Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 5

Quoting:

Russian defenses spark skepticism over Ukrainian counteroffensive - CNN
The US media outlet cited analysis of satellite images featuring fortifications set up by Moscow's troops in Zaporozhye Region

The Ukrainian military will have a hard time breaching Russian defenses built in Zaporozhye Region over the past six months, CNN has predicted. The media outlet cited satellite imagery apparently showing an extensive system of anti-tank ditches, obstacles, minefields and trenches.

...and comments...

It will be Kursk all over again.

Ukrainians don't want to die for Zelensky clown. They all know how corrupt they are

Only Western useful idiots do...

The Russian Ministry of Defense has replaced its deputy defense minister for logistics, making a change in military leadership just as Russian forces gear up for a Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Indeed, nothing says success like firing your top logistics guy right before you get moved on by Ukraine. Zaporozhye is a smoke screen. No counter attack will happen around a nuclear power plant. That will be the last place IMO. Ukraine now has 50K men for the attack, freshly trained and equiped with the latest tech and Russia sacks their top logistics guy. Wagner talking about withdrawing from Bakhmut because they dont have enough ammo. Sounds like typical Russian incompetence and planning.

The Russian Ministry of Defense

Actually, it should be the Russian Ministry of Treasonous Assaults. 😉

No, silly little girl. Quoting a Ukraine-friendly source would make my point more credible to Russia-hating normal idiots. The problem here is that PF Russia-hating idiots are not normal because hating Russia, like global warming, is now a religion for stupid Poles.

How do I know that? Simple. Helping refugees is normal. Sending ammo and tanks is still OK. Closing a Russian school in Warsaw is in a different category. It's petty, stupid, and moronic, In other words so very Polish.

Poland "had no right" to seize a school operated by the Russian embassy in Warsaw and any dispute over the property should have been resolved through dialogue, Russian Ambassador to Warsaw Sergey Andreyev has told RT. He argued that, under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, diplomatic buildings "under no circumstances can be subjected to break-ins and seizures."

It's the disgusting sh*it like this that shows up on Putin's desk as an irritant without upside to the Polish Russia-hating idiots. Like removing monuments commemorating the liberation of Poland by the Red Army.

My prediction: Russians will be discussing leveling Katyn to make room for a zoo or an amusement park.

"had no right" to seize a school operated by the Russian embassy

It was declared Polish state property by a final judgement in Warsaw district court. It's not a diplomatic issue but a domestic property case. russia did not own the building it was occupying it illegally (as russians are wont to do....)

Of course for violent russian psychopaths (which is almost all them) killing an ambassador would be an appropriate response....

My prediction: Russians will be discussing leveling Katyn to make room for a zoo or an amusement park.

I don't think they would do it because there are 600,000 russian soldiers buried in Poland whose graves are not destroyed by Poles. Only their monuments are removed. Unfortunately, I really don't know what this eastern venison is capable of.

GefreiterKania

russia did not own the building it was occupying it illegally

The building was occupied illegaly and Russian Federation still owes the city of Warsaw 31 million PLN (over $7m) according to the court judgement from 18th January 2016 that they completely ignored. Warsaw municipality has shown angelic patience - all this should happen in 2016 already.

killing an ambassador would be an appropriate response

It is worth adding that the building doesn't have - and never had - a diplomatic status, hence wasn't under protection of diplomatic immunity.

wasn't under protection of diplomatic immunity

Silly boy.... you're expecting russians to understand that there are laws.... and that they apply to them as well....

The building was occupied illegaly

I'm curious, how could we do it in the first place? Implies some lawlessness on Poland's side as well.

seriously???? a russian asking how the russian state could be somewhere it's not supposed to be???

self-awareness is not a typical russian trait....

I'm curious, how could we do it in the first place?

As far as I know the lease of the building expired but the Russian embassy continued to use it. The Warsaw District Court then issued a ruling obligating the embassy to cease the use of said building. The ruling was basically ignored. This happened in 2016 and I have no idea why Warsaw city hall waited so long to reclaim the premises. Why Polish ambassador in Moscow should be drowned in the Moskva river in response to this belated recovery of Treasury property is an equal mystery to me. As I said before, the building was used by the embassy but itself didn't have a diplomatic status and wasn't under diplomatic immunity protection.

Generally I find this a non-issue and the Russian hysteria (including Maria Zakharova talking about breaking up diplomatic relations with Poland) about it is somewhat puzzling.

@GefreiterKania

I don't care either. Bunch of hot air.

Let's talk counter-offensive. We must hold ourselves accountable. Everyone on this thread - the veterans at least, must define now the criteria by which they will judge Ukrainian success in this impending operation.

In this way, we can later objectively judge people's positions.

Proposals of experts on Twitter :)

1) Territory (everybody cares most about this, though it may be misleading)

2) Positive evaluation by Western allies. Both in the press and officially.

3) Encirclements of Russians, or significant losses of materiel. Such that they stand out in the wider context of the war.

What else can the PF brigade propose?

GefreiterKania
1 May 2023  #3134

Why wasn't the lease renewed?

Whether Russia stopped paying or Warsaw city hall had different plans for the building is largely irrelevant. The lease expired, Russia refused to vacate the premises, the building was seized by proper authorities. End of.

We did something that Russia doesn't like which is, of course, a lovely drop of honey to my Polish heart, but apart from that - as I said - a non-issue.

@Bobi

I have no energy today to discuss the famous counter offensive. Maybe tomorrow.

It is relevant. It reveals Polish nasty pettiness with no upside. Only certified morons engage in such behavior.

Did Poland plan to build a new airport there and a public restroom with a toothless lady collecting 2.65zl per pi*ss?

GefreiterKania

Polish nasty pettiness

Hey, we may be nasty and petty but at least we don't invade neighbouring countries without declaring war, deliberately target residential buildings and murder two-year-old toddlers. That has to count for something, right?

with no upside

Who said that happy satisfaction, joyful internal giggle and sticking a small splinter into Russia's ass can't be considered an upside? I think it definitely can.

mafketis

Whether Russia stopped paying or Warsaw city hall had different plans for the building is largely irrelevant

Yes. When the lease expires it takes two sides to renew....

Polish nasty pettiness with no upside

so what's the upside of russian musings about killing the Polish ambassador because russia refuses to respect (another!) law....

russians are just so, so, so tiresome.... attack and violence and viciousness while wheeping about being a victim.... puke inducing.

Let's talk counter-offensive.

It's a process, not an event....

russia's sweetheart and favorite twitter sage.... Kamil Galeev is at it again explaining russian tactics....

shorter version: in a low trust society (like russia) those in charge have little to no idea how things actually work and so they rely on key metrics that can be measured....

russia has never won a war through strategy, it only ever wins by turning live russians into dead russians in such numbers that the enemy is (eventually) overwhelmed....

so putain is liable to think that high casualty numbers = good news, we're engaging the enemy and wearing them out and sooner or later they'll run out of soldiers to get killed before we do.....

that's the "logic" behind Bakhmut....

deliberately target residential buildings and murder two-year-old toddlers

Then why polish language is second by occurence after galician dialect on VHF along Donbass front line (both in analog and DMR)? And who fires Himars missiles to residental blocks of Donetsk? (Hint: Attempt to say that it is Russians firing them to accuse "peaceful" other side in a terror will cause much less pleasant question.) And who shot missile two days ago, that hit public bus in center of Donetsk, where 9 people burned alive, included one small girl?

must define now the criteria by which they will judge Ukrainian success in this impending operation.

....well....I for one guess that war will be decided in Moscow.....I don't see Putin waving at the victory parade in Moscow.....he won't survive this....either he abdicts voluntarily or he will fly accidentally of course out of a window (or one of the many variations of that theme).

His successor will try to make peace with as less loss of face as possible....will Crimea be the big prize? Probably....then pressure will mount on Kiev to agree....heavily dependent on promised financial help for rebuilding Ukraine Kiev will probably agree...

So...who will have won? What has Russia gained?

Good question....

Maybe the rest of Ukraine....gazillions of western resources will flood the non-russian parts of Ukraine, in a few years Ukraine will look totally differently to before-war-Ukraine....people will be able to differentiate alone with the eyes between after-war-Ukraine and the russian parts....like a new demarcation line in Europe like between the GDR and West-Germany....

And also as back then....Russians will want to live in Ukraine....preferring stable, democratic, much better off Ukraine to their not as comfy russian home...so, the winner in the end is???

Just some thoughts!

The prosperity of South Korea doesn't bother the North Koreans at all who remain faithful to the misery and poverty that the government inflicts on them..

Bratwurst Boy

doesn't bother the North Koreans at all who remain faithful

Oh please! Do you think the North Koreans are not humans???

Of course they want to live better, most of them wish they wouldn't live in North Korea....always hungry and in fear!

Don't believe the propaganda pics!!! In the summer of '89 East-Berlin had still a great party to celebrate the creation of the GDR....people like you must have believed the SED firmly in power....with millions of happy flag waving followers on the streets....the whole youth in the blue of the SED youth organizations...a strong army with the NVA showing off their missiles ....but only a few months later the wall fell and the GDR was history....and not many tears were shed.

Most of the people who just a few months back had been forced to show off for the GDR were now dancing happily in the streets about the end of it all!

You believe the propaganda pics of an deadly autocratic dictatorship and you fell for their lies!

russia is no different..

I know! They are humans too....no different to North Koreans or East-Germans!

mafketis

Of course they want to live better, most of them wish they wouldn't live in North Korea....

you misunderstand me... what rank and file North Koreans wish or don't wish doesn't matter, the North Korean government doesn't care that the South is infinitely richer and is a regional cultural superpower (far more so than China.... or former star Japan).

the russian government doesn't care how miserable things get for ordinary russians as long as they stay in power.

do you really think the government of the DDR cared how much better off the BRD was?

Eventually, when they realized the CCCP was longer going to make sure they stayed in power it fell apart, but most russians didn't welcome the end of the CCCP and would like it back so... human? not so sure.....

Bratwurst Boy

@mafketis

Oh they do care!!! Why all the demonstrations of power and superiority and the "endless love of the people for it's Führer"? Huh? The other side doesn't need that sh*it!

do you really think the government of the DDR cared how much better off the BRD was?

Oh yes, they cared!!! They were so afraid....people got punished for listening to the "wrong" media....for telling the "wrong" things.....people who couldn't be silenced got exiled....

Does that look like a confident behaviour to you? If I don't care at all why do I need to control the people? Why do I need a secret agency to threaten and terrorize and punish them??? Why do I fear my own people?

They were scared shitless....and the more afraid they became the bigger became the forced parades to celebrate their own "greatness"! Believe me...I was there!

mafketis
