Euro 2008 took place in Austria and Switzerland. The BBC never claimed that coffins have come back from the previous Euro. While i agree that Sol Campbell may have exaggerated, the treat of racist incidents was very present. I have lived in Donetsk for over 3 years. I moved there because of football. I spend three years travelling Ukrainian football extensively and know very well that the scene in Ukraine has quite a significant fascist element. That OUN / UPA was filled with jews is incorrect. OUN / UPA was very active in anti-jewish activities, killing jews who managed to escape or hide from German captivity and historians have argued that OUN / UPA was very well involved in the Lviv Progroms that took place in July 1941. However, there were some jews in the ranks of UPA but only for as long as they were useful for example as medical personnel.

To claim that UPA was "filled with jews" is a misleading statement, in my opinion, even intentionally misleading.

I was involved in some business projects in the Ukraine lately and I feel somewhat discouraged about how things are going there at present. It seems worrisome that Ukraine is still far from being part of civilized world far as development of business there is concerned. There's widespread corruption in the top power echelon and unhealthy meddling of politicians into business.

There's some smart successful businessman Dmitry Firtash and he perhaps controls really substantial part of the Ukrainian economy at present. Firtash is a billionaire and key investor into energy and chemical sectors of the Ukrainian economy. And I got the impression that acting Ukrainian prime-minister Yatsenyuk somewhat dislikes the fact and does his best to undermine positions of Firtash. Now he's trying to force Firtash into converting 8 bln grivnas into American dollars at the most uncomfortable rate of 25 grivnas for a dollar. If Firtash agrees to this robbery, his losses will be as much as 2 bln grivnas! They say, many issues are settled in Ukraine via briberies.....
