When I was growing up in the sixties and seventies, everyone loved America and Americans.
When I met Americans travelling across Europe they were so friendly.perhaps a little too friendly.
But I think the perception of America started to change after the Vietnam war and the slow removal of American troops from Europe after WW2.

As a kid I saw graffiti saying "Yanks Out!" .
And the European perception of America and Americans has gone downhill ever since.
Most Europeans don't generalise, and they know it is not all Americans that they dislike.
In fact, it is not so much Americans but more America that they dislike.
The fact that so many Americans feel the same way about their country just backs that up.
America has huge problems.

I am not talking about anthropology seminars but everyday English.
So as long as in everyday English I am "white", they are simply "black", with a lowercase "b".
