led to the death of 100,000+ Frenchmen,

This brought a smile to my ugly face. My grin will be even wider when Russia brings death to NATO - my enemy #1.

It is evident that there is something very sick about Western Europe. No other part of the world created so many isms, started so many world wars, and subjugated so many places all over the globe as these mother fvckers.

The Muslim invasion is as poetic as it is ironic...especially in Sweden and the UK.
Instead of fighting the invasion, these morons changed the definition of "rape" and muzzled the natives with "hate speech" laws.

🇷🇺 FPV drones of the Armed Forces of Russia destroy the Armed Forces of Ukraine in all directions, destroying dugouts, observation posts and clearing infantry, preparing the way for assault units.

The Muslim invasion is as poetic as it is ironic..

It was the French that stopped the greatest Muslim invasion of Europe in history. Then, Islamic armies were rushing out of Spain, intent on conquering France.

Charlemagne's grandpa, Charles Martel, stopped the Andalusian army at Tours, saving France and probably the rest of Western Europe from Islamization.

Ironic, then, that the current Islamization of France is happening as a consequence of its own conquests in North and West Africa, and the Levant.

If France had not made Algeria a French department, if it had not controlled the Lebanon, and if it did not mess around in the Sahel - it would not be dealing with its current cultural schizophrenia.

If France had not made Algeria a French department,

This, just as the Brits giving special privileges to the colonized, is proof positive that Western Euros are both evil and insane.

Please tell Putin not to invade Western Europe. Dealing with morons is tedious and not rewarding...It's like drinking antifreeze...tastes sweet but will eventually kill you...

Not French but Franks.

Literally the same thing.

The Western Franks turned into the Kingdom of France. The Eastern Franks turned into the Holy Roman Empire.

The Middle Franks (also called Lotharingians after Lothair I), got absorbed by the two bigger cousins, or broken up into smaller kingdoms like Burgundy and Provence.

Russian church blasts Vatican over gay blessings

The Catholic church's view on same-sex couples goes against Christian teachings, Russian priests argue

The Vatican's recent decision to permit the blessings of same-sex couples is a deviation from the Christian faith, the Russian Orthodox Church has said.

According to a statement published on the church's website, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow asked the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission to "analyze" the document adopted by the Vatican in December 2023.

The commission met on Tuesday and "unanimously agreed that this novelty represents a drastic departure from Christian moral teachings," the statement read.

Kirill said in the past that the Russian Orthodox Church would "never" endorse same-sex marriage and has condemned "the dangerous and destructive LGBT ideology." The church's views are consistent with the position of the Russian authorities, which in December 2022 vastly expanded the existing ban on "LGBT propaganda."

The Vatican's declaration titled 'Fiducia Supplicans' was authored by two top officials at the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith - Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernandez and Father Armando Matteo. The document examines "the possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples without officially validating their status or changing in any way the Church's perennial teaching on marriage."

According to the declaration, Catholic priests can bless same-sex couples. However, "this blessing should never be imparted in concurrence with the ceremonies of a civil union... nor can it be performed with any clothing, gestures, or words that are proper to a wedding."

The authors argued that the text was based on "the pastoral vision" of Pope Francis, who has been described as more friendly toward same-sex couples and members of the LGBTQ community than his predecessors.

Cardinal Fernandez was appointed to lead the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in July 2023. According to the Associated Press, he wrote a book in the late 1990s titled 'The Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality', which contains graphic descriptions of human sexual activity.

As far as I understood, the Vatican is not blessing same sex marriages, but simply blessing the people within.

I wonder if the Russian Orthodox Church doesn't have other more pressing problems, than worrying over goings on in the Catholic world.

Well... sort of - yes.

The original Gauls were a Celtic people. Then the Romans came, and over the centuries emerged a new Gallo-Roman race of people. Finally, came the Franks (after many other Germanic tribes went through the region), and kicked the ass of the local Gallo-Romans.

Yet you can still find statues to Vercingetorix in France today. For some reason, the French really romanticize the Gallic portion of their history, even though the Gauls were historic losers.

Patriarch Kirill

An ex-KGB mafioso..

He should probably be in gaol for quite a few things.

the Vatican is not blessing same sex marriages

Indeed it isn't, however the Montenegrin likes hysteria and has 'issues' over certain matters.

In general, Western Europe is German.

France is of the Franks.

Britain has the Saxons, Angles, and Frisians.

Spain has the Vandals and Visigoths.

Northern Italy the Lombards and others.

All these lands were former Celtic lands. The Celts likely wiped out whoever was there before.

Now the Celts are crowded into Brittany and random corners of the British isles. However, based on the tattoos people wear in the streets, you would think the Celts were still "poppin".

Bratwurst Boy
27 Feb 2024  #2119

True! When one hears today "Celtic" he thinks about GB, not Hallstatt in Austria...

...The oldest archaeological evidence of the Celts comes from Hallstatt, Austria, near Salzburg. Excavated graves of chieftains there, dating from about 700 bce,....

They couldn't withstand the Romans. Then, they couldn't withstand the Germans.

As a Russian - the Celts get no respect from me.

Funny tattoos though, and retarded football fans.

the Celts get no respect from me.

You should! There is no shame in losing against the worlds mightiest Empire...and they fought for centuries!

Not to forget that they had the big disadvantage of being more civilized back than as the more barbarian Germans. Gaul had towns and roads and generally an infrastructure which made it easy to be ruled, also for a conqueror....impossible with tribes hiding in deep forests! :)

Britain has the Saxons, Angles, and Frisians

And many or most of us have Celtic roots, plus of course there has been significant inward migration from further afield. We aren't an ethnostate.

random corners of the British isles

Neither random nor corners.

Quite a few people with Celtic heritage in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and in the USA.

Yeah I see them everyday, at the local Irish pub.

The Irish can claim to be Celts, and there's many of them in the places you mentioned.

The only reason they're such pure blooded Celts, is because their godforsaken island never represented a point of interest to anyone except English muppets.

An Englishman claiming he is a Celt is another thing entirely. You're a Franco-German-Roman mutt. Live with it.

The only reason they're such pure-blooded Celts,

Nah, those are 19th-century points of view that remained somewhat in the 20th century, The prevailing scientific theory nowadays is that the Celts had been a cultural entity, not a tribal entity, and that means that so-called blood ties weren't a requirement.

Acidentally the same is true for the Slaves.

jon357
27 Feb 2024  #2129

The Irish can claim to be Celts

And Scots, Welsh, Cornish, Manx and several million English.

An Englishman claiming he is a Celt is another thing entirely

DNA tests don't lie, nor does one's identity depend on DNA; family environment is more important.

Not that historical ancestry means anything at al in factl. It's who you are now and how you identify that matters. A German whose grandparents are from Anatolia is as German as one whose grandparents are from Cologne and a Pole whose grandparents are from Peru is as Polish as one whose grandparents are from Sieradz, if that is who they feel they are.

Anyway, russians are a complete mix of origins. And Celtic identity isn't really relevant to the thread.

Do you like your pet? Do you fvck it?

No, I didn't take part in that online video your daughter made.

Hmmm....that German who visits regularly his grandparents in Istanbul for Ramadan might differ....

Cultural identity is alot more than ID card and birth place!
