He evidently thought that Podgorica is a town in Poland. :-/

You don't go to a funeral to wish the dead empty vessel off but to console the family for their loss.
At that point the grieving is over.
Then afterwards celebrate the death joyously with family and friends with food and drinks.

the funeral marks the end of one stage of grieving... for many it also marks the beginning of a second, more muted but longer phase. Grief and mourning are a long narrow path that has to be traveled one step at a time.


In theory the meal after the funeral is a symbolic return to normal life (and usually the departed is not really discussed ime).

Rememberance of the departed is to celebrate their life and what they gave to others' lives - not the death.
