelioration for some high risk patients.

On the other hand, that doesn't preclude me from understanding that Putin's mad war is not only doomed, but also terrible policy and bad for many countries (beyond Russia and Ukraine) and should be opposed with all necessary force.

Similarly I support gay rights and same-sex marriage but I'm absolutely against medical interventions for 'trans children' and against trans women competing against biological women in sports.

I'm against large scale migration to Europe from the Middle East and Africa because it's been tried for decades and doesn't work (in improving the lives of the citizenry or the migrants).
