Is it that unworthy ?

Maybe due to russian hackers, secretly embedding harmful common sense microcode into externally innocently looking posts? ;)

Actually you are a breath of fresh air here Velund.
Very informative with much common sense.
We Americans know very little about common folks views and their life styles in Russia.
Great that you share with us.

Steel production and coal mining are dirty, outdated industries

Coal mining may eventually become one, but how are you going to build sky-scrapers without using steel?

johnny reb
24 May 2019  #484

You buy the steel from third world countries that pollute the jet stream making it instead of you and find someplace to bury the spend fuel rods from a nuclear energy plants, that have to be changed ever so often, and have a 100,000 year life expectancy to contaminate where ever.

Problem solved.

Velund

and find someplace to bury the spend fuel rods from a nuclear energy plants

Yes, of course. If you will look closely what was done at a last days of Poroshenko "regin" in Ukraine, you will be surprised how fast things related by new radioactive waste storage facility advanced, and how many things was "secured"... Scale of facility is many times more than will be ever needed by Ukrainian nuclear plants.

100,000 year life expectancy

De-facto not all is so easy. There is two major problems with spent rods - highly active short-living isotopes that cause horrible activity of irradiated rods for a first tens of years, and a minor actinides, that is useless for current level of technology and present ecological danger for millenias.

If just a fraction of funds that was spent for useless dotations to a "green energy" producers would be spent to advancing nuclear fuel reprocessing, we would already have some sort of tech to get rid of long living radioactive waste (like separate burning reactors or "burning zones" in regular energy producing reactors). Or made some space storage system on Sun orbit that is out of ecliptic plane, to have access to this "waste" if after 500 years scientists will discover that some of currently useless actinides is a ready fuel for interstellar ship. ;)

that is useless for current level of technology and present ecological danger for millenias.

But Millennials want it new and they want it now as it is all about them.
Look at all the money a few are making on electric cars that only cost penny's a day to re-charge and so ever clean to operate.

Ask these "Greenies" if they would like those spent fuel rods used to make the electricity to charge their electric cars to be buried in their back yard to contaminate it for the next thousand years.

Your buddy here would suggest to pay some third world country to take them to store in their back yard and ship them there.

Millennials want all and at once, no doubt. But there is few notes...

- Penny's a day to operate is for the first mouses that enter the trap. ;) Cheap night rates is because of excess of nuclear generation at night time (nuclear plants MUST run at constant power level - even if there is nothing to do with energy). Once there is a lot of electric cars owners and demand at night time will increase - prices will rise.

- If there is NO nuclear plants in the system - electric cars will use energy from gas or coal plants (don't tell me that there will be enough "green" generation in a cloudy days without much wind to assure recharging everyones's cars). And it will be worse by pollution and carbon emissions, than good combustion engines.

So, there is little chances to get rid of nuclear generation. And (volens nolens) we have to work with spent fuel.

Russia is heading to "closed" Nuclear Fuel Cycle - some modern types of assemblies is already 100% reprocessed. And I heard about idea of offering full fuel life cycle contracts - from supplying fresh rods to taking away and reprocessing spent ones.

but how are you going to build sky-scrapers without using steel?

You do it like Trump did for his Las Vegas hotel: buy the steel from China.

It's not about abandoning steel altogether, it's about shifting certain industries to developing countries while concentrating on high tech in the west. Heck, you can even sell these developing countries your filter technology, so steel production becomes less polluting. Wage levels in the developing world are so low that the west will never be able to compete. Unless you are willing to accept massive price increases because you want steel production in your own country, that is.

Ask these "Greenies"

You continue to drive your horse buggy while the rest of the world flies to Mars. LOL!

Velund

Wage levels in the developing world are so low

And I read by mouth - "... and should remain at same level FOREVER"...

It will be interesting to see how steel for replacement ships to replace ones sinked in South China Sea by Chinese navy will be ordered in China. ;) It is almost as funny as visit from Google to Huawei with offer to move some gadgets manufacture to their production lines. ;)

You continue to drive your horse buggy

Why try to fix something that ain't broke and that is working great.

Velund
25 May 2019  #492

Thing that working great for too long is obsolete, as chosen people need their interest from upgrade process. ;)

johnny reb
25 May 2019  #493

So you are saying we should send people like Otherly to mars to make them happy ?

Velund
25 May 2019  #494

We live in a very interesting times. Sensations every other day. US politicians made everything to start hear chorus from the following song regularily and in all possible languages. ;)

and should remain at same level FOREVER"..

No, not at all. That's the whole idea behind a global supply chain. Outsource low tech to developing countries and lift them out of poverty. Once they are, they start manufacturing more sophisticated products while the industrialized world moves on to produce high tech items. Unfortunately, there are always some countries which don't like if their position is being challenged by a new competitor...

Why try to fix something that ain't broke and that is working great.

You mean, like stone axes and clubs?

Velund
26 May 2019  #496

Do you mean "lift them out of poverty right to unpayable debts"? ;)

26 May 2019  #497

You continue to drive your horse buggy while the rest of the world flies to Mars. LOL!

You have been predicting impending doom and gloom ever since Trumps candidacy, yet nothing has happened, except a booming Trump economy!!

And a list of accomplishments that NO Other Prez could ever achieve:)

Now, the walls are beginning to close in on the Dumbocrats and you still gobble up all the fake CNN news, hook line and sinker!

We will see who laughs come 2020

johnny reb

And a list of accomplishments that NO Other Prez could ever achieve:)

And that is a fact.
I would happy to post them all too but the anti-Trump biased Mod would say that it was a copy and paste. lol
See the problem with Kangaroo Boy is that he is a lefty.
Lefty's refuse to accept defeat.
They still think Crooked Hillary won.
They want a do over on the 2016 election.
They want a do over on the fake Russia Collusion.
They just can't accept the fact that they have lost fair and square.
They have meltdown after meltdown and now are at a total loss with no direction.
And they still don't get that their way hasn't worked so well for them.

We will see who laughs come 2020

Careful Joker, they just let two more million illegal voters in our country since 2016 for their side.
That now gives the Dems a total of about 17 Million more votes ( Illegal's) then they should have.
But as Crooked Hillary would say, "What difference does that make now."

Yes I suppose so - you can vote them out in October if you feel so strongly. Fine you might pay a few hundred z of real estate taxes but that isnt really cause to get upset.

on, there are Americans who claims that ALL are Welcome. Hell lots of them. So...

GRANDPA,SO* why was Trump elected?

Velund
26 May 2019  #503

Perhaps because dems were so passionate about the game of omnipotence in their virtual reality, so they began to frighten voters who were not getting the drugs that are fashionable in Washington and most large university campuses.

TheOther

yet nothing has happened, except a booming Trump economy!!

LOL!

Highest trade deficit ever. Highest budget deficit ever. No wall and Mexico hasn't paid for it. North Korea - no deal. Trade wars with China, Canada, Mexico and the EU. Imposing tariffs as a hidden tax on Americans. Almost 30 billion socialist bailout for the farmers (what about all the other sectors that suffer under the trade war?). No shiny new healthcare system. Shall I continue? And what did you get for taking it constantly from behind? A massive tax cut for the rich and a military budget that's out of control. SAD!

By the way, does Congress already finished complete list of decrees, allowed for President, or still discussing, should it be 4 or 5 pages long?
