A very nasty act. Serbs suffered immensely during the war, including being victims of genocide. Their resistance was comparable to Poland's, and to leave them out of WW2 commemorations is just nasty and uncalled for.

Ironically, Serbians of Yugoslavia entered in hostility with Third reich exactly because of solidarity with Poland. Those were prevailing feelings among Serbians. At the same time, ultra Nazi clerical Catholic Croats came to power in parts of back then Yugoslavia, welcomed Hitler`s army, then formed ustashe (aka local banderists) attacked local Serbs, committed genocide on them.

To go even deeper with irony, Serbian St. Sava Orthodox (ie loyal in heart also to Svetovid) Chetnik freedom fighters defended Catholic Poles from onslaught by banderists in Ukraine (remember commander Draza that operated around Lwow), while extreme Croat Catholics organized by Austrians, Italians and Vatican, committed genocide on Serbs.

Go even deeper ironic and see how today`s Poland regime ignoring Serbs, while welcoming extreme Nazi Croat representatives that again in this last Civil War again committed genocide on Serbs, continued where they were stooped in WWII.

Add to it that exactly thanks to Serbian resistance modern Polish state got its independence. Serbian resistance to Austrian (and Turkish) occupation, while at the same time, no matter truly in desperate situation, having deal with Poles, Serbs refused Russian dictate within Slavic world.

Do you now understand why Adam Mizkiewich relied solely on Serbians. Loved only Serbians. To Serbians justice is justice, no matter religious differences among Slavs. Serbians chose to serve only to Slavia and for that they are passionately and wildly hated by Vatican, Islamic league and western Europe. I remember when Jugoslav wars were going on most Polish people didn't really care one way or another, of those that did (middle aged and over at the time) there was a bit more sympathy for Serbs vis a vis Croats (who ruled one of the most vicious and violent fascist regimes of WWII) and strong disapproval of Serb actions in Bosnia. But again most people didn't really care...

That's strange then because it had happened to them just 50 years previously. Maybe people get immune to it? Or is that Poles are so insular that they can't see what is in front of their faces?

I remember I was working at the university, and no lecturers were discussing the war, or organising any solidarity with their Balkan colleagues. Maybe it was that the three factions were thought of as bad as each other, when we know that is clearly wrong, and it was the Yugoslav army, ergo the Serbs, who were the aggressors at Vukovar and other centres who kicked it all off.

And all the time NATO sat by and did next to nothing, until after Srebenice. And we had promised ourselves that genocide would never be allowed to happen again on the European continent.
