Just as the Allies bombed the crap out of Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, Israel is now bombing Gaza. As far as food and electricity, the Allies did not provide those to the Japanese and the Germans in the cities I just named. This tells me that what Israel is doing is all within the rules.

Since Gaza is a democracy, the civilians have nobody to blame other than themselves for electing the wrong legal representatives. Now that it is known to them, they should call special elections and remove Hamas as a ruling party or at least write letters to tell how they feel without places to sleep, food, and electricity.

Alternatively, Gazans can kill Hamas and bring this conflict to a quick end.

No, Ireland is a largely Catholic country and liberal (in your eyes, we're really more centrist) and we have always supported Palestine - as shown by Pawian's quote above from Leo Varadkar. We don't support Hamas but we support Palestine and have long condemned Israel's actions in the region. Nonetheless we have good relations with the small Jewish community in Ireland and indeed a couple of Irish-Israeli lives have been lost in this conflict and there is great sympathy for the civilians on both sides.


From an Irish perspective we always see both sides, partly because of our history with Northern Ireland. We try to be peacemakers. That's what we're doing in Lebanon right now.
