I fully agree with making things easier for families and kids. In Germany there is alot of support lacking. To often to have children means also to have a higher risk for poverty. Especially single moms who can't work because of their little ones.

But that rewards and medals should help with that.... I dunno.

For someone with no political experience he sure has made most of them with political experience look very bad.

- holding loads of functions at his hotel
- refusing to release his tax returns

Can you point to some concrete ways in which the swamp has been drained ? Campaign finance reform ? Ethics committees ? Controlling lobbyists ? Ensuring a strong judiciary ?

Wishful thinking. We may see that this is an illusion, or some people had already seen it before that. Not a long time ago, I read a very informative interview with a totally neutral expert with the Central Statistical Office in Poland who talked about the problem through hard statistical and scientific data. He wasn't completely pessimistic about the outcome of the 500+ programme, but he also said that it does not go in the direction of the government intention of increasing the number of births. What is also worth noting is that if the programme really did, you would have heard all that noisy governmental propaganda telling people about it, whereas in fact the propaganda is silent about that. The expert said that the programme was at least several years late to be effective because too many young people had in the meantime moved to the (so-called "rotten") West and it is there and not in Poland where many of them have babies.

One clear result of the 500+ programme was reducing poverty in Poland. I also do not think that Orban will achieve some extraordinary results in Hungary with those "sensible alternatives to Frau Merkel" of his.
