Yes that is one tactic but his preferred way of working however is to avoid being interviewed, avoid taking questions in parliament and lie about it if necessary.

As for his subordinates they are very poor and ill-informed 1 no high-quality people will want to work for a vainglorious sleazebag like him

people don't automatically become a smart choice just because they were voted in.

And in Trump's case......I voted for the lesser of two evils.
Sure Trump is a shyster but Crooked Hillary was even a bigger shyster.

To get that damn wall and deport all the illegal garbage I would vote for a serial murderer.

Any normal thinking person would Rich.

@Maf, I'm not "falling for" anything!
We all recognize Johnson for the Clown-in-Residence that he is.
So what's the problem?

Heck, it's already almost the end of January and the chances of his getting consensus in this Brexit stuff are
of a snowball's chance in hell:-)

the chances of his getting consensus in this Brexit stuff

It's not about 'consensus' it's about enacting the will of the people as expressed in three consecutive elections.... and he's done it.

theguardian.com/politics/2020/jan/23/boris-johnsons-brexit-bill-becomes-law

It's an impressive achievement no matter how little Bojo seems to care about dignity in public (or private).

it's about enacting the will of the people as expressed in three consecutive elections

What I still don't understand is why they turned an originally non-binding referendum into a binding one. It would've been easy for anyone involved to make a U-turn after the vote.

Switzerland Is The Strongest Economy In Europe.
They talk about making Britain more like Switzerland.
That would be a great thing.
Switzerland is not in the EU and they have the strongest economy in Europe.
Without NATO and the U.S.A. the E.U. will become a has been.
The Brits are getting out while the getting is good.

What is really inspiring is how huge the margin of BJ's victory was. We call it "the mandate" - no bs, no asterisks. Done.

It would've been easy for anyone involved to make a U-turn after the vote.

That's what they tried - and the voters didn't like it!

Switzerland though has ZERO manufacturing! For umpteen years now, she's outsourced much of her native industry.
Her migrant population's all but zilch in the scheme of things, and so, if you have such a homogeneous, small country, it's easy to pick and choose who will be hired and how much the going rates will be, since YOU then have the ultimate advantage:-)

Having been isolated for centuries by virtue of her location, Switzerland has always felt superior to her neighbors having to adopt to a changing world. She doesn't belong to NATO, EU, she still only has observer status at the UN, she's never been forced to adopt the euro etc.

No that is wrong. On a per head basis it is Luxembourg. On a total basis it is Germany. both are in the EU.

Switzerland is any case part of the single market, which Britain wants to leave.

The richest European country that is not in the single market is Russia (61st on the world, most of which is spent on helicopters and gold plated cellphones for a handful of its citizens) - however Russia is way behind all the EU countries except Bulgaria.

However look Switzerland's watchmaking industry. Even that has fallen victim to globalization!

Luxembourg, Switzerland, Lichtenstein... same difference:-)

How do you measure "rich"?
In terms of size and natural resources, Russia certainly is just that. Yet in terms of GDP??

Was surprised on my last trip to the states to sit in a meeting of bankers and lawyers and half were wearing ugly but very useful Apple Watches. 10 years ago would have been all Swiss watches.

There you go.

We all recognize Johnson for the Clown-in-Residence that he is

You don't count, only the British electorate count and we think that you don't know what you are talking about.
Just political opinion, no facts.

Her migrant population's all but zilch in the scheme of things

Where do you get your facts from????
Immigrants make up about 25% of Switzerlands population.......worse than most European countries.....

The Brits are getting out while the getting is good

Yeah, before that fragile Titanic sinks.... :-)

Switzerland had in fact for many years the lowest migrant rate until at least the late '90's!
The presence of a migrant work force does not always accurately reflect those companies which either employ or then unemploy either full or part-time staff.

Outsourcing though remains a mainstay of the Swiss economy, if only to keep competitive with the rest of Europe.

@Milo,
My observations concerning your PM are easily as "valid" as yours as regards our sitting president.

Miloslaw
27 Jan 2020  #2988

But I don't really comment on your president, because it is none of my business.

Switzerland had in fact for many years the lowest migrant rate until at least the late '90's!

Times change..... and quite dramatically...... 1 in 4 people living in Switzerland is a migrant!!!!
That is unbelievable.

@Milo,

Threats to world democracy are everybody's business! Do you live in a vacuum, sir?

Miloslaw
27 Jan 2020  #2990

And you think Boris Johnson is a threat to democracy?
Ever thought of becoming a stand up comedian?

She doesn't belong to NATO, EU,

...but "she" gets all the benefits as if "she" belonged - just as Belize benefits from the proximity to the US without spending a dime on defense.

1 in 4 people living in Switzerland is a migrant!!!!

I've read that 'migrants' in Switzerland are mostly from neighboring or other European countries

Lyzko

Nonetheless, a foreign-born person in a more or less century-long homogeneous community will tend to stand out! An alluring source of cheap labor to a boss (foreign or domestic) might well be see as a threat to homegrown staff, put out of work because an employer can get their services for less!

I realize incidentally that union regulations in Switzerland, as traditionally throughout most of Western Europe, are no-end stricter than here in the States.
Nevertheless, I've learned through Swiss colleagues of mine that even there, regulations are becoming slightly more "Americanized".
There's still no "hire-and-fire" culture as there is here!

The Berlin Funkturm says "Good Bye" to the Brits

Rich Mazur

There's still no "hire-and-fire" culture as there is here!

In a hired-never-fired "culture" like in Western Europe, productivity trends toward zero while the workers' affection for their smartphones and the Internet is on the increase.

It's amazing how soothing those "we will never fire you" words can be.

The Berlin Funkturm says "Good Bye" to the Brits

And what is that supposed to mean?
It looks like a red hot penis, with blue bits... WTF?

Bratwurst Boy
31 Jan 2020  #2997

What do you think????

It's your flag!

From the paper:

".... Die blau-weiß-rote Beleuchtung bis Samstag sei ein "weithin sichtbares Zeichen der Verbundenheit" anlässlich des EU-Austritts Großbritanniens, erklärte der Chef der Messe Berlin, Christian Göke, am Donnerstag. An die Briten richtete er - frei nach einem bekannten englischen Fußball-Song - die Botschaft:"You'll never trade alone! Die Messe Berlin erwartet Euch!"..."

@Bratwurst Boy
No it's not.... where is the white???
The predominant colour in our flag?

Bratwurst Boy

It's there...the text speaks of blue-white-red illumination....squint harder!!! :)

Miloslaw
31 Jan 2020  #3000

@Bratwurst Boy

It is awful and actually, quite insulting due to the lack of attention to detail.
Typical EU...... just useless.....
And the text is in German.... a language that most Europeans can't speak..... try English, a language that most Europeans can speak...... yawn....
