Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 2

Bratwurst Boy

and it's clear that Russia's military is purely defensive

Invading another country isn't acceptable as purely defensive....it's just not!

If it was meant to it was a stupid move....a loser's move....he already failed some of his objectives and time will tell if he loses alot more.

@Novichok

Your whole #11,823 post deserves 5 stars! When has Russia ever performed well as an expeditionary force?

Although I agree with what you say, it would be a monstrous dereliction of responsibility if Euro countries didn't bolster its defensive posture and policies to meet a potential threat from Russia, however impotent it appears on paper.

Invading another country isn't acceptable as purely defensive....it's just not!

But, I think he's saying the defensive nature of the Russian military precluded it from seriously attacking another Euro country...that's not Ukraine, of course.

In Germany "experts" count on Putin to use a small nuke at least in the end....

I'd be shocked if he did, unless Ukraine military makes headway into Russia.

Here's hoping to not be shocked!

Invading another country isn't acceptable as purely defensive....it's just not!

Sorry, BB, but you are wrong. There is a simple rule to follow when discussing such subjects: Ask what the Israelis would do. And they did exactly what Putin is doing now: They attacked potential aggressors in 1967 and 1973 and took their land. Bravo!

When has Russia ever performed well as an expeditionary force?

Never. They learned their lesson in Afghanistan pretty well. This tells me that attacking Ukraine was an act of ultimate desperation after all other means and desire to negotiate neutrality of Ukraine were exhausted. Putin may have underestimated their military capabilities but had no illusions about the losses Russia would suffer.

Is this still BREAKING?

Russian Counsellor to the United Nations in Geneva has resigned...

Full statements in English and Russian:

highlights...

"never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 of this year"

"a bold letter Z crossing out all hopes and prospects for a prosperous free society in our country"

"Those who conceived this war want only one thing - to remain in power forever"

You think Putin will emerge ... as powerful domestically or do you think he'll increase or decrease in power?

I don't know. He's very popular and will remain popular for the foreseeable future regardless of outcome in Ukraine. Nature of system is such that only Putin can know what he's going to do, and it's not clear that he's made up his mind yet. Personally I think he's on his way out, meaning I think he's serving his last term. There are several candidates to replace him, and I think the criteria in selecting them is mostly about their commitment to continuing his course. The current conflict is in many ways him trying to shape his legacy. He wants to be on the list of great Russian leaders and Ukraine is his magnum opus. However, if things will not go well, maybe he'll be convinced he has to stay on for yet another term to steer the ship through the sanctions war. This would of course prolong the sanctions war, but so it goes.

I don't think there will be any loosening of the screws domestically regardless of the outcome in Ukraine. Releasing Navalny or stopping the full court press against opposition parties is not on the table (besides the fact that Navalny's popularity is marginal). Putin is Putin, and Moscow and St. Petersburg are not Russia.

"Мы не хотим быть пушечным мясом" - "We do not want to be cannon fodder"

youtu.be/DmU6LkLq2x4

"We do not want to be cannon fodder," the soldiers of the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeal to Zelensky. In their video message, they state that many of them have never held weapons in their hands, that they do not have ammunition, weapons and food, which is why they refuse to carry out combat missions.

twitter.com/Levi_godman/status/1528762884343349248

all that is left of 3 companies, a company is otherwise a hundred or 200 people by the standards of the Ukrainian army mostly, translation in short, no support, no equipment, they need rest, low morale, criminal orders

twitter.com/spriteer_774400/status/1528864358851563520

There's no logic in not retreating when you can't get reinforcements and weapons. It's a finished war. And whether the maniacs will give their consent for them to withdraw is another question. They can always surrender, pardon, evacuate.

yea, gotta feel sorry for those ukra regular soldiers. . especially for those soldiers in severodoneck. they havent been rotated at all. and ukra blew bridges behind them. no retreat.no supply

ukra really treat its soldiers as cannon fodder. dont understand this holding area at any cost strategy.if thing get bad, pull battalions out ,regroup, resupply and they will fight another day another place.instead ,they sit in trenches and getting hammered by arty into submission and surrender.i dunnno. am not a general.

They attacked potential aggressors in 1967 and 1973

Another look back at days gone by to actions that are no longer acceptable in todays world to justify barbarian behavior of Russians. We expect nothing less than this kind of uneducated analogy that makes no sense in todays political and economic climate. Along this retarded line of thinking, Ukraine should have attacked Russia. Feeble minded people should be kept away from computers.

Meanwhile the great Putin leadership has experts saying Russia's economy is "imploding" as exports to the sanctioned country fall. "We forecast a GDP collapse of -30% by end-2022," a chief economist at Institute of International Finance wrote. Exports from 20 countries to Russia were down -50% from the same time a year prior.

Strong Ruble indeed. Happy gulag biatches!

... Women Grand Master, International Master and 2019 European Women's Individual Chess Champion, has stated that because of the Russian aggression on Ukraine she no longer wishes to represent this country. She now wants to play for Poland. :)

Polish Chess Association informed today that they received an approval from FIDE and are very happy to welcome Alina Kashlinskaya in the ranks of Polish players.

Since Coca Cola withdrew from the Russian market, the state nationalized bottling plants and now they are selling the same soft drinks like this.

c

:)

Only a stupid Westerner thinks he has succeeded and achieved something with this. This is the greatest epic fail of the West in history. All this talk, for only a 10% deficit, will be returned by the Russians in the coming years.

Well.....it worked 89, remember? Eastern folks wanting desperatedly the same stuff the Westerners enjoyed.....already forgotten?

Every day Russians come and ask for asylum, it must be hundreds of thousands of people by now, the good educated ones at that....don't tell me you don't know about that?

Compared to the West the East hasn't much to offer, any comparison he lost....why shouldn't it happen again? The home made substitutes were never as good as the western originals, why should it change now?

GefreiterKania

Erm... "Cool Cola", "Fancy", "Street"? Why the English names? If the bottling plants were nationalised, shouldn't the names be in Russian and written in Cyrillic script? It's a scandal! Somebody in this bottling plant, who is responsible for labels, should be denazified! :D

Normal enough. If I had a pound for every time I've seen russia supporters try to justify russian behaviour in Ukraine or Syria or Chines behaviour to the Ughyurs I could open an account at gazprombank and buy some dodgy roubles.

Every day Russians come and ask for asylum, it must be hundreds of thousands of people by now

Thousands of them have fled.

Putin is said to have survived an assassination attempt in March

bild.de/politik/ausland/politik-ausland/ukraine-krieg-wladimir-putin-soll-attentat-im-maerz-ueberlebt-haben-80186650.bild.html

He has been bringing death and suffering to Ukraine , frightening the whole world - and apparently living in constant fear for his own life.

There is a reason for this: According to media reports, Kremlin warmonger Vladimir Putin (69) has now survived five assassination attempts - the last of which was in March, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine .

jon357

five assassination attempts

Probably why he's hiding in a bunker now.

Have you read about Metro 2 in Moscow? Those people are paranoid. It wouldn't help them much should they need to actually use it.

defense intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov

Somebody who has been right so far about everything. He must have some very well-placed sources in Moscow.

Great news. A little premature though, since talks are still ongoing.

No, you don't.

Turkey are creating a border zone which is mostly sand and which they controlled already, despite russia and poisoner Assad's best efforts.

I'd not call them substitutes. We had them too, just cheaper brands. Even though the originals were available for those who could afford them. Even better when they delivered them in big bottles on a lorry and collected the bottles a week later. Greener, cheaper, and less profits disappearing to America.

Syria is not Europe....we can't help them all

You nailed it with that comment. There's a lot in t( world that needs sorting, Chinese repression of the Uyghurs, generational labour camps in North Korea and a few more horrors besides. We can't fix those, however we can help Ukraine. Important to pick battles that are winnable.

subordinates reported

Such a contrast to russia where they are too cowed to do so.

Assuming your story from a notorious RuSSist Twitter shill is true which is quite frankly a big assumption.

Not to mention that few are that morally unambigious. Difficult to choose sides between the jihadists and Assad loyalists in Syria or the proxies from Iran and Saudi-Arabia in Yemen. But defending a democracy against a genocidal invasion? The choice is simple.

Never mind how Syria or Yemen are not threatening the whole post-war order in Europe.

Putin just took Poland off his Christmas card list.
The Polish government terminated the contract for gas supplies from Russia and the agreement on the construction of gas pipeline systems for the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Poland.

I wonder how long it will be before they kiss and make up ?
