The NYT says that Bob Rogers of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette who worked there as an editorial cartoonist since 1993 has been fired this week for "making fun of Trump". In 1999, Bob Rogers was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Things really changed for me in March, when management decided that my cartoons about the president were "too angry" and said I was "obsessed with Trump." This about a president who has declared the free press one of the greatest threats to our country - says the NYT.

I'm surprised no-one here has commented on this. Bob Rogers was a well-renowned cartoonist who worked for the paper for 25 years. A new Trump- supporting editorial page editor takes over and Rogers is suddenly fired. So much for American ' freedoms'. Say, or in this case, draw, the wrong thing and you're fired. No wonder the usual suspects here have gone silent.

I can also add to your fire. That 3.8% unemployment is total bs, not that it smelled any better under Obama. What really counts is the "Labor Force Participation Rate", which actually went down since he took office. Which makes his victory dance so much stranger. Why people don't work is complex, but if they don't they don't pay taxes.

My biggest disappointment was the military budget going way up. He should have actually cut it and bring all US troops home from Afghanistan and everywhere else.

Let's assume for a moment that illegal immigrants from south of the border are really taking away millions of jobs from Americans, and that we will be able to deport them all. Let's also assume that the tariffs will bring back millions of manufacturing jobs to the USA. Who would fill these open positions when we are already at full employment according to Trump and the GOP?

Tariffs are taxes, and the increase in revenue will be used to cover the deficit that was caused by the tax cuts for the rich. The ones who will pay are the poor and the middle class, while the corporations will use the cash to buy back their stocks and invest in automation.

The whole thing is a scam.
