USA News and Poland - part 14

But will the EU actually make it so standards for goods entering the EU from the US are the same as products produced in the EU?

Can you give an example of where the standards are different?

And no, your Dacia is not an example unless you tell us what EU standards it doesn't meet that Chevy does

Dacia meets the EU standards.

Why would we let our standards be set by a bunch of whack jobs in Washington ? It's bad enough having them set in Brussels but at least we have some say in that.

And yes Folding Cow is an idiot with very poor judgment on financial matters.

He will back down on China next week, unless he wants another argument with the market - already the dollar and US bonds falling again.

But will the EU actually make it so standards for goods entering the EU from the US are the same as products produced in the EU?

Aren't those standards the same for everyone though? How are they different? I keep asking you and other Trumpists about this, but none of you managed to answer so far.

You realise that Japanese and South Korean cars have to meet the same EU standards as American cars, right?

For example, the most popular car brand in Poland in April 2023 was Japanese:

auto-swiat.pl/wiadomosci/aktualnosci/japonska-marka-zdominowala-polski-rynek-jej-pozycja-w-rankingach-sprzedazy-imponuje/6pczkzh

1. Toyota: 5875 cars
2. Skoda: 4292
3. Volkswagen: 3025
4. Kia: 2752
5. Audi: 2073
6. Hyundai: 1900
7. BMW: 1769
8. Mercedes: 1610
9. Dacia: 1488
10. Renault: 1246

Dacia is cheap not only in price but quality. Chevy, inexpensive but much higher quality.

I've checked the prices and the catalogue price of a new Dacia Logan is 57 900 PLN (Essential) and 61 400 PLN (Comfort). In Poland for a used Chevrolet Spark (the smallest car in the Chevy lineup) from 2021 you have to pay 89 000 PLN. And Dacia Logan looks much, much better as far as the design is concerned (Spark's design looks old to me) ;)

Also, Chevrolet Spark was discontinued.

And here you have a Polish review of Dacia Logan:

"A sensible sedan - Dacia Logan TCe 100:"

fleet.com.pl/wiadomosci/sensowny-sedan-dacia-logan-tce-100

A quote:

"Romanian sedan is still unrivaled in terms of relation of price to what we're getting for that price."

Photo comparison of a new Dacia Logan and a used Chevy Spark:

@Lenka
I dont have a Dacia, I rode in one from Uber. Absolute junk.

@Paulina
One difference is that EU focuses on crash avoidance systems while the US cars focus on crash survival systems. Anyone getting into a small US car compared to a Dacia as I did will notice an immediate difference in quality. Do a crash survivability test on a Dacia compared to any comperable US car and see what you get.

You realise that Japanese and South Korean cars have to meet the same EU standards as American cars, right?

You do realize that Japanese car companies are making cars in Europe to European standards, not in Japan in most cases? Like Jeep is made in Italy for the European market, and it is not even close to the same Jeep model made in the US.

Funny though, how so many again want to bash the US for its approach on tariffs when its working and everyone is back negotiating. So why 10% on US cars to Europe and 2.5% on European cars to US?

Lenka

While those are two different approaches it's hard to compare. In test Chevy does have about 10% higher scores for the passengers but that is offset by pedestrian safety score..

And that again doesn't say that Dacia doesn't meet the standards and is available why Chevy does and is not available.

So can you please give us an example of that?

how so many again want to bash the US for its approach

Because they behave like an irrational bully.

How can you tell just by taking one ride that Dacia is an "absolute junk"?
People are buying this "junk", so it's clearly good enough for that price. 🤷

@Paulina
One difference is that EU focuses on crash avoidance systems while the US cars focus on crash survival systems.

So? What does it have to do with anything? Don't American cars have crash avoidance systems or what?

You do realize that Japanese car companies are making cars in Europe to European standards, not in Japan in most cases?

Then why are American car companies not making cars in Europe to European standards, like the Japanese are? 🤔

So why 10% on US cars to Europe and 2.5% on European cars to US?

I personally have no problem with increasing the US tariff for EU cars to 10% - seems fair to me. We're talking about meeting the EU standards right now though and you claim that those standards are different for American cars and different for EU cars. So how are they different?

Funny though, how so many again want to bash the US for its approach on tariffs

Pointing out that almost everything said about unfair trading practices is in fact nonsense is not bashing the US. Trade rounds involve negotiating many things and has been repeatedly pointed out the difference is tariffs between the US and the EU was about 0.5%. That is not looting, plundering or anything even close to that. The attempt to label VAT as a tariff has been blown out of the water. Complaining that European standards are too high or constantly change is not a problem for any other company.

Its very easy, to export to the EU just meet EU standards.

why are American car companies not making cars in Europe to European standards

They are and there is no problem. Trump wants water to flow uphill.

It is times like this when we can only grateful that the EU exists, since it vastly amplifies the negotiating power of its' individual countries

Oh, we are so grateful that German negotiation power has been vastly amplified thanks to countries like Poland. Now Berlin can get what it wants more efficiently, and Poland should express its gratitude for Berlin's success.

One more time...

Trading is not about "fairness". It's about sustainability and, therefore, deficits. Period.

Deficits are not sustainable. Even exchange is.

Carrots for apples is sustainable. Carrots for dollars is not.

Also, there is no such thing as "service economy" since service does not create wealth. It only moves wealth from Pocket A to Pocket B. See casinos, barbers, comedy clubs...

It's about sustainability and, therefore, deficits. Period.

You are thinking in 19th century terms. That's a bit outdated approach even at your age.

Again: the US is able to create money out of thin air in form of digital impulses--what we used to call printing money; these days it doesn't even have to be physically printed, and the money is still valuable because the resulting inflation is "spread" all over the globe as American Dollar is the world's main reserve currency, all oil transactions are done in dollars etc. Of course, you can't do it ad infinitum but you are still far away from the point when it's impossible. So for those virtual digital impulses you can buy real German cars, real Colombian coffee, real Italian wine and real French cheese. Yes, it creates so-called trade deficits with Germany, Colombia, Italy and France but why should you care? You get real stuff for dollars that you can print! Isn't this system wonderful? If instead of being deliriously happy with it (as you should) you choose to be a retard and impose tariffs on everyone, then it only drives the prices up for American consumers (who will soon have to pay, for example, $4000 for a silly iPhone made in China because of the new tariffs). You managed - with military might and diplomatic intrigue - to impose a system of immense economic violence on the entire world. Now, you want to throw it all away. :) 5D chess hahahaha

People who were legally admitted to the US under Joe Biden's administration but have since had their temporary status revoked would be added to the Social Security Administration's "death master list", according to Reuters.

Without a Social Security number it is very difficult to get access to a current account or credit card.

Social Security numbers function as tax identification numbers in the US and are required to receive government benefits.

Critics of the plan say it would "debank" lawfully-admitted immigrants.

Now they are lawfully being asked to get the fvck out...Just as I ask my dinner guests to leave or I will call cops...so take you toothbrush and tampons and go...

I have this brilliant idea how to make them leave...

Any illegal scum caught by date X will end up in Black Dolphin for life.

We would have to pay Russia but it still would be worth it. Practically, they would all be gone way ahead of X. Zero cost.

The same technique can be applied to DC fed parasites...Move their department to Prudhoe Bay.

Don't worry about that. You can print endless forsa and inflate the debt away, no problems.

...and destroy the country...or at least turn the US into Zimbabwe 2.0...

Seriously...Is every Polack here a moron?

BTW, US presidents can't print money. So the question still stands...

What should Trump do to fix that 36-3-1 problem since you, Euroholes, don't like his tariffs?

Fund managers quietly fear Trump doesn't have a tariff plan and that he 'might be insane'

Some fund managers concerned 'that the White House is not acting rationally, but rather on ideology. And some even fear that this may not even be ideology'

Torq

What should Trump do to fix that 36-3-1 problem since you, Euroholes, don't like his tariffs?

He should pay some talented writer to write a speech for him. Then he should deliver this speech to Americans. In this poignant speech he should say that they have been living way above their means for decades and now it's time for tightening the belt, saving, working hard and consuming much less - "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" and all that.

Then Americans, touched deeply by their president's honest message, would start working harder for less while being content with little things in life and eventually the debt would be paid off in full. Simple as that.

you, Euroholes, don't like his tariffs?

Americans shouldn't like his tariffs because they will only drive the prices up for them.

'might be insane' (...) is not acting rationally (...) some even fear that this may not even be ideology

No, no - that's 5D chess, you see. 6D even.

Then Americans

Your problem is I guess the typical issue of Polish education or some cultural trait. You deem it proper to tell people from other countries how to live their lives and what decisions their politicians should make.
I mean if you are such a genius why don't you solve Poland's issues first? There are many.
As to the US and those tariffs, don't worry about it.
These people are not as dumb as you think they are and they are perfectly aware of the reality.
IF they decide it doesn't work for them, you are not going to change their mind, after all, there was a major difference in opinion about some economic, political, and moral issues before and they have had a civil war over it all.
You can go with the flow as they say or if you don't like it - roll with the punches.
Positioning Poland in the best way to lessen the negative impact and increase the positive impact of the changing world.

That was a good one, Iron.

Then Americans, touched deeply by their president's honest message

One way to end a discussion is to act like a clown. See pawian. Now, you...

Americans shouldn't like his tariffs

But Europeans, Chinese, and Canadians should love theirs? Are we now back to:

EU tariffs - good

US tariffs - bad?

Americans don't like paying taxes, visiting dentists, and getting off of addictive drugs and habits. Like getting cheap goods made by foreigners at 2 bucks an hour and never worry what happened to other Americans who used to work at those abandoned factories in Akron, Ohio, Flint. Michigan, and a hundred other such places.

My best advice to you is to STFU and, as Iron just said, solve Poland's issues first. There is a war going on next door.

Novichok asked me what I would do as their president, so I told him. In general, I don't really care that much - if they want to commit economic and political suicide, they can knock themselves out.

My best advice to you is to STFU

Hey arsehole, you asked me a question so I answered it.

As for commenting on various issues - that's what I will do whenever I want because that's what internet boards are for.
