Most of the people on the Warsaw ones are middle-class families from Żoliborz. The wholemeal bread, bicycle and green tea crowd. If you chucked a brick into it, it would most likely hit a vegan whose aunty has a doctorate in the history of Patagonian nose flutes..

The overwhelming majority of people that they're supposed to be about are either busy at work or pretend to be straight or don't want to be seen by colleagues or neighbours they dislike, or anyone from their village. That or they just aren't bothered for marches. I go because I don't give a damn what people say, because there are people who always go on it that I know and don't see often and because I feel I ought to.

The Warsaw one sometimes clashes with the Mironalia Festival (celebrating the playwright Miron Białoszewski that I like to go to because I like his plays and know the lady who organises it.

Good after-parties though (the parade more than the festival)

That would be PiS, who continued to side with him until the Russian invasion. But yeah, several German politicians (not Merkel though after 2015) continued to defend him way past the point this was justifiable. All the more reason to not repeat this mistake again.


We had this conversation many times over. It is impossible for the German government to handpick their judges, they need approval from the opposition and depending on the composition of the Bundesrat the Opposition even gets to pick their choices. While PiS wants to select all the judges with no oversight from the opposition. That is not only a problem for the rule of law, but will most likely undermine the reputation and authority of the Court in Polish society.

I went to one out of curiosity. It was not anything special, boring really compared what some of you are imaging. Then again, I find parades not particulary interesting anyway. I dont begrudge people their parades on Carneval, even though it is way more intrusive if you happen to live in e.g. Cologne. But if some people enjoy it, so be it.

It makes no difference to me what happened, but I take it you were there that night in Warsaw at the restaurant, to say with conference, that it was "obviously a lie"? Again, what has this got to do with a rogue member disrupting threads on these forums.

Western Europe and even America only has tanks in order to counter the tank threat from Russia. Leopard 2, Challenger 2, Abrams, they have no other reason for existing other than to fight Russian tanks. They should all be sent to Ukraine because there is no reason not to use them to do the only thing were built to do.
