Coronavirus in Poland

jon357

So we are all in the hot seat for at least a full year....we should better get used to it.

Sooner or later it will start to hit home hard. Poland, I suspect, will come out of this better than many places; people are taking the precautions very seriously.

Yeah...learn from the errors of others!

This is sadly what will happen, especially across the Atlantic where people are still going to restaurants and bars.

There'll probably, somewhere, be a shooting incident due to The Virus. Not in Poland though.

roast it with apple. People do that already...

Yes, they count on a hare inside the duck.

Oops, a known doctor, infected, committed suicide. However, the main reason was hate campaign against him after he had come back from a foreign trip last week. What people accused him of isn`t revealed yet.

I got email from acswarsaw that Fuging US govt is doing nothing to evacuate Americans but suggested that LOT is flying to Chicago on 19th and book seats in that. While Polish govt is chartering flights to evacuate poles and bring them home.

Polish Health Ministry, among others, advises healthy people not to wear masks as useless.

Definitely two distinct cultures that handle things differently when push becomes shove.
Americans use guns, Poles use pitchforks and where you come from in London they use knives.
The restaurants and bars are mostly closed over here jon so all your sarcastic banter shows is your ignorance.
No matter in Poland or any other country we must come to the conclusion that ALL of us will be contracting this virus sooner or later in the next year or two.

Once the MADITORY vaccinations are introduce it will decline but my gut tells me that it will be on earth for the rest of our life time.

"Once the MADITORY vaccinations are introduce it will decline but my gut tells me that it will be on earth for the rest of our life time."

This is probably the most accurate statement made lately. Bird Flu and others are still active globally, and are now treated through the regular flu shot cycles. While treatment is good in the future, the real issue is what can be done to keep this from happening repeatedly?

China, IMO needs to face the music financially from the rest of the world. Multiple times now, these "wet markets" have caused an infectious outbreak. Multiple times they have tried to cover it up until it could not be contained.

While people begin complaining about non politically correct names for this Coronavirus strain, the fact is that China is responsible, and should be held accountable to the rest of the world.

While I am not a PIS supporter, I am actually pretty impressed with the action taken here. Considering the initial inaction in the US, Poland is doing a pretty good job at keeping things in order.

This is the key; vaccinations are a good think; we need to keep safe until we have a vaccine.

It seems to be working so far. The UK is finally doing something at last; public disorder (like the 2011 riots) is something they were probably trying to avoid at all cost.

Americans use guns, Poles use pitchforks

Pitchforks are rare here. As for 'using' guns, the more sparingly the better. Sooner or later there will be a Covid-19 related shooting.

305 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Poland altogether as of today's morning (19 March 2020).

325 confirmed cases at midday here in Poland (only 5 people died so far) of which 66 in Mazovia, 53 in Lower Silesia and 48 in Łódzkie.

All urban areas. This seems consistent with the spread of the virus elsewhere.

The response to the crisis is still being managed well here.

As a neutral observer, you know what you are saying. Coz I thought PiS has flunked the job as usual.

jon357

flunked the job

Hard to say that any country has a perfect response. The partial lockdown does at least seem effective.

pawian
19 Mar 2020  #619

Yes, but I don`t count it as it is the easiest thing to do - a minister goes out to reporters and announces his/her decree about the shut down. Very exhausting work, indeed.

I meant organisational chaos in hospitals, the shortage of tests, lack of enough medical staff etc etc.

China knew something new and potent was going for weeks before they told the world. Hard to have a perfect response with so much valuable time lost.

pawian
19 Mar 2020  #621

Yes, but the virus spread in China for weeks and PiS government could use that time to prepare. Now PiS is so surprised that the virus has reached us, too.

It's not bad - life is manageable and we can still go outside and I am eating and living healthier.

Kids are driving me crazy though :(

Very worried about the economy too - zloty really going down now and the govt burned all the wood during the summer so not easy to fight that

If they were indeed idle and not preparing, you have very legitimate argument.

One thing being done in Poland (or, at least, in Poznan) that I think is very smart is designating one particular hospital to treat COVID19 cases, instead of spreading them across a host of hospitals.

Yes, it is Poland wide. That is what I was talking about - PiS could have prepared the list of such hospitals before the outbreak. Now patients who used to go to those hospitals for regular treatment are told to go somewhere else. Where? Nobody knows.

There is total chaos and the government is to blame for it.

Yeah, but if you wanted to get an extra hour of sleep, you'd blame PiS for the sun rising. :)

Sooner or later there will be a Covid-19 related shooting.

Sooner or later there will be a ChinaVirus stabbing in London. You just cant resit taking shots at the USA even with serious matters. Such a sad troll!

There is total chaos and the government is to blame for it.

This is 100% Chinas fault, not the government. All we can do is try and mitigate for now.
