Coronavirus in Poland

My cousin was telling me some dude got fined for going to the grocery store and buying only beer and some chips. I guess he didn't buy enough stuff or what he bought wasn't considered "essential."

That just seems so ridiculous to me. This is one of the few times where I'd rather be in the USA than Poland. Most retail stores, restaurants, etc. are closed to the public but at least you can drive around, hang out with friends, play poker, etc. Lately the weather has been getting nicer so I've been on the hog more often.

Its a prison here man.Just talking to people on phones.its been 6 days that I have stepped out of the building,just to throw garbage at the garbage chute.Lonliness is creeping up.I wonder how will people behave once they are let out.At least in USA my wife just takes a 30 mile drive in the car,goes to the yard etc.

I see some of the living starting to find it hard; sooner or later somebody will crack in a big way.

A buck against a dime it's because these freaks live by and will never give up some idiotic rules that made sense 10,000 years ago.

Planty was closed off yesterday. More Police patrols everywhere. Very nice weather starting. I think "authorities" are going to start having a more difficult time managing people pretty soon. In my neighborhood, we have a nice planty area everyone walks their dogs in. Yesterday, people sitting on the benches reading books and getting sun, and today is going to be a lot nicer as will be the rest of the week. Still everyone social distancing, in public.

The problem as I see it this week. When Planty is closed, and people break out for a walk, the closure of Planty funnels everyone into more confined spaces. More infections will come by closing off these parks I think, with warmer weather. Nearly four weeks into this now, people simply aren't going to take too much more control, and with Easter on Sunday, you can bet families are still going to be together in big groups. Lets hope this is the week numbers start to drop, if not, then I can see them accelerating again next week.

I'm alive and kicking and I'm not staying at home. Especially now when the weather is great :-) You folks can stay in your cellars for the rest of the year if you want ;-P

They said this would last until Easter and so I am planning next week to be like normal. Will go out and exercise whenever I feel like it. I dont know how we got to the point where the police can check what kind of shopping you have but I don't think its worth to carry on like that indefinitely.

this will now be the 5th week - ample time for them to have done a whole lot more testing than they have managed, and they are still wasting time with politics.

That's the real takeaway, rather than make dealing with the virus priority number one they were sidelined by JK's maniacal lust to hold on to power (and to wheel and deal behind the scenes).

Yes - I think there are 4-5 guys who are doing their job (I'm quite impressed by the treasury for example who have steadied the zloty and stopped cash outflows) but the rest mainly see this as an exercise in keeping Jaroslaw or Rydzyk happy

Yes, you can easily afford it coz you are alone in London - all your close family is in Poland.
If you were married, with kids and with elderly parents around, you would sing another song. Or would you still be so irresponsible????

Things won't be back to normal next week. I just read that Morawiecki says Poland is only at the beginning and expects the peak of infection in Poland to be in May and June so don't expect restrictions to be lifted. They will carry on until at least the end of April. After that, who knows?

Restrictions will have to be lifted here in May, or the elections wont proceed like PiS wants. Voting by mail will be a fraud. Looking at all the data shows that this week will be peak infection rates. Over the next two weeks, peak death rates. Then the curve starts downward. Just in time for May.

Businesses won't last until June - 80 percent can only survive 3 months. Food supply, distribution and infrastructure simply have to get working again whatever the rate of infection.

Something is not adding up here.
How can one day this virus be a threat but not the next day ?
Has China realized that they have to get their economy booming again or starve ?

Exactly - wait I understand no football games, no Cinema, no pubs etc. but some of the rules are just nonsensical - today it's OK to bike on a path but not on a path in the forest. Ok to buy juice but not beer. Ok to wash your clothes but not your car.

Most of these rules of no logic regarding the virus and we're just dreamed up every few days to make it look like they were doing something.

All those quarantine stats which you can read on news portals are being obtained from mobile carriers who track every sigle device location to draw a map: who stays at home, who go out and where. They are even open about it. Something which would be outrageous just 2 months ago suggenly becomes "normal".

What's outrageous about it? The UK has been doing exactly that sort of thing for years, as it was one of their main tools against the IRA in the 1990's. You couldn't move in South Armagh without being tracked.
