that Poland assisted Ukraine, at least in part, to aid the disintegration of Russia

you confuse the cause and the effect - that pawian hates Russia and wants her destruction is not the cause of the Russian invasion of Ukraine: it's the effect

And now video footage coming out of Ukraine of Ukraine army destroying thermobaric bomb delivery system. Thermobaric bombs banned by the Geneva convention for being a vacuum bomb and ripping the oxygen out of peoples lungs when detonated.

Lets remember, Putin was not elected. He was illegally appointed by a drunk Yeltsin. His rise to power is completely illegal and the base of his power is also based on lies. There is nothing Putin has done that is impressive or has been great for the Russian people. He is the worlds biggest idiot.

Just a hunch of mine, but I think Lukashenko is going to get a message from the US that if Belarus enters the war they will be completely liquidated. This would be the message that would get some attention from this POS and Putin. One massive raid on Belarus or a complete flattening of Minsk would make everyone think twice about doing anything further. Frankly, this is probably the best way to get everyone to stop and take a deep breath and rethink things. Or maybe take Lukashenko out with a bullet and let little Vlad know he can be reached too. That seems to be the only way fvcking Russians understand anything.

that pawian hates Russia and wants her destruction

I would like you to stop distorting my words, please. I know it is your rightist obsession but can you give yourself a break in this thread at least? I don`t hate Russia and never wanted its destruction. Quite the opposite.

One massive raid on Belarus or a complete flattening of Minsk

... will end existence of United States as we know it. Rebuilding of major cities with key MIC facilities and major military bases/arsenals will take time, and little chances will be to start it before radiation levels will drop to relatively safe values. Is there agreed place for new Capitol to replace destroyed one?

PolAmKrakow

More tough talk from mommies basement? Russia will do nothing. Minsk would be an example of what Moscow could end up looking like. Lukashenko is an even bigger idiot than little Vlad.

Lukashenko is an even bigger idiot

He's not, really. He's actually very shrewd and has played putain like a violin for years. The big-dumb-guy act is just that.... an act he uses to publicly diss putain and/or spoil his plans* while sucking down russian money while putain hopes for him to agree to the idiotic idea of the 'triune nation' (a dumb thing that putain supporters get excited about....).

Galeev wrote about that and the dynamic between the two and once you notice it.... you can't unnotice it. I stopped worrying about Lukashenka joining/helping putain a long time ago.

*remember the invasion map shown by Lukahsenko early on? the one that helped fortify anti-russian feeling in Europe? you think that was an accident?

PolAmKrakow
17 Feb 2023  #731

@mafketis
I remember the map, and you may be right. I just do not think he is clever enough to outsmart Putin. Putin is a criminal genius; Lukashenko is more of a mid-level muscle guy who somehow ended up in power. The map is an interesting way to look at things, and yes, it does make your talking point strong in that regard. What happens if Lukashenko gets hit? The political uprising in Belarus would not favor Russia, and there are no nukes in Belarus.

If reports of 97%of Russian troops already being in Ukraine are true, or even close, then Putin is risking everything on this spring offensive. Imagine two years from now, Russia with literally no military left, and Putin either dead or locked up somewhere. The proxy war will look like a brilliant tactic for the west.

Also worth noting, more reports of countries, and companies talking about partnerships in rebuilding Ukraine are coming out. Always follow the money.

It has explicitly revived the concept of an Intermarium that gathers up its neighbours in a new regional alliance

The problem with an Intermarium is that none of Poland's neighbours have ever been keen on supporting such an idea.

Marina Yankina, head of the department of financial provisions for the Western Military District, was found dead on a sidewalk on Wednesday morning.

Holy fvck. Another mishap near a window? Russians have just the worst luck or really strong winds just follow them. Amazing. LMFAO

Intermarium

An imperial project, of slightly different flavor. An offer to simply replace Russian or German domination with Polish domination. The only reason Poland is obsessed with the idea, is because it sees for itself a central role in this project. Symmetrically, Hungarians, Romanians, and Czechs will never feel the same enthusiasm for this exact reason. Ukrainians may support you in the short term, because their brains are wired spectacularly similarly to yours, but sooner or later their old Polonophobia will come bubbling up to the surface.

For centuries, Russia or Germany were the preferred "overlords" for those other countries, because the outsize scale of the imperial powers relative to that of the remaining collection of neighbors, lent at least some credence to the idea of a neutral arbiter. If Hungarians and Romanians are having a dispute, there is a better chance of receiving a fair judgement in Berlin or St. Petersburg than in Warsaw (if it represented some hypothetical power center). This is pretty intuitive to me, and is the reason why you need a country like the United States, for example, to mediate the Israeli/Palestinian dispute. There is at least the veneer of an honest broker here.

The reason size translates into greater perceived neutrality, is through a simple assumption that big countries simply don't care enough about small countries to take sides overtly, and instead stand to suffer reputational damage if their judgements are seen to be as too one-sided (that's how empires begin to fall apart).

Now does Poland have enough mass to be able to make neutral decisions about the lives of its neighbors, in such a way as to not raise suspicions of bias? Doubtful. It's pretty transparently clear even from the vantage point of the present that Poland would use an Intermarium project only in so far as it strengthened Poland.

@Alien
Banana peels are said to be the culprit and the only witness Oleg Sucksomevladoff said he was trying to catch her and not push her from the back. Meanwhile investigators are focusing on searching through all of the victims belongings that were also found on the balcony. Monkeys were seen in the area, and there was a large cache of Dole banana's missing from private storage at the Kremlin. More updates as this story develops...

How much is a human life worth in russia?

I've been reading a lot of Facebook posts by Ukrainian military officers, where they say that all these kill ratios in favor of Ukraine are a fiction. In most cases they are saying losses are 1:1, some even say they are not to the advantage of Ukrainians.

What say you, Maf, should you graduate from English language Twitter with its Galeev's, to the social media sphere of Ukraine? It's strange, isn't it, to be shaping your opinion about a war, based on the output of an opposition figure in the enemy's camp?

That's a good point. I don't know about "illegally", but it's not like he was elected.

telling every average Joe I meet that he should be against supporting this war.

That's very hypocritical considering that you're supporting this war yourself. 👎

Putin is a criminal genius; Lukashenko is more of a mid-level muscle guy

My evaluation...

lukashenka is a shrewd political player (terrible and evil but... shrewd) and putain is a mid-level bureaucrat who had the backing of some criminal geniuses (like surkov) and then got high on his own drama

I noticed that in their meeting today lukashenka publicly dissed putain within about 7 seconds of the public event.... no one else can get away with that.... (well maybe Xi but tha'ts not his style, he prefers to humiliate putain by having him read out a bunch of CCP talking points in public (like last summer)

twitter.com/forestland6/status/1626672324631035904

illegally appointed by a drunk Yeltsin

Actually he was chosen by a group of oligarchs (headed IIRC by the criminal scum Chubais) specifically to protect them from public wrath about how much they had stolen and intended to steal....

Yeltsin was a figurehead by then

some criminal geniuses (like surkov)

Glad you noticed this.

That little grey rat also writes good poems. He also publishes anonymous opinion pieces in places like the Russian GQ and Russian Monocle (think it's called something different). He writes good fiction too. If you think Bobko is a demon, then Surkov is the devil himself. I'm in awe of his literary and philosophical depth.

Can you imagine a Western bureaucrat with the talents of Surkov? Then Russia would tremble.

How about your hypocrisy? Did you notice it?

I've also noticed that Putin is a nervous man (look at his feet):

They are getting desperate now!

Russia just needs to abandon the invasion, retreat, deliver war criminals to an international tribunal and pay war reparations.

Think of it as a second Crimean War. In the first one, Russia thought it could easily defeat and swallow the Ottoman Empire. The West (represented by the British Empire, France and Kingdom of Sardinia) decided not to grant Russia victory so they came to Crimea and kicked some serious Muscovite ass. After a brutal walloping Russia decided to take the L. Not only did it not fall apart, but even used the defeat to try introducing some much-needed reforms.

If Russia decides to call it quits rather sooner than later, the result might be similar. Sure, Putin will have to go, but as a result Russia might at least to try to improve its internal shi*tty state. However the longer it takes, the more possible are the disaster scenarios - including the 1917 one, in which the government simply collapses and Russia enters a long period of civil disorder, or even war.

Paulina

long-lasting, full-scale war is taking it's toll perhaps?

Of course, the war is taking its toll the most on those directly involved, namely, RuSSian soldiers - and this will be affecting the RuSSian society more and more - RuSSian media are apparently already calling it "the special operation syndrome":

wiadomosci.wp.pl/weteran-wojny-pil-tanczyl-strzelal-zginelo-13-osob-w-rosji-mowia-syndrom-operacji-specjalnej-6867517163797120a

A large fire broke out at night in the Polygon nightclub in Kostroma, RuSSia, when a drunk RuSSian soldier who got back from Ukraine fired a flare gun on the dance floor into the ceiling. 13 people died.

There are also other incidents mentioned in the article caused by soldiers returning from Ukraine.

A fragment from the article (my translation):

"RuSSia will pay for this war with increase in crime, the number of violent incidents and those including the use of guns - says Col. Andrzej Kruczyński, a former GROM officer, security and counter-terrorism expert. - With a few hundreds of thousands of soldiers involved in the war, combined with RuSSian corruption, the weapons used at war will be flowing into the country. You can't keep an eye on all of it. I think that controlling it is impossible. - he assesses.

He stresses that a few factors will contribute to the increase in crime. - Prisoners who were granted freedom for fighting in Ukraine are coming to RuSSia. Some of them may get back to the their criminal ways. RuSSia will be flooded with veterans suffering from PTSD and, knowing the RuSSian reality, they most probably won't receive help. A person who has seen the worst things in the world is like a time bomb. There are many dangers here."
