Today, at my weekly Current Events meeting, one of the subjects was patriotism vs nationalism. The definition I offered was that a nationalist's first duty is to protect his country just as mine is to protect my family. That's why we are armed and erect fences not to let those who would do us harm in.

This didn't go well with one of the a-holes. He looked straight at me and asked: Would you die for the United States? - expecting a long hmm... or at least awkward silence.

My answer was immediate: When Russia or China invades the US I will do everything I can to repel the invasion. No, I will not die for the United States in Iraq.

The silence in that room was so delicious...

At the same meeting, somebody said the we need to spend all those billions on our military just in case Chins decides to invade the US.
