Ukraine Crisis... Poland... and the way i see it

Harry
2 Sep 2014  #2191

Good old Barney, using events which happened generations ago to try and excuse the crimes of his hero in the Kremlin.
I wonder why he doesn't mention the NATO nation whose military junta overthrew the democratically elected government of the European country he talks about to replace them with a dictator or about the anti-Turkish pogrom which preceded Turkey's intervention. Perhaps in his next post Barney could draw a line showing exactly where he stands on leaving out inconvenient bits of history and perhaps about his lies about neo-Nazis controlling ministries of the present Ukrainian government?

Apparently, a chap by the name of Putin wanted to join NATO in 2000. Yes, one couldn't make it up:

ignoring current borders and partitioning countries

Barney, would you like to go into detail about NATO supposedly ignoring current borders and partitioning countries? Or is this just another of the whoppers you tell to try to make your hero in the Kremlin look like less of a scumbag? You know what I mean, lies like your ceaseless claims about neo-nazis controlling key govt ministries in Ukraine and so on.

Well he has all the right policies ignoring current borders

Are you in agreement, though, that he is doing things he shouldn't be doing? It sounds as if you are. Why is he doing them? Because it seems that there are Nazis on both sides, so what's his dog in this race (to borrow the term from someone else who posts on this forum) ? Because try as I might to not think the worst, it seems as if he has gone off piste big time.

You are very simply lying: the source is RIA Novosti. Your precious Serbian media is simply reporting claim made by Kremlin media.

RIA but transferred to public via Serbian media. Serbian media are kind of filter in that example. Comprendo, Harry?

You really do know bugger all about Poles, don't you.

i know.

Resolution in sight?

Russia And Ukraine 'Largely Agree' On Crisis

Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko largely agree on a way to end the conflict in Ukraine, according to the Interfax news agency.

The heads of state discussed steps required for a ceasefire and their views "overlap to a considerable degree" Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.

Resolution in sight?

Kremlin now backing off ceasefire talk, claiming that they can't agree to a ceasefire because they aren't involved.

Russian news agency RIA quoted Dmitry Peskov, Putin's press secretary, as saying: "Putin and Poroshenko really discussed the steps that would contribute to a ceasefire between the militia and the Ukrainian forces. Russia cannot physically agree to a ceasefire because it is not a party to the conflict."

Of course, how silly of me!

Kremlin now backing off ceasefire talk

I dunno if it's sigh of relief time but wires are saying "ceasefire agreed", here's Sky's.

Not much more than little comfort for the families of those who have already perished, I know.

Some backtracking now

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko says he has agreed with Russian President Putin by phone on a "ceasefire process" for the east.

His office initially reported that a "permanent ceasefire" had been agreed but later revised its statement.

As Harry said:

The Kremlin stressed Mr Putin had not agreed to a ceasefire as Russia was not party to the conflict.

Who believes what Putin says anymore? He is a sadistic fascist who has no word, no honor and not even basic intelligence to be a human, because the number of deaths and destruction that his policy of terror and invasion has already led to is beyond barbarism. Another lie from Kremlin's low life.

In other news, the head of the illegal government which the invading forces have imposed on the Ukrainian peninsular of Crimea has proved that he's a homophobic bigot and that basic human rights have no place in Russian-occupied Crimea:

Ukraine: Crimea Chief - Police and Army Will Tell Gays 'What Type of Sexual Orientation They Must Stick To'
Crimean PM Sergei Aksyonov says the LGBT community isn't welcome in the Russia-annexed peninsula
Prime minister Sergei Aksyonov has declared Crimea is only for straight people(Reuters)
The leader of Crimea has made it clear that the region will follow Russia's lead regarding sexual equality and freedom, saying that gay people will be "educated" on which sexual orientation is better for them by the police and military.
Sergei Aksyonov, the prime minister of the Black Sea peninsula annexed by Russia in March, told a local government session in Simferopol that members of the LGBT community are not welcome in the region.
"We in Crimea do not need such people, and they will never hold their events publicly," Aksyonov said, Interfax news agency reported.
"The police and self-defence [forces] will react quickly and explain within three minutes the orientation one should hold to."

Video suggesting Russian presence in Ukraine

And here is a video showing a full Russian mechanised unit in Ukraine:

Is this the smoking gun the world has been waiting for? A video recording made by a trolleybus passenger shows a huge column of Russian tanks, fuel trucks and troops deep inside Ukraine, giving some of the strongest hard evidence yet that the Russian army launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

For nearly three minutes, the trolleybus passes at least 13 Russian battle tanks, 42 Russian infantry fighting vehicles, 6 Russian armoured personnel carriers, 31 Russian troop carrying trucks, and some 15 Russian fuel trucks. It appears a full mechanized unit of Russia's armed forces can be seen in the video.

Most probably our resident pro-Kremlin bigots will try to distract people's attention from this proof that Russia has invaded yet more of Ukraine by ranting about Nazi Junta or about the ministries of the Ukrainian government which they claim are controlled by neo-nazis.

Russian social group created on FaceBook known as "Cargo-200 from Ukraine to Russia" collects information about the killed Russian soldiers in Ukraine. Russian activist Elena Vasilieva, which heads the group, informed on Radio Svoboda that only in August over 2000 dead Russian soldiers were brought back from Ukraine. It gives the idea of how many of the Russian troops are present in the eastern region of Ukraine.

More than 2,000 Russian military were killed in couple of days of August

"Judging by the fact that people report, it appears that, of course, more than 2,000 soldiers were killed in August," - said Vasilyeva.
"On the day of the invasion, in the first day, about 700 Russian soldiers were killed one hundred percent. And in the next few days accrue more about 1,5 thousand," - said Vasilyeva.

At the same time, according to Vasilyeva,killed Russian soldiers relatives were intimidated not to tell about the fate of their loved ones

U.S. boots on the ground in Ukraine.
Preparations are now under way to go ahead with exercises near Ukraines western border for a joint military exercise this month (September 16 thru the 26th) with more than 1,000 troops from the United States and its allies.

It's a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine.
The annual exercise is to take place in the Yavoriv training center near Ukraine's border with Poland.
Does anyone know how many Polish troops will be involved to show their support ?

Nathan
4 Sep 2014  #2209

I have read that Poland will be presented by 35 soldiers from 25th air troops brigade. This international military exercise occurs every year on Ukraine's Yavoriv military grounds and is called Rapid Trident. This year there will be soldiers from 15 countries. US will have 200 troops.

Having a go at answering the subject question...

- There wouldn't have been any turmoil in the Ukraine, had there not been Russian support with human resources (girkin, bezler and others who are as fortune would have it ALL happen to be Russian citizens), weaponry, troops;

- Putin had planned to play the banderevci card in Eastern Regions of the Ukraine as a diversion from the Crimea thing - fail (short term success)

- Putin wanted to bust his approval rating by making the Russians rallying around a national leader against the dummy external enemy - success (long term fail)

The bottom line of the story is that the Russians having wandered for almost quarter of a century got back to the starting point being too immature to adopt the basics of the democracy. Russia in its present borders will unlikely have another chance to develop in that direction. I would rather render the whole thing as Russian cultural crisis or even a catastrophe than that of Ukraine which to its misfortune happened to find itself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Mariupol is that the city that the neo nazi Azov battalion shot unarmed civilians several months ago when they occupied that city?
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azov_Battalion

I see Poroshenko admitting that others were supplying Ukraine with precision weapons despite NATO denials and the NATO Secretary General, one of the guys who lied about Iraq and WMDs when he was Danish PM is upset about the possibility of peace breaking out.

I wonder if any of these weapons were used to murder civilians that until recently was under reported in the English speaking world?

Nathan

No, Mariupol is the Ukrainian city, where:

On the eastern edge of Mariupol, a port on Ukraine's Sea of Azov coast with a population of 400,000,locals armed with shovels were blunt about why they were digging trenches: the Russians, they said, were coming.

I agree that Mariupol is a Ukrainian City and should remain a Ukrainian City. My point was that the shooting of unarmed civilians by the neo nazi Azov battalion, a battalion given legitimacy by the regime in Kiev, was a bad thing.

Nazis tend to do bad things.

Harry

His own words show that he is. For example:
he said that the Ukrainian Interior Minister, Arsen Avakov, founded the Ukrainian Nazi Party;
he said that the current acting president of Ukraine stood in the 2010 presidential elections and got 1% of the vote;
he said that special police units were sent to Odessa in response to the deaths there before the deaths happened;
he said that the secretary of an advisory state body to the president of Ukraine is able to control the composition of the National Guard of Ukraine;

he said that the secretary of an advisory state body to the president of Ukraine is in direct control of the security services, which are actually under the control of the Interior Minister; and

he said that Neo-nazis are in control of the Armed Forces, National Security, Economy, Justice and Education ministries.
