European News and Poland Thread 2

Easy to understand why people, rich and poor alike, prefer the European systems.

Not necessarily as the rich can pay for the best medical treatment available.
The poor have the welfare system that pays 100% of their medical bills.
And we don't have to wait two years for an elective operation.

penniless due to medical treatment.

Most people are smart enough to hire a good attorney to hide most of their wealth under their mattress before they run up huge medical bills say to cancer or declare bankruptcy.

I will admit however that the Healthcare system in the U.S. needs a major overhaul.
I could go on for pages about WHY and How it is fcked up.

Boris Becker tried that. He's finally been released from jail and deported.

the welfare system

We don't have a 'welfare system'. We have a National Health Service. Poland has a Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia.

He's finally been released from jail and deported.

He must have not had a good attorney.

We don't have a 'welfare system'.

Of course you do but pretend what you want to.
I understand
Now get back on topic before you get a weeks suspension that is way overdue for you.

Boris Becker?

Of course you do

The NHS is not 'welfare'. Did you think it was?

The NHS is not 'welfare'.

Only for those who have never paid into it.
Meanwhile I found some interesting news concerning Slaves in Europe.
April 6 (UPI) -- Britain's King Charles III has for the first time indicated support for researching the British royal family's financial interests and historic links to slavery and the slave trade. Buckingham Palace issued a statement to The Guardian after it published the document showing the transfer of $1,242 of shares in the Royal African slave-trading company to William.

Oh My My !

Which William? Who does Jim mean?

And no, the NHS, as he's been told yet fails to grasp, isn't 'welfare'. It is universal healthcare.

the British royal family's financial interests and historic links to slavery and the slave trade.

Either grow up, get some education or grab a brain!
When did Britain abolish slavery?
When did America abolish slavery?
When you are educated enough to answer those questions, please come back to us.
But not before......

, please come back to us.

Who is "us".
You are not one of us.

Meanwhile, Data from Eurostat, the EU's statistical agency showed that growth in the 20 countries using the single currency stood at 0.1% in the first three months of 2023.

That is escaping a Recession by a whisker.

Please, do not forget that this 20 countries are an economical monster, much bigger than the US or China alone.

Please, don't forget that the U.S. dollar trumps all of the E.U. Euro's put together.

Alien

But not in Europe.

When did America abolish slavery?

Typical JR Jim.....just avoids difficult questions by not answering them.
Just like a slimy lying politician.

Or like Trump with his 30,573 untruths during his presidency alone!

Please, do not forget that this 20 countries are an economical monster, much bigger than the US or China alone.

I'll take that bet.
And I prefer to be paid in U.S. dollars as I can spend those in Europe or the U.S.
Unfortunately, you can't spend Euro's in the U.S.

Alien
29 Apr 2023  #2294

, you can't spend Euro's in the U.S.

Nowadays you can pay with a plastic money and no, you can not pay in dollars in Europe, you have to change them.

mafketis
29 Apr 2023  #2295

you can not pay in dollars in Europe

You can in Turkey (not sure if that counts as 'Europe' though... and probably other tourist areas in the south where they'll do a quick calculation and the transaction won't go on the books....

But in normal stores or in other countries they do have to be exchanged (or you can use a bank machine to get local currency).

U.S. dollars as I can spend those in Europe

Are you dumb enough to think that dollars are a universal currency or something? Hmm, I wonder what all those currency exchange offices are for.........

Maybe you should try actually setting foot in Europe with your dollars and see how far you get......lol

Get one of your expensive charts out JR and compare the EUR to the USD for the last 6 months - it has strengthened considerably (so has the zloty BTW), and my strong performing euro stocks are one of several reasons why my stocks are outperforming yours by a large distance.

johnny reb

Gees, did I touch a nerve or what ? lol
The original debate was:

Please, do not forget that this 20 countries are an economical monster, much bigger than the US or China alone.

That was what Alien and I were debating.
I called him out and said, B.S.

and my strong performing euro stocks are one of several reasons why my stocks are outperforming yours by a large distance.

And that is exactly what my opening statement said about inflation.
As you have been told several times now that I have only owned one stock in the last six months (VKTX) yet you insist on boasting how well you are doing in the market.

My one stock beat all of yours put together by far.
Meanwhile back to my statement that started all your rants and boasting.

Meanwhile, Data from Eurostat, the EU's statistical agency showed that growth in the 20 countries using the single currency stood at 0.1% in the first three months of 2023.

So see cms, while your stocks have done well, they really have done nothing spectacular.
And again, my point was that the E.U. had no growth in the first three months (0.1%) of this year.
If you want to debate that then fine but nobody is interested in our personal stock investing.

hat the E.U. had no growth in the first three months (0.1%) of this year.

Not the EU, the euro area. They're two different things. Btw it's up 1.3% in both zones compared with the first quarter of 2022.

Unfortunately, you can't spend Euro's in the U.S.

You are correct. When you use your US credit card here in the EU they always ask if you want to pay by US$ or the PLN or the Euro(depending which country you are in),but when I use my Polish credit card in the US its automatically charged in US $ no questions asked.

johnny reb

compared with the first quarter of 2022.

About the time the Covid restrictions started to be lifted.
Makes sense.
And the first three months of this year growth in the 20 countries in the E.U. that use the Euro using the single currency stood at 0.1% in the first three months of 2023.

That is escaping a Recession by a whisker.

mafketis
29 Apr 2023  #2302

they always ask if you want to pay by

It's very common in Europe when using a non-local card for them to ask what currency you want to carry out the transaction in (usually not $ but in local currency, home currency or Euro).

Irish Lads fight off migrant gang.

Please make my day and tell me they killed the migrants.

Fighting off sounds like chasing away an annoying fly that's going to be back in ten seconds or sooner.

New Irish laws against free speech. Anyone with "hateful" memes on their cell phone goes to jail

twitter.com/FreeSpeechIre/status/1651278472671535105

It's impressive how libtardized the Irish have become, I feel like supporting the Protestant Unionists in Northern Ireland, their parties are at least marginally more conservative on social issues

And these morons still believe that they live in a democracy because they can pick party apparatchiks who will throw them in jail for a bad joke...hahahahahahaha...Un-fu*king-believable...

Crnogorac3

Ireland is about to pass one of the most radical hate speech bills yet. Merely possessing "hateful" material on your devices is enough to face prison time.

Not only that, but the burden of proof is shifted to the accused, who is expected to prove they didn't intend to use the material to "spread hate".

This clause is so radical that even the Trotskyist People Before Profit opposed it as a flagrant violation of civil liberties. Dark times.

t.me/geopoliticalblog/6703

The text of the law foresees serious punishments for anyone who has "materials that can spread hatred" but is GUILTY UNTIL PROVED TO BE INNOCENT.

Ireland is going the way of 1984. Literally.

A book like The Nature of Human Intelligence 2018, Sternberg et al, Cambridge University Press

They can put you in jail because it contains a compilation of articles by the most influential scientists in the field of human intelligence research, and everyone who touches on the subject, except Flynn, agrees that the differences between human races are real, significant, and genetic.

But if you have that, a book that is a university textbook, you can go to prison because 'it can spread hatred'.

you can go to prison because 'it can spread hatred'.

The USSR and now North Korea are looking a lot more acceptable and less insane.

Hey, Irish boys and girls, you wanna to justify THAT?

Crnogorac3

You know nothing at all about Ireland.

If you're crazy, at least you aren't blind.

Crnogorac3

Otherwise, this is an overreaction of the regime to the sudden jump in racial violence on the streets of Ireland that broke out in the last six months.

One of the reasons why they consider themselves 'guilty until proven innocent' is because it mysteriously happens that centers for immigrants, which are systematically placed in rural homogenous communities, usually end up either burning down or exploding, and no one knows how it happens.
