Don't worry though; fossil fuels don't have much of a future.

You cant really be this much in denial. Let me guess, Gretta Thunburg is an expert, and Novi invented the combustion engine? The electric vehicle is already dead. Fact: the second largest liquid resource on earth is oil. Enough oil to last hundreds of years in the gound, and enough to keep prices down. Just the science folks, nothing to see here except the truth.

You cant really be this much in denial

Here's a list of ten things, where fossil fuels are used as raw material inputs, that do not involve energy or transportation:

1) Plastics
2) Fertilizers
3) Chemicals (broad range outside of the categories below))
4) Synthetics (rubber, textile, etc)
5) Detergents
6) Paints and coatings
7) Solvents
8) Medicine
9) Cosmetics
10) Lubricants

Silly Euros will have to buy oil for a long time yet.

Enough oil to last hundreds of years in the gound

... and probably underground reservoirs is constantly replenished by hydrocarbons vapors from the mantle. At least some oil wells in northern Russia that was considered depleted in 1950's is starting to push concrete "plugs" and oil shows around them.

If oil will become scarce and there will be no economical alternative for vehicles and (especially) planes - coal and Fischer-Tropsch process on nuclear-generated electricity may allow to continue using well-developed traditional engines.

Bobko

constantly replenished by hydrocarbons vapors from the mantle.

???

I doubt it.

I would like to read the dissertation or paper that claims this.

What is more likely is that the reservoir has become flooded completely. As you well know, oil floats on water. So then water could push oil back to the top of a depleted reservoir. It doesn't mean the reservoir is magically full of oil again after you left it unused for 40 years.

I don't think there can be any oil in the mantle. Density is too low, and not clear how it would go through impermeable layers.

I have no doubt that oil will be around forever. How else would the US MICC have NATO and the wars? How would a tank run on Sun?

Bobko
19 Dec 2023  #1241

How would a tank run on Sun?

Instead of 70 tons, a M1 Abrams will have to weigh 110 tons. The extra 40 tons will be for lithium-ion batteries.

The track length and width will have to be lengthened and widened, so that ground pressure doesn't exceed 1.5 KG per cm2. Otherwise the tank will sink into the ground under its own weight.

Engineer companies will have to unfold 150 hectar expeditionary solar panels along the path of the tank's movement.

That many typo's shows that you are not sober.Neither physically or mentally.
Only a very small part of Russia could be viewed as being in Europe. Most of it is in Asia.

The electric vehicle is already dead

Spot on, it has no future, though hybrids will survive.

Euros will have to buy oil for a long time yet.

And so will everyone else.Oil is far from dead.

I have no doubt that oil will be around forever.

Me too!

I don't know what Paulina will think about this video. But this is my opinion, the woman is a dangerous and misguided Communist and the presenter of this video has "that voice".... that woke voice... you all know what I mean.

And in todays news from Ukraine Z finally adress's the manpower issue, after the military stated Ukraine will have to mobilize a half million more men. Z stated that such a mobilization would cost an additional 13.5 billion USD. He also stated that he is not sure if mobilization of that many people is possible or "fair". Isnt this the same guy that said they would fight to "the last Ukrainian"?

Again I ask for the umpteenth time, why hasn't Ukraine gone to a full war time economy and full mobilization? I think we can start to draw some conclusions about financing and corruption now. After nearly two years we are just now hearing these discussions about military heads calling for a half million more men? Imagine they would have fully mobilized last spring and actually did what they were told by the US. Money wouldnt be a problem now because that would have show the congress that Z was in it to win. This kind of Z talk is exactly why congress is debating sending money.

@polamkrakow
the Ukrainian quasi civil conflict between the different Ukri factions is about to kick off. As in the past it'll take the US ambassador (is it still Geoffrey?) to lay down the, with threats of violence and money, to quieten down. that's how you deal with the Ukrainian oligarchs, ie mafia. why? because loosing Ukraine is against Americas vital national security interest.

PolAmKrakow

@amiga500
I am starting to think otherwise my friend. I dont see the security interest in Ukraine for the US as being anything more than making sure proofs against Biden's son do not get out that could potentially implicate Biden. I see that it is definitely an EU security interest that Ukraine wins, but what is the definition of winning now? Even if I agree that it is in the US vital interests, what is a "win" at this point?

I think its becoming clear that Z cannot be trusted to tell the truth, even Klitschko is questioning him publicly. Lots of things pointing to a man who has become a dictator. Oulawing political parties of any kind whether they are pro Russian or even supporting Z is really reminiscent of the man with the fiunny mustache. Marshal law and no elections while other countries have had elections under marshal law. No full mobilization, yet men cannot leave the country? Clearly lots of men are getting into Poland of fighting age, they are all over. Dont get me wrong, I want Ukraine to win, but there are a lot of questions that need answering IMO.

That's only because they successfully conquered those territories. it didn't magically become part of Russia. Russia as a whole was always European or came from the Kievan Rus. they expanded eastwards later on.

In many ways Russia is more European than Poland is. again I already stated colonies and the fact they had international recognition and presence as a European power within Asia say during chinas opiumw rs and boxer rebellion. no one ever cared about Poland or even mentioned it during those times or polish people and its not much different now.

read Russian history during Peter the greats tie when Poland believe was just a Russian colony like most Americans still think it is today. they really modernized it and made it up to European standards. the dresses wigs everything was European.

IN VIDEO: RUSSIAN SOLDIERS CAPTURED POLISH MERCENARY IN KHERSON REGION

The Pole was wounded and abandoned on the battlefield after other militants from his group escaped. He was found by Russian servicemen, who provided him with the first aid and evacuated to safe rear areas:

"Are you a Pole? How did you get here?" Russian fighters asked their POW.

I dont see the security interest in Ukraine for the US

@Polam. Losing a bit of Ukraine due to negotiations which is what we both agree on, meh, no big deal. Esp that land is useless, obsolete soviet tech and mined to the gills. The canadian-ukranian political scientist alexander motyl argued for this in 2014, just give russia the donbass, its useless land anyway.

Losing the whole of Ukraine to Russia's Sphere of Influence, Very Bad and against USA vital national security interest.

Hoping to make a fast buck. Mercenaries have no nationality - dogs of war, fighting for anyone who pays.

What worries me more is that we seem to be sending brand new weapons to Ukraine...

businessinsider.com.pl/technologie/polskie-raki-w-ukrainie-kolejny-hit-naszej-zbrojeniowki-sprawdzi-sie-na-froncie/21xwg3x

... I thought we were supposed to create the strongest army in Europe, not send the newest generation weapons to a country who didn't even see fit to conduct proper mobilization two years into the war. :-/

The Raks were sent before the government change, in all the post-electoral chaos, the transition in power etc. Hopefully the new government will adopt a more realistic approach in their eastern policies.

Tacitus

not send the newest generation weapons to a country

It is better to send weapons so other can use it than to keep them and being forced to use them yourself (and possibly die while doing so). If the USA does not renew its' support, then the Europeans will have to step up.

Unless you prefer fighting Russia directly within the next few years.

Torq
21 Dec 2023  #1257

Unless you prefer fighting Russia directly within the next few years.

The chances are that we will have to fight Russia within the next few years anyway. The chances are that the weapons we sent will be used against us.

I don't mind sending all the post-Soviet stuff - send away, clear the magazines. But we need those damn Krabs, Pioruns, Raks etc. ourselves. We are building the strongest land army in Europe for a reason, and Ukraine - who allegedly fights a horrible war for their very existence - couldn't even be arsed conducting a proper mobilisation. Wtf? It all stinks.

Tacitus
21 Dec 2023  #1258

The chances are that we will have to fight Russia

True, but the longer Russia fights Ukraine, the weaker it will be at this point and we will have more time to prepare.

the weapons we sent will be used against us.

That would only be a problem if Ukraine suddenly collapses. The Ukrainians have so far put our weapons to good use and besides, even if the Russian capture them, they lack the knowledge to maintain them.

Furthermore the Ukrainian war has given us valuable feedback on how to improve them.

But we need those damn

There is a good that we won't need them if we continue to support Ukraine.

be arsed conducting a proper mobilisation

Do you think the Ukrainians are not properly fighting the Russians after 2 almost two years of war and likely more than 100k casualties?

You have probably read the reasoning behind the decision. The Ukrainians can only train so many new recruits at a time, and they can not afford to sacrifice them like the Russians do because they have less people and because doing so would weaken domestic support. Not to mention that they also need a modicum of economic activities to keep the country afloat.

PolAmKrakow
21 Dec 2023  #1259

@amiga500
I dont think all of Ukraine is lost or will be. Ukraine, mainly Z, should have made a deal by now. Not making a deal, and not fully mobilizing, makes zero sense. This is not how you win or defend your country. The US strategy is to take this war into 2025. This was leaked the other day. Can Ukraine hold out that long? Will Biden be able to finance it that long? The answer to both of those is probably no. So WTF are they doing? What is the end game? There is no clear strategy. I am just very suspicious when people cannot clearly explain what the end goal is and how they intend to get there. And more suspicious, when leadership makes statements that are not backed up by their actions.

Torq

You have probably read the reasoning behind the decision (...) Not to mention that they also need a modicum of economic activities to keep the country afloat.

I read all there is to read and I still think that Ukraine has only simulated a counter-offensive instead of actually conducting it.

More than a modicum of economic support has been granted to Ukraine by the US and the EU. Where all the money has gone is still to be accounted for, but what we already know about the corruption in Ukraine is staggering.

A country that is allegedly fighting for its very survival not even conducting proper mobilisation is, frankly, ridiculous. And, as our friend Bobko informed us, there are voices rising already in Ukraine that they should join Russia and "march West" together. Maybe it's only my Polish paranoia but I don't consider it a totally unlikely scenario.

If Wojsko Polskie builds up its forces properly and if Bundeswehr builds up its forces properly, it will be more than enough for Russians to reconsider any aggressive actions towards NATO, and that's what we should concentrate on at the moment.
