Now it's time for the men's team.

First semifinals will be between USA and Italy.
Second semifinals will be between Japan and either Brazil or Poland.

Let's take the cold beer out of the fridge and enjoy the game :)

Just have to say, no matter what the result will be, this match is AMAZING!

And sadly, it doesn't look good :(

What's sad about it? That a better team is winning?
I was rooting for the US team when they came to Poland in the sixties to compete in track and field na stadionie dziesieciolecia.

What is wrong with Poland under PiS` rule that the second coach of the Polish national soccer team is deserting to another country while his contract is still valid??? Two desertions within one single year. Can you imagine?? Why do such crazy things happen in Poland instead of other countries???

Thank you, PiS.

I would guess it has somethingto do with the fact that footballers seem to be unable to improve. Things seem to go well and then we have a huge crush.

Things seem to go well and then we have a huge crush.

That is a good description of Poland under PiS. E.g, people get huge benefits for years and all of a sudden everything crashes.
Sport is also a victim of the horrible atmosphere created by PiS.

And when was the good atmosphere for football? I can't remember...

Bronze in VNL goes to Japan. In half an hour it's USA vs Poland for gold. I'm sorry to say but I would bet for USA getting it. Won't stop me cheering for Poland though.

No foreign coach ever resigned in mid contract in the history of the Polish football. While during PiS rule, two did. My theory is: PiS made a laughingstock of Poland so coaches aren`t afraid of any serious consequences - deserting such a clown country isn`t a shame for them, quite the contrary.

Thank you, PiS, for making us international clowns, also in the soccer world.

1st set Poland!!!

Can I change my bet 😉

Can't be worse than what the players are doing.

Lenka

2-1 Poland . Last set USA just got crushed. Either team can still win of course.

Oh shut up finally. Seriously, I don't know any other person that likes so much to suck out the happiness out of everything.

And for the point- believe me, they will get much more money then they would for a small piece of gold.

While during PiS rule, two did.

I am sorry, the rumour about the second coach deserting the team under PIS gov rule has proved sort of premature. Or even false. I apologise.

Another interesting case is that Russians are furious at Poles for banning the entry to Poland for one Russian female tennis player. They call us the worst names.

A Russian official commented:

- If I were her, I wouldn't go to Poland, it's dangerous there, there are madmen. I'm not talking about the population, but I'm talking about the many politicians who are destroying Soviet military graves, who are falling into some strange psychosis and are now trying to regain part of Ukraine, part of Belarus. Especially since they don't hide it.

In everything related to Russia, there is a high probability of provocation, and here is a defenseless girl. I wouldn't risk it if I were her. I went, okay, they didn't let me in - it's okay, we'll be fine. Nothing terrible happened to Vera Zvonareva. Let's wish her sporting victories, we are proud of her - said Slutsky, quoted by TASS.

A Russian woman from Belgrade headed to Poland - the police denied her entry

vz

From the BBC:

"Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva was blocked from entering Poland on Friday "for reasons of state security and public safety". The former world number two, 38, was on the list of players set to compete at the Warsaw Open, starting on Monday. But Poland's interior ministry said she is also on a list of people considered "undesirable" in the country."

Should Poland be punished or fined for such obvious discrimination?

Poland controls her own borders. And the Polish government are not answerable to some corrupt tennis authorities.

This lady can stay in Serbia or some other puppet state of Udmurtia and play tennis for worthless rubels or dinar

set to compete at the Warsaw Open

Has Trzaskowski commented on this? It's on his turf...

cms neuf
27 Jul 2023  #897

The borders and Warsaw airport are controlled by the MSWiA - not by Warsaw municipality. And they have decided that Udmurtians are a security threat - I don't think this lady has denounced the rapes and thefts in Ukraine so she is not welcome here

BTW what is that trophy she is holding ? It looks like the kind of crappy cheap vase that Udmurtian pensioners used to set out on tablecloths in metro stations in the early 90s when they were trying to scrape together a few rubels to buy some sprats and rock hard bread.

Won't be long before those scenes are repeated BTW - another winter of sanctions will not be fun

obvious discrimination

What kind of discrimination, did German athletes also perform abroad during World War II?

Lyzko
27 Jul 2023  #900

Of course not, since they were mostly fighting in the war effort.
