Worth noting that in a "negotatied settlement" made along the current front russia does not hold all of any of the oblasts it now claims and neither Kharkiv, Odesa or Kyiv (all declared goals at the beginning).

Times change and original goals are weighted against other matters such as gradual sanctions relief and gradually getting their money back.
