The court's decision today hinged on whether or not the government can legally compel someone to create speech that is against his/her will. In this case, a web designer refused to create a wedding website for two homosexuals because she does not support same-sex marriage based on her religious beliefs. The State of Colorado said she must produce it because it violated a state anti-discrimination law. So, it's about freedom of speech. Whether or not a banquet hall or caterer would be protected from not renting out a hall or cater a homo wedding that didn't compel the hall or caterer to promote homosexuality may not be protected by this ruling.
