Well there's so much secrecy involved it's hard to get a clear picture of what's going on.....
Andrew Hammel pointed out that in Germany information on who's getting infected and where and how are treated like state secrets - while this is exactly the type of information that is needed to formulate effective health policy.
In Poland it's not clear how many.... incentives doctors have to declare deaths 'covid related'.... though there are anecdotal cases of people who clearly died of other causes being counted as covid cases (including those dying from conditions that were untreated because of covid restrictions in hospitals).
No reporters seem very interested in looking at any economic incentives medical personnel have to keep things going (though, again, informally, they're being paid at higher rates for covid cases).
The trend to wrest decision making away from the public or elected officials and to give it to technocrats and covid together are a terrible combination....
