2016 Presidential Elections in the US

If I don't they have the right to steal my money out of my pocket ?

I hope that Trump will abandon Medicare and replace it with a system of coupons - just for fun to see your stupid ass getting turned away by every greedy doctor and healthcare provider in the country...

Figure you're a fan of that Bundy guy out West

Bleeding obvious, isn't it? :)

43% are for Obamacare, 42% are against it. So at whose request will Trump dismantle the Affordable Care Act?

What do you expect from this Democratic News media.
Opinion still is sharply divided by party, with 70 percents of Democrats viewing the law favorably and 75 percent of Republicans viewing it unfavorably. Independents fall in the middle; 42 percent like it and 46 percent don't.
So at whose request will Trump dismantle the Affordable Care Act ? I would have to say the 75% of the Informed Republicans.

As I'm sure everyone probably knows by now, Trump didn't win Iowa :-)

As I'm sure everyone probably knows by now, Trump didn't win Iowa :-)

And worse still, Rubio is at his heels. Trump will lose badly in the South, so he really needed a convincing win in Iowa. His speech last night was pretty clear - he knows he can't win now.

Smart money has to be on Trump dropping out completely after Super Tuesday. He'll stick around for the inevitable win in New Hampshire, he'll most likely come third in South Carolina and simply won't get the numbers on Super Tuesday to show that he can win it. The Republicans know Cruz can't win it, and the Trump voters will see Rubio as acceptable.

The Republicans know Cruz can't win it

Didn't you hear? He had God on his side.
Trump's face. What a picture! You can now get 10/1 against Trump becoming POTUS.

delphiandomine
2 Feb 2016  #246

He's well and truly out of it. Cruz voters aren't going to go to Trump, and Rubio did well enough that he's now clearly the acceptable compromise candidate.

Wonder if Johnny will still be calling him President Trump this morning? :D

johnny reb
2 Feb 2016  #247

(I will not be voting for him myself in my States primary.)

I have made it very clear delph.
I like what President Trump stands for however I just can't picture him sitting down at a table with a bunch of world leaders. Yikes !
Rubio did well enough that he's now clearly the acceptable compromise candidate.

Cruz would have a better chance then Rubio to win it all. Cruz is a National Debate Champ and will tear Hillary or Sanders up.
Like I stated days ago though...................
I am still undecided and am leaning towards Rubio myself.

I took a twenty question quiz on the net and then it gave you the results of who it matched you up with best for president.
It said that I agreed with Rubio's policies the most and favored him. He is very intelligent and a good Christian man with morals.
Very young guy out of Florida.
It is not over until the fat lady sings and I have seen just about everything in the elections over the years.
In this one you have a Hillary who is guilty of committing numerous felonies (more than you can count on two hands) and still allowed to run for president of the country AND the worst part is that the Low Information voters are STILL voting for her, a felon !
Hey Roger, who are the Bookies giving the best odds to win it all ?

Roger5
2 Feb 2016  #248

Best UK odds today:
Clinton 10/11
Rubio 3/1
Trump 8/1 (in from 10/1 this morning)
Sanders 10/1
Cruz 20/1 (though some go 12s)

Winning party:
Dems 4/6
GOP 11/8

Dem candidate:
Clinton 1/5
Sanders 4/1
The rest are rags.

GOP candidate:
Rubio 5/6
Trump 3/1
Cruz 11/2

Clinton's odds for POTUS represent very good value. If I were still a gambler, I'd steam in.

Here's a funny comment on a story in the Washington Post.

i don't pretend to know how people think but I can tell you that the handful of Trump supporters I know don't vote. It's one thing to sit around with your hand down the front of your pants drinking a cold one and hollerin' at Fox and it's another thing altogether to stand in the snow to tick a little box. It's just not worth bothering with.

The Trumpster hasn't said a word on Twitter for nearly 16 hours. What does it mean?

I would have to say the 75% of the Informed Republicans.

Are those the ones who insisted there are death panels? There are some major flaws in Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act, but to reject something for political reasons that actually makes sense and is to your own advantage is simply stupid in my eyes. But let's see what happens. I expect the many, many poor and ultra conservative Republicans from the South to be whining very soon (provided that the next president is a Republican, of course) because they can't get health insurance anymore, and then they will cry for help from the fat cats and corrupt politicians in D.C. (that they pretend to despise) as they always do. Trump, Cruz and Rubio are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I expect the many, many poor and ultra conservative Republicans from the South to be whining very soon (provided that the next president is a Republican, of course) because they can't get health insurance anymore,

They don't get it now, the poor Progressives are all on welfare (Free Government Medicaid, Medicare Disability) or just refuse to pay their hospital bill which the hospitals are forced to write off silly.
They aren't on Obama Care.
That costs money out of your pocket that could be used on your cable t.v., high speed internet, a new flat screen, a new tat or your cellie bro.
It's not the poor Progressives in just the South, it is the Progressives nation wide that whine non stop that the working people are not paying enough taxes to support them as they pay none.
(The word "Progressive" is less cringe worthy than saying "LIBERAL".)

Problem with hard-core Reps and Tea Partiers is that, as with the Bundy clan, their philosophy hasn't kept up with changing times. Furthermore, it might well be based upon a misconception of what our Founding Fathers originally conceived as the true role of government! In essence then, Johnny boy, your attitude is anti- not to mention UN-American!!

Roger5
2 Feb 2016  #253

It seems that most pundits are agreed on the results of the Iowa caucus. The guy who came first came second, the guy who came second came third, and the guy who came third won.

delphiandomine
2 Feb 2016  #254

This is exactly why American presidential races are so damned interesting :D

It seems to be pretty much a given that Rubio will attract some of the Hispanic vote, especially in Florida - and the GOP is desperately in need of some of those voters. Trump can't beat Cruz in a straight fight, but for many outside of the Bible Belt, Cruz is completely unacceptable. Therefore, Republicans north of the Mason-Dixon line will go to Rubio to ensure that Cruz is defeated - as Cruz is the worst option for them.

More to the point, neither Cruz nor Trump can beat Clinton/Sanders, but Rubio can use the Obama effect to his advantage, especially if he's up against the much older Clinton or Sanders and picks an elder running mate with a huge amount of experience.

I'm calling it now - if Rubio wins the nomination, he wins the Presidency.

Roger5
2 Feb 2016  #255

Could the GOP kingmakers ever stomach Cruz, let alone ordinary northern Republicans? I think you're right. Rubio will get it by every hook and by every crook. But I can't see Clinton blowing it. Her team is too professional and focused. And I don't think she's about to have her collar felt any time soon, either. She knows where too many bodies are buried. Anyone who says politics is a dirty business is a hopeless optimist. Much as I have Clinton fatigue, I can't see her not winning at this point. In my dreams Bernie sits in the big chair, but I'm afraid that's where he's going to stay, in my dreams.
Trump's undoing is going to be his campaign. He has underspent and his team is inexperienced. Oh, yes, and he's a vainglorious jackass that Americans have more sense than to elect.

Capitalism = The means of production in private hands for profit

Actually private ownership has little to do with capitalism and with a way capitalism works nowadays. I would put it as - bankers i.e. financial system have an upper hand and after Bretton Woods agreement they are ruling and ruining everything.
The means of production in private hands do not indicate capitalism.

Roger you do amaze me sometimes and this is one of them.
I would have to agree almost 100% with you.
You are very astute in your perspective of what's going on in American politics and why.
What is your opinion of Johnny Walker Black scotch if I may ask ?

Roger5
2 Feb 2016  #258

I don't drink scotch or any other hard liquor, Johnny. Someone gave me bottle of scotch about a year ago. It's in the house somewhere. And a couple of weeks ago I helped someone out and they forced a bottle of pepper vodka on me, which is also destined to gather dust. So all I know about JW black is that it's a superior blend of grain whiskies. When I drank scotch I preferred single malts. I'm going to Dublin soon and I plan to treat myself to a fancy dinner, before which I intend to have a couple of Manhattans, a drink I haven't tasted in ten years.
The US elections have always fascinated me. It's the greatest show on earth.

Actually private ownership has little to do with capitalism and with a way capitalism works nowadays.

Apple is a privately owned company, most banks are privately owned, the vast majority of large corporations that you use everyday in order to live your life are private companies.....set up to profit from you. This is what "privately owned means of production" means. The shops where you buy your food, the systems in place to harvest the food, the energy companies...all privately owned corporations.

Theres also substantial evidence that national banks, yes, The Federal Reserve and The Bank of England etc etc are also in the hands of private individuals who profit from us.

In my dreams Bernie sits in the big chair

I'm not really into American politics, even for the presidency, but he would be who I would want to win, and that's based purely on his background.
Not a chance he's going to get it though.

johnny reb
3 Feb 2016  #261

And I don't think she's about to have her collar felt any time soon, either.

That's the only part I disagree with you on. Time will tell.
They literally had to flip a coin today to decide the winner.
Hillary called it SIX TIMES IN A ROW !
The odds of that happening is 64:1
New Hampshire next and it will be a landslide with Bernie winning.
Our presidency is not by popular vote but on electoral votes.
Cruz received eight in Iowa and Rubio received seven so really a long way to go yet.
Oh and Lyzko.......you said that Rubio was to young to be president......he is the same age as Cruz.
Hillary is 70 I think and has blown everything she has touched.
I will move to Poland to live if she wins.

delphiandomine

They literally had to flip a coin today to decide the winner.

Must admit, that was one of the most fascinating things in electoral history for me. I understand it - it's because the Democrats have a very strange electoral system in Iowa, but still, fascinating.

I will move to Poland to live if she wins.

Her against Rubio will be a hell of a fight. I don't see Sanders staying the course - the southern Democrats will go with Clinton, though he'll put up a hell of a fight. But Clinton is just too well funded and too well organised for him to make an impact among non-white voters.

johnny reb
3 Feb 2016  #263

I don't see Sanders staying the course

I do.
Clinton is just too well funded

Actually Clinton has spent a whole lot already and she is running out of campaign money.
Besides the F.B.I. wants her in prison.
The ONLY things standing in the way of her being prosecuted is Obama and the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
Those two people are holding up the whole show and guess why. lol
Why do you think Hillary has been praising Obama and saying that she will carry on where he leaves off.
The F.B.I. has given Lynch MORE THAN ENOUGH evidence to have her indicted.
The investigative committee appointed to determine if the top secret e-mails were top secret or not have been denied seeing them because they now have been re classified even higher then top secret. lol
Each one of those classified top secret e-mails that Hillary (Secretary of State) sent on her private server constituted a FELONY because they jeopardized National Security.
Every country in the world has them now so how can they any longer be top secret ?
You or I would be in prison already if we would have done that.
This is bigger than Water Gate, much bigger. She is up to her neck in lies.
The question is, "why would anyone want someone that DUMB, DISHONEST and LIAR as our Commander and Chief ?"

Because she might be considered the lesser evil by many? Keep in mind that the Latino vote becomes more and more important, and both Cruz and Trump won't stand a chance there. Maybe Rubio, dunno.

Lyzko
3 Feb 2016  #265

Now that Trump's out of the picture for a while, thank heaven, the race can finally focus again on issues, not personalities:-) I don't care for Cruz myself, but at least the guy had some substance, even if tainted substance:-)

Why wouldn't Cruz as he is Hispanic and comes from Cuban descent just like Rubio.
Even an Aussie should know that.
Now that Trump's out of the picture for a while

Naw, President Trump said Cruz cheated and now wants a re vote in Iowa.

Why wouldn't Cruz

Rubio's from Florida, and from what I can see, Rubio would be the only GOP candidate with a chance of winning the Latino vote in Florida. They're going to go with the Democrat challenger if the Republican one is Cruz or Trump.

TheOther

Maybe in Florida, but most likely not in many other states. This Washington Post headline says it all: "He's Cuban. I'm Mexican."

'Course Trump's gonna cry foul, Johnny boy!!! If you think that sort'll just fade into the background, think again. Nah, he'll contest the whole business, probably right up through election night in 11/16:-)

He's still cooked and he knows it! Hillary still has a fightin' chance at pulling off a victory if she doesn't do something dumb like talking too highfalutin to Jane 'n Joe six-pack out thereLOL
