Fatalities (daily total) 28, age range 34-96, average age 75 (highest daily total in a few months, let's see what the next few days bring....)

Number of active cases (running total) + 357 = 13,768

Hospitalizations (running total) - 22 = 1971

Ventilators in use, + 4 = 89

Number tested (daily total) = 22,000

Cured (daily total) 589 which is 60 % the number of discovered cases..

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 21 times more cured cases than fatalities.

I read the other day that there will be no vaccines available for children.
They are going to practice on us adults first.

Berenson assumes that Japan is past the worst and about 4-5 weeks ahead of Europe (and lockdowns do not/cannot stop transmission all they do is delay it).

the tests they use are so sensitive that they detect antibodies long after the person no longer has the virus (which is very uneventful for people who aren't very old and/or very sick)

Also, the world's largest for-profit funeral company estimates that 1/3 of 2020 covid deaths would have died before the end of 2020 and most of the rest would have died before the end of 2021 (also linked at berenson's twitter page)

Cured (daily total) 582 which is 36 % the number of discovered cases..

Ratio of cured to fatalities (daily) there were 25 times more cured cases than fatalities.

Good news of the day...

More testing more positive results... but hospitalization rates are nowhere close to keeping up with positive results...

One comment there is good: The media narrative has shifted from fatalities (not that exciting since most fatalities are very old and fragile and/or very sick people) to raw number of positive test results (a very misleading metric).

Of course panic addicts will jump on the new infection numbers to keep their adrenaline fix going....

The vaccine should be tested on politicians first.
If they survive, the vaccine is safe.
If they don't, the country is safe.

Yes they have - 40 people died yesterday in the UK, in April it was more like 900 a day

Aaah, if you count since April, then yes, you are right, death tolls have dropped everywhere. I thought we were counting from August.

it's a very dramatic contrast....

I chose France because new case numbers have been so dramatic there and most countries don't really keep easily findable hospitalization numbers....
