To be honest, if we compare the Russian and the US policies, Russia comes on top.
Whether we like their imperial ambition, whether or not we think they are worthy to have such ambition, their policy toward Ukraine is certainly logical and is in the interests of Moscow (as they see it). Without Ukraine, Russia can't be a global power, and its ability to project power in Europe is limited.
So it is clear why, from the perspective and geopolitical reality, they pursue such a policy.
The US attack on Iran, on the other hand, is not in the interest of the US. Regardless of whether they will win their war or not (my bet is they will not), they are shooting themselves in the foot.
It clearly goes against their long-term and short-term interests.
It's sad to see American plebs are cheering for this war, ignorant people who do not know any better.

Why would controle over Ukraine somehow make Russia a global power? Ukraine was before the war started a poor country by European standards. The combined GDP would be between Italy and France. It has ressources sure, but that is hardly something that Russia lacks right now. Even with a fully subjugated Ukrainian population, Russia would still have only approx. 160m people.

Russia doesn't need Ukraine to be powerful. It has the potential to be wealthy and powerful (though not a world power, that is something only the USA and China can lay claim to) if it focused on domestic development instead of wasting its' ressources through and foreign adventures.

The fact Russia is too shitscared to attack any NATO member is the best proof that NATO expansion was needed and necessary - it provided security to numerous countries, including three former Soviet republics that Moscow would love to snatch back under its control.
