No, it wasn't. But it is one of the questions many people have about NATO. NATO was founded as an counter alliance to the Eastern bloc at the begin of the cold war. Since then the political landscape of Europe and the world has changed dramatically....

So, I'm not sure how to answer your question. I personally are grateful for the past existence of NATO. But I'm not sure about it's future. Especially not with a president Trump on it's helm.

The other one goes like this:

Exactly that. China already called his bluff today in reaction to the USA attempting to sanction them, and we shouldn't forget how China plays the long game. The rise in the US stock market is partially due to companies such as Apple, and if they suddenly find that they can't export or get things built in China, well... there goes the American Dream, again.

As we can see the purpose of NATO was to keep Germany on its knees, the Russians out and the Americans in charge.

Europe only has a small ceremonial role within the organisation as the NATO Supreme Commander is always an American candidate.

That is because America is NATO.

America isn't just nato on its own but obviously the biggest member. That is no surprise seeing the squabbles of the Europeans since day dot. A lot of those armies can only be quantified when you choose an opponent. They all do add up and do pose resistance to potential attackers. The level of resistance would really depend on the enemy. In Polands case only the usa will do as the others are too weak to pose little more than a slowing down of enemy. Poland needs a more definitive deterrent which it can only get from the yanks.

Last time (yesterday) when Trump mentioned Slavs, he spoke of Poles and Serbs.

He said how Germany needs to follow example of Poland and said how are Serbs good people.

Yup, China "called the bluff" and bought Military ordinance from Russia which violates sanctions against Russia.
In short China told Trump to f-off calling what turned out not to be a bluff at all.
They should know better by now that if you take a poke at Trump he is only going to hit back harder.
So in retaliation to China's "bluff calling" Trump just o.k.'d selling Twain U.S. F-16 fighter jets that put the Chicoms right up through the roof.

Guess it wasn't a bluff after all now was it.
