Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 8

Bobko

Ah well, caught up on some morning news, and looks like things have moved on since last night.

Despite calling the GOP tactics "stunning" and "dangerous", and accusing them of playing a political "game of chicken" with national security - Biden has finally signally his openness to do a deal.

Source: apnews.com/article/biden-ukraine-congress-aid-military-russia-002fde812843fc1fc0e969b653ce83a8

The problem is, that this more than likely fail as well. This is because the current efforts to work out a compromise are all focused on the Senate. However, it is already clear that whatever watered down bill comes from the Senate, will die in the House.

There, Speaker Mike Johnson, has said he will bin any law that doesn't adhere to HR 2 - a bill in the house prepared by conservatives for a complete overhaul of immigration laws. Democrats have already said they find most of the proposals in HR 2 too toxic to touch.

1) Republicans want border security reforms.

I know it was not your intention but even the first item made me see red. That's why I hate RINOs for acting like castrated pussies even when the a-holes have both the WH and Congress.

1) Republicans want border security reforms.

No!!!!! Close the border shut to all - legal and illegal.
Make illegal crossing a felony with 10 years minimum - if they can climb over a 40-foot Isreali-style wall with machine guns on top.
Drug smuggling = the death penalty. Like in China except faster.
No asylum crap because nobody qualifies for it in the US under the UN rules.

That's my "border security reform" platform.

To be honest, what the Republicans are asking for in their latest compromise proposal is really nothing crazy.

They say they will release $5B to Ukraine, monthly, for every 20K reduction in migrant numbers to the previous month.

If 8K people are crossing daily, that's 240K people in a month. So Republicans are willing to start funding Ukraine again, if that number is brought down to 220K, 200K, 180K, 160K and so on.

That just seems eminently reasonable. I must be missing something here, because if I was a Democrat I would pounce on that deal. There must be something else there, that the Democrats find unpalatable.

I'm sure Democrats themselves are not happy that the US population is receiving essentially a full percentage point of growth annually through migrants.

for every 20K reduction in migrant numbers to the previous month.

That can come only from the world's sickest slime ...They control the House and money, FCOL...and these pussies are "asking"???
How about: Hey, Biden, as long as you, pos, keep that damn border open, you get sh*it. I would actually send this exact text to this sob.

BTW, if they have the means to reduce, they have the means to stop.

@Bobko
You're in the city, and have a first hand view of this mess. It is simply illegal and out of control. Biden is breaking every immigration law in the books by not only allowing it to happen, but making it easier and telling law enforcement to let it happen. Frankly, Trump was impeached for less. This "President" is committing high crimes every day.

Still waiting for some EU country to step up and replace US funding though since some think the EU doesnt need the USA. Anyone? (insert crickets chirping) Still waiting for some EU country to step up and deliver arms instead of the US. Anyone? (insert crickets chirping) Where are all the people now who have been sure the US will keep funding Ukraine when no new money has come in 4 months? Maybe, Poland should cut 500 plus and extra pension months for the next two years and give the money to Ukraine? Maybe take all the EU reconstruction money and give it to Ukraine? And then, combined, you would still be behind what the US has given.

Yeah, it's... not what I expected.

I'm pretty liberal (if you can't tell). I used to be a lot MORE liberal.

I also don't want to be a hypocrite.

However it's more and more clear that this is an absolutely brain dead approach to immigration. Must thank Governors De Santis and Abbott for opening my eyes.

People with PhDs and successful businesses behind their back can't get a work visa, while hundreds of thousands of others don't even bother with the bureaucracy and walk straight in. Doesn't seem really fair to the guys trying to do it legally, or really beneficial to the United States.

Australia has a pretty Nazi immigration policy, and no one seems to give them a hard time. But also, it's Australia, and nobody gives a sh!t about what happens there. Might as well be on the moon.

Australia has a pretty Nazi immigration policy,

I said the same thing. I love NAZIs if that's what they do - keep foreign garbage at the curb.
Liberal and intelligent cannot be about the same person. No wonder you have changed.
To make you feel better, let me rephrase...
Leftist and intelligent can be used only if one is into oxymorons. As in "intelligent leftist"...

Nobody ever thought that just one word would kill the white race. Not nukes, covid, or global warming...Just one word: Asylum.
Any a-hole can now show up at the gate, say the magic word and he is in. Forever...Then his brothers, sisters, parents, uncles,...
Yes, I know, I am a heartless NAZI...

Bobko

Yes, I know, I am a heartless NAZI...

Haha.

I think it's important to continue to provide asylum to those truly deserving it.

If someone is likely to get killed if you send him home, you should probably not send him back.

That being said, I think the number of genuine asylum cases is vanishingly small.

I personally know maybe 10 people that obtained residency in the US by claiming asylum. I think not a single one involved a true story.

One was a Korean guy that came from a Muslim part of Russia. He claimed the local people would routinely beat him for being a Christian. As proof, he used a photo he made of himself after a fight, and hired some "expert" that wrote a report concluding that Christians are threatened in Southern Russia.

Another girl claimed she was a Jehovah's Witness, and used printouts of online articles about how that Church is suppressed in Russia.

People scamming the system left and right.

That being said, I think the number of genuine asylum cases is vanishingly small.

In the US it's zero - unless one takes a direct flight from Gaza or Kiev to NY.
If he stops anywhere else, he loses the right to apply for asylum from where he is safe. The UN asylum rules do not allow for asylum tourism or shopping for a better deal.

People scamming the system left and right.

Just as bad money drives out good money,

Bad culture drives out good culture.

Low trust drives out high trust.

Cynicism drives out honesty.

Scammers drive out honest businessmen.

Chaos drives out order....

If you manage to build a high trust, mostly honest and engaged society (not easy at all) don't let in a bunch of people from low trust, dishonest and dysfunctional societies.... they will destroy it as easily as they breathe and not know (or care) what they're destroying.

Bobko

unless one takes a direct flight from Gaza or Kiev to NY

I don't think even that automatically qualifies you as a true asylum seeker.

Well, Gaza maybe, but not Kiev.

People in Kiev are going to nightclubs, eating at fancy restaurants, and buying luxury cars. How does that sound like the imminent threat of death?

A true asylum seeker, may be a guy that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has expressed his desire to permanently silence.

It could be a whistleblower from Syria, that worked at a morgue, and documented signs of systemic torture by the country's intelligence agencies. At risk to his own life, he got the data out of Syria. That deserves asylum.

An asylum seeker, could even be a billionaire from a former Soviet country, that was imprisoned on false charges after he decided to found a new political party.

Just because you are from somewhere, doesn't necessarily make you a refugee.

Novichok
7 Dec 2023  #734

If you manage to build a high trust,

Americans trusted their government and got:

Korea
Vietnam
Iraq
Afghanistan
30 million illegals
32 trillion debt
1 trillion annual deficit
decaying cities
black thugs
homeless bums
closed stores
...

Trust you want...What planet are you on...

Novichok
7 Dec 2023  #735

An asylum seeker, could even be a billionaire from a former Soviet country,

Sorry, Bobko, we are still not on the same page...

Those you just mentioned are OK as immigrants - few and based on merit or special circumstances. Solzhenitsyn was a good example.
Refugees are from wars only and are temporary. Once the war is over, they are supposed to go back. Stupid West conflated both and nobody goes back.

Otherwise, a host country would fill up to capacity quickly and be unable to take the next batch. It's that simple.

Are you kidding me, PolAm? The EU has already given twice as much to Ukraine as the US.

BB posted links a couple of days ago...

Ukraine Support Tracker: Europe clearly overtakes US, with total commitments now twice as large

... and that's data from September already.

Refugees are from wars only and are temporary.

Small distinction, between a refugee and an asylum seeker - to my mind.

Just curious - if the war the refugee was fleeing from, results in the coming to power of a brutal regime which will punish those that fled - would you still send people back?

Novichok
7 Dec 2023  #738

would you still send people back?

Yes.

I can host only a limited number of people for a limited time.
Because countries are bigger than houses, it does not make the logic of my yes wrong.

Everybody can come up with why he wants to be somewhere else...Rain, too hot, too cold, earthquakes, crime, snakes, bugs, religion, poverty,...Now they just added climate change.

On top of that nonsense, it's always from sh*holes to the white countries. Is it because we have better welfare benefits and free medical care? Yes, I said, free because it's free to the illegals and refugees, not you and me.

When it comes to immigration, think bus, not balloon.

I said Poland not the EU. And that graph only measures financial aid, not military aid. But for sake of argument, who TF is going to replace the US aid? I have been asking for months. Weapons, cash, and humanitarian aid. Who from the EU is going to give more than the US? If the US is not needed, then why all the fuss over more aid from US Congress?

As for the illegals entering the US. Its simple. Illegal is illegal. Dont gaf about your problems at home. Either you get in legally or get TF out. Same as in Poland.

Did Putin just tell a joke?

Korvinus
7 Dec 2023  #744

except that I'm confident Russia will not be attacking any NATO countries.

Yet KGB Dwarf is the greatest nato salesman since Stalin.

NATO in early 00s was viewed a something worthless. Almost every European country was investing less than 2% of GDP in military. Many politicians said in TV that NATO is no longer necessary. And them, Putin started to chimp out and attack everything and everyone. NATO have virtually zero military presence in "Eastern Flank". This only changed after Putin broke Budapest Memorandum and borders which he recognized in 2014.

Here is a 3 step plan on how Putin can defeat NATO :

Step 1 : Stop worshiping Bolsheviks
Step 2 : Stop attacking non NATO members and making everyone around Russia to sees nato membership as existential
Step 3 : Wait few decades till nato becomes "worthless"

Still waiting for some EU country to step up and replace US funding

Nothing but crickets so far..... It comes to no surprise. The cheap ass Euroweasel only cares about their own countries self perseverance.

As long as we have an open Southern Border, not one penny should go to help protect someone's else`s border. Its Europe's backyard not ours...

Otherwise, a host country would fill up to capacity quickly and be unable to take the next batch.

15,000 illegally crossed our border yesterday. Mostly all of them were from Africa. Biden is a traitor!

Novichok
7 Dec 2023  #746

15,000 illegally crossed our border yesterday.

That means 450,000 a month and RINOs want to reduce by 20,000. At that rate, it will take 22 years to do what can be done in 22 minutes.

The fact that the president can refuse to his job and still be president is proof that something went terribly wrong when this country was being designed.

It is called judicial, or legal overstep.

Sorry, I'm not a law expert and I don't know much about American law, but according to the links that you've given me there's a law in the US that allows for this:

"these were the first charges brought under a little-known ,1996 federal law that allows the US to prosecute people who commit war crimes against Americans abroad."

Why was the American there?

According to the link you've provided he lived in Ukraine with his wife.

Why was he in a war zone?

He lived with his wife in a village called Mylove, Beryslav Raion, within Kherson Oblast. Mylove was occupied by the Russian military in early March 2022 during its invasion of Ukraine and was regained by Ukrainian forces on 10 November 2022. So, I'm guessing that the inhabitants of that village got caught up by this invasion as the rest of the people in those parts of Ukraine:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mylove

but surely that is grounds for the occupying force to detain and question him

What grounds? He lived in some small village with his wife. I wouldn't be surprised if he was tortured only because he was an American.
