Rus is about Religion, so the name derives from Greek monks in Kive where it was used first and for some time. That is a historical fact, not debatable.
It very much is debatable. In fact, I will go so far as to say that you are completely wrong.
Rus' has nothing to do with religion, or Greeks, or even Kiev.
According to Wikipedia:
The name Rus', like the Proto-Finnic name for Sweden (*Ruotsi), supposed to be descended from an Old Norse term for "the men who row" (rods-) as rowing was the main method of navigating the rivers of Eastern Europe, and that it could be linked to the Swedish coastal area of Roslagen or Roden, as it was known in earlier times.Basically, it could either mean "rowers" or "Swedes".
The founder of the Russian state, Rurik, ruled from Novgorod. His successor, Oleg the Seer, who acted as regent for Rurik's son Igor, was the one who conquered other Slavic tribes to the South and eventually moved the capital to Kiev.
Bottom line: Russia's name comes from the Vikings that founded the Russian state. The Russian state was not founded in Kiev, but in Novgorod. There were no Greeks within 1,000 miles of Novgorod in the 9th century.
If Ukraine is really the descendant of Rus, they should be able to show the path from Rurik to Vladimir Zelensky - they can't.
Meanwhile we can easily show, how Rurik leads to Yaroslav the Wise - Yaroslav the Wise to Ivan the Terrible - Ivan the Terrible to Peter the Great - Peter the Great to Vladimir Lenin - Vladimir Lenin to Vladimir Putin (skipping dozens of generations for simplicity's sake).
P.S. I feel I may have just done a Putin.
