My opinion:
If the president was a weak slave of Bruxelles like Komorowski, probably poland would receive a amount of immigrants equivalent to Kutno. Remembering that the bulk of those immigrants come from countries dominated by Islamist Radical factions that have the declared purpose of infiltrate in Europe, like Al Shabab (somalia) or Boko Haram (Nigeria and Chad).

But Duda is a strong man. He will not accept silly demands from Bruxelles that can endanger his own people.

Fortunately now Poland have a good president and a good man that can avoid the worst for the country.

Agreeing to these demands from EU is a political suicide.

It isn't America where the President is chief executive - the President of Poland does not decide.
One issue is that if Poland wants to continue to be the largest net recipient of EU funds, they can't be too picky about the rest.

I see nothing wrong with Poland accepting her share of Syrian refugees. It isn't as if other countries have never accepted refugees from Poland.

I am familiar with Syria taking on a large number of Armenian refugees (at least half a million, some claim as much as 1 million, and they later integrated into society incredibly well) as well as Kurdish, Turkmen, Circassian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi, Albanian, Croatian, Bosnian (Balkans in general) and even some Cypriots...

But I wasn't aware of Polish "refugees" in Syria. A small number of Poles ended up there towards the later stages of WW2 usually together with French or British groups. Some ended up in Syria via Iran and said they have escaped from Soviet labor camps. Yet another small number resettled in Syria after WW2, usually academic types, orientalists or those married to Syrian spouses. In general up to the 80s and 90s the opinion of the average Syrian of Poles was very high as a result of this specific diaspora.

Completely serious. Tens of thousands passed through Syria. Thousands stayed. Thousands more in Lebanon.

Except there wasn't any Syria at that time Harry but a French colony governed by the British. Anyway,it seems that it is time to leave EU.Poland is not UK or France and we don't want any immigrants from Africa.Besides,there is already enough problems in PL even without them.I believe Polish people will say "no" to those leeches.Poland needs to show Brussels middle finger on this.No pasaran!

No, at the time the bulk of the Polish refugees went through there Syria was a League of Nations mandate assigned to the French for administration. After the fall of France the Vichy regime ordered most Poles, such as the Carpathian Brigade, to leave. In 1941 the area was taken over by British and Free French forces.

The fact remains that Poles sought and found shelter as refugees in Syria; now it's time for Poland to repay the nation's debt.

These people should be sent back to their departure point and not allowed to land in Europe. The majority are economic migrants, who, through word of mouth and the internet, believe that they will reach their Eldorado, money, jobs and a place to live will be provided, with free healthcare and education.

The reality is that only a few can be accommodated and the general public throughout Europe, are losing patience with their weak leaders who are not reacting quickly enough to stem the flow. It has been estimated that if current trends continue, we could be looking at 500,000 next year and 1 million a year thereafter. Most of these refugees, are single, young men. Do you not see a potential problem with this? If the EU accepts 60.000, what message will that send to the millions that still want to risk the journey.

At that time, the Arab League and sirian arabs were totally against the Polish refugees (which were mostly Ashkenazi).

During the 1947 and 1968 Arab Wars most poles were kicked out by the Arabs.

Levi what on earth are you talking about? If you have a source please let us know the source. There were no "Arab" wars in 47 and 68. There were Arab-Israeli wars in 48, 67 and 73.

I just refuse to call thm Arab-Israeli was because they were pure agression of all arab countries against Israel, which, God knows how, could resist when all arab countries united to destroy them.

After they being defeated, as a revenge, Hafez Al Assad expelled all Ashkenazi Poles from Syria (and Lebanon, which was, at that time, under syrian occupation).

So no lenartowicz, Abramowicz or etc exists anymore in Syria.

Lots of countries have accepted a total of millions of Poles over the years, usually when Poland wasn't doing so well politically, but there have also been millions of Poles who went to other countries for economic reasons: it's time for Poland to pay that debt off.

DEBT? Do Poles went to other countries to live in Welfare and suck money from government? NO!

Poles went overseas to work, to build, to contribute with another countries. They had LEGAL status. They build entire nations or states as the entire south of Brazil, Michigan or Parts of Australia.

If there was any debt, the progress that those countries made due to Poles already paid it.

It is absurd compare Poles that developed countries overseas with Sudanese or Somalian refugees that have no skills to help Polish society nowadays and will live using taxpayer money.

By the way, you, a great defender of gay rights, what do you think would happen if those 160 000 Somalians, Sudanese, etc (Salafi Muslims at majority) were allocated in a district and then a Gay Parade like the one that you praised passed through this district? I mean, do you know what happens with gays in Somalia or Sudan, right?

The Poles gave their sweat, blood and tears, spilled in far away countries that they build in the last century. That worth more than any money.

My country included. Our greatest president, Kubiczek, was a Pole.

@Levi: EU has studied each member country's situation before deciding how many refugees per country. Why should other countries, some of them smaller and poorer than Poland should get refugees whereas Poland should be free to decide? Poland is no.1 reciepient of EU funds and therefore should feel a moral debt towards the EU. Should the EU stop paying Poland, Poland would collapse so Poland shall do as being told. Poland is too weak to dictate its will.

Is it fair that Italy and Greece, because closest countries to African coast; bear the biggest burden? Is it also fair that Germany, France and England have to accept the biggest numbers of refugees? IF EU let refugees to Europe, all EU members should share the burden. Poland is not "more equal" than the others ;)

Poland will do as it is told. It can't export its unemployed, argue that it should receive benefit payments from other EU countries and be the biggest financial gainer from the EU yet want to stay little Poland with it's little Polanders.

If the EU foolishly decide to give these economic migrants refugee and a better life. Poland like other EU countries will accept them, place them, and give them what they require.

Keep dreamig people, Poland will not accept any illegal immigrants and it was clearly stated by our governmant. Same was declared by Czech Rep, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain, UK. France is also in opposition, aswell as few other EU states. European Comission in order to force Poland to accept illegals needs unanimous acceptation from European Counil and it won't get it because plenty of countries, including Poland will say ,,no".


Just like Greece and Italy didn't give a sh... when we needed support in our policy toward Russia. This 2 countries for their own selfish interest were first in line to sabotage every significant Polish initiative. I also hardly believe any of them would help us if Poland was flooded by tens of thousands Ukrainian refugees.

@Brahmin; The Ukrainians who are in Poland don't get any handout from Poland, they simply work and are on their own. My cleaning lady is among them. They are "accepted" to work as "gastarbeiter" and no more.

But they could be counted against "Poland's share", so there would be no need discussing bringing to Poland immigrants from Africa.
