That's a decent point. But, the question is whether or not a foreign entity should be given the authority to intervene in the internal governance of a sovereign nation.

As I recall, the EU fined Poland for its judicial reforms. One can argue whether or not those reforms are constitutional, legal, or not; but that argument is a Polish argument, not an argument to be coerced by a supranational entity.

So, methinks I'm comparing apples with apples and oranges with oranges.
