USA News and Poland - Part 2

UK and Poland already meet this target.

The UK only met the target because they included pensions in the calculation, as far as I know.

it's not enough

How much is enough? None of the European members have any ambitions to become a superpower like the US.

The UK only met the target because they included pensions

Really? How do pensions fit in with a defence budget?
And if you are just talking about military pensions, I don't see how that would make that much difference.

How much is enough?

2% of GDP.

I don't see how that would make that much difference.

Military pensions made all the difference.

defense-aerospace.com/articles-view/release/3/190814/nato-2-spending-targets-includes-military-pensions%3A-secgen.html

"Britain currently only just reaches the NATO target - with a total spend of GDP on defence topping 2.1% - but critics have claimed this figure is inflated by items such as pensions."

2% of GDP.

By 2024. If anyone wants to pay their 2% (or more) in 2019 already ... their decision.

Military pensions made all the difference.

How much of that 2.1% was pensions?

By 2024. If anyone wants to pay their 2% by 2019 ... their decision

And they should meet that target or expect the US to pull out.
That would focus minds......

TheOther

How much of that 2.1% was pensions?

Sorry, I don't know. I've seen several articles already that the U.K. and Greece both manipulated their numbers to meet the 2% target.

they should meet that target or expect the US to pull out.

In 2024: fair enough. I believe that quite a few European countries wouldn't be too upset if the Americans close their bases and go home.

Miloslaw

Sorry, I don't know.

Yeah, well that is not good enough.
If it is your opinion, fair enough.
But if you don't know, then don't post it as a fact.

I believe that quite a few European countries wouldn't be too upset if the Americans close their bases and go home

That may well be true, but they must then realise that they now need to take responsibility for their own defence.
I think that would be a good thing for both Americans and Europeans.

that is not good enough

I gave you a proper link. That's not enough?

that would be a good thing for both Americans and Europeans.

Agreed.

Here are a few more links:

researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/CBP-8175#fullreport

"In recent years when reporting defence expenditure to NATO the UK has included several items of expenditure which had not been included previously: in 2015/16 there was the addition of war pensions (£820m),contributions to UN Peacekeeping Missions (£400m), pensions for retired civilian MOD personnel (£200m) and MOD income (£1,400m)"

Oh I do.
Trump just pulled out of Syria which in my opinion was a huge mistake.
Trump thinks he can bully Turkey with sanctions to stop them from invading Syria.
Only this time Turkey has some trump cards (pun intended) to play themselves by giving Trump the middle finger.
Turkey has some negotiating weapons of their own.
First Turkey threatens to "open the doors" and send 3.6 million migrants to Europe while under increased international criticism for the rapidly rising civilian death toll in Syria.

Trump must have forgot that he moved nukes into Turkey for safe keepings.
The New York Times reports the following bombshell Monday: some 50 US tactical nukes are "now essentially Erdogan's hostages".

Ouch!

Did nobody tell Trump this?

Nothing that is printed in the New York Times is believable, its another propaganda arm of the Dem/msm

When Obama announce troop withdrawal they praised him as a great President. When Trump brings troop home, its called abandoning our friends.

It seems NYT is to Trumpists like Gazeta Wyborcza in Poland to PiSsmen.

Trump moved the U.S. troops from Syria to Iraq.
I wonder if Trump will move the 50 U.S. nukes from Turkey to Poland for safe keeping.
Maybe Poland already has enough of them.
How many does Poland claim to have ?
Trump stored them originally in Turkey so they would be closer to Ukraine.
The number of US nuclear bombs currently stored in Europe under NATO auspices is estimated at between 160 and 240, of which 50 to 90 are stored in Turkey.

No American nuclear weapons were stored in Britain and France, though they are members of NATO, because both countries have their own nuclear arsenals.
Which other countries in the E.U. are the other between 100 and 200 nukes stored ?????

Miloslaw
21 Oct 2019  #1453

None.
Only Britain and France have nukes.

TheOther
21 Oct 2019  #1454

Not true. There are nukes in other European countries, too. Protected by American forces.

There are tons of nukes on German soil, too

They are not German nukes.
That is important.

TheOther
21 Oct 2019  #1456

Yes, but JR asked in which other countries nukes are stored.

Miloslaw
21 Oct 2019  #1457

Where they are stored is irrelevent, except from a tactical point of view.
Who controls them is what matters.

johnny reb
21 Oct 2019  #1458

That's the spooky part.
Iran wants them, N. Korea wants then and now Turkey wants them.

Crooked Hillary is now in full push to get Trump impeached.
She knows she can't beat him in a general election and that she would be a three time loser.
However "if" Trump gets impeached he will not be able to run in 2020 and you can bet your sweet ass that Crooked Hillary's hat would come flying into the ring again. lol

Even the Dems are worrying about such a threat to our country. Hoot !

TheOther
22 Oct 2019  #1460

Who controls them is what matters.

True. Most European nations though could easily manufacture nuclear weapons themselves. At the moment they refrain from doing so voluntarily. If the Americans decide to leave NATO and close their bases on the continent, that attitude towards nukes will change. Before you know it you'll have a whole bunch of new nuclear powers in Europe. Germany and Italy first would be my guess, Poland next if they can afford it.

Speaking of NATO, by the way: did you see the British numbers I posted above in #1448?

Bratwurst Boy
22 Oct 2019  #1461

Germany and Italy first would be my guess,

I really don't see Germany investing in nukes! France and Britain have them, that's more than enough in our vicinity....Poland with nukes will raise brows here, after all there is Russia to keep in mind too, which won't react happily to these news...

But Germany? Never!

Crooked Hillary is now in full push to get Trump impeached.

Have you seen Crooked Hillary lashing out at all the other Dems calling them Russian Agents now? PLEASE GO AWAY ALREADY!

Even attacked Tulsi Gabbard, she's in the Army reserves for christ sake. Crooked Hillary has gone off the rails!

Let them try and Impeach. It will never pass through the Senate and is only hurting the Dems, bc its total BS!

TheOther

Probably not building their own, but joining forces with France. Why reinvent the wheel when your neighbor already owns a bunch of giant fire crackers?

Bratwurst Boy
22 Oct 2019  #1464

Exactly!

And the French will never give up their nukes and would fear a Germany with their own...so...it would be a deal which would fit us both! :)

22 Oct 2019  #1465

Speaking of NATO, by the way: did you see the British numbers I posted above in #1448?

I did.
But quite frankly, the first link was too boring to read.
The second one, from The Telegraph, said that it was a NATO directive and could not be used to compare with previous budgets.
And the last one was from the left wing BBC!
Sorry, but I did not see any of those as conclusive evidence to suggest that the UK were not achieving NATO spending targets.

Democrats' 2020 race has a new shadow: Hillary Clinton
I'm tellin' ya, don't count the rag out.

Trump is the only one that stands in her way.

TheOther

Yup, and that was the one from your own government admitting to creative accounting... :)
Anyway, doesn't matter much anyway since Trump will probably abandon both NATO and UN should he be reelected.
