When some a-hole tells you that he fought for your freedom always ask: Freedom to do what?
On a rainy afternoon in Chicago, an old man who was an immigrant from Poland was handing out pamphlets on "Freedom to do what "
I politely declined to take one.
There was an elderly woman behind me, and the old 80 something male protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined.
The old protester gently put his hand on the old woman's shoulder and in a patronizing voice said,
"The next time some a-hole tells you that he fought for freedom", always ask "Freedom to do what ?"
The old woman looked up at him and said:
"Buddy, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea, and a son in Vietnam.
All three died so a naïve, privileged, ignorant, self-centered ass hole ex-pat like you would have the right to stand here and badmouth our country.
If you touch me again, I'll shove this umbrella up your ass and open it."
