I notice you didn't actually give any examples of these failed empires with the vast plains of wild dogs and whatnot. Same as you didn't give me any examples of successful monocultural 'civilisations', or ones that are more successful than the ones I said, or ones that aren't now defunct.

A multicultural society has to be an authoritarian one (or break down). If you are lucky, you will get a Singaporean style autocracy with capable leaders, if not, you get authoritarianism (or rather anarcho tyranny, which is increasingly observable in the West) without any benefits.

As more and more frauds managed to sneak into Rome and get Roman citizenship, we notice that at the same time they were campaigning against temple fires at night during an extraordinary crime wave, claiming the ash from the temple fires was poisoning the crops (just as now, severely hurting the economy and destroying jobs like collecting wood for each night's fires). Extinguishing the fires at night plunged the city into darkness where formerly the streets remained illuminated by these vast braziers burning until dawn. This resulted in a crime wave from the new diversity friends who began to loot, rape and murder with impunity. Then as now, many of the leaders of Roman society including Nero were rumored to be turning the city into their own personal fun park of horror at night, participating avidly in murdering and raping both males and females. (Sometimes in that order) This was the exact same point at which (just as now) large numbers of Romans who could afford it began to move to large walled villas in the countryside. (Exact same pattern as now, exact same causes)

This was also the exact same time that Roman politics polarized sharply into sane and insane people (just as now) with one of the factions arguing for action and the other side actively cheering on the destruction of all safety within the borders of Rome. We know this because literature records violent debates that culminated in stabbings on the Senate floor and frequent murders of political opponents (just as now) along with widespread voting fraud. (At one point the chits of the Roman Senate were emptied out before the count began and it was immediately obvious they had been replaced with all "YEA" chits on a very contentious issue, with the Senate floor erupting into physical altercations until the guard had to be called to dispel a possible riot.) I believe that then as now, when the insane faction lost one of their political initiatives, they were sore losers who would go out and urge the Hoi Polloi to run wild and threaten the members of their opposition in their homes that evening.
