I know that socialism isn't communism. I was specifically referring to socialist/communist one party states.

Nonetheless socialism and communism share many of the same theories and principles. There are of course many varieties of socialism as you just described.

Also the type of capitalist multiparty socialism etc type system that Sweden has is often referred to as the Nordic model as Finland Norway Denmark etc have very similar systems to sweden.

See they pay very high taxes but they at least get something out of it. They have free healthcare education great retirement and tons and tons of free programs. Despite spending a lot of money on these programs the budget is balanced and there's little debt. Inflation is in check gdp is chugging along slowly. I truly wish we had a system like that in the us. We have terrible government social programs. Even the va which is supposed to look after America's hero's is a travesty. Our grade and high schools are so far behind to the rest of the world. Yet despite the middle class being taxed to poverty, we get nothing useful for it. The government programs are staffed with incompetent workers, people who approve funding for some project are often corrupt, and the quality of service is garbage. Our programs aren't spent on reinvesting in the society and helping them, ours are spent on cutting checks for welfare section 8 tanf etc to all the people who don't want to work.

Johnny once asked whether I "minded" paying taxes. I answered that I'm only too happy to pay taxes, if I knew that my tax dollars were going to a worthy cause, that is, solid infrastructure, top-flight medical care etc..much as in countries such as Sweden:-)

Exactly I always figured the more tax I payed the more I was earning even at 50% I was doing ok, must admit if it went over 60% I would slow down and not work as hard.

Yeah i wouldn't mind paying 50% if I could see that the money being taken out if its going for good programs that me and society at large benefit from I.e. free education, free healthcare. Yet we can't have that in us because the government simply wastes the money and were left with bogus garbage programs that are super expensive anyway even just for healthcare. I mean Jesus even Thailand has decent free healthcare yet the us can't? Not to mention education, sick leaves, a minimum 'living' wage etc.

I paid 40% which just got raised to 42% literally a week ago and its guaranteed to go up and up and up - if not from income than some other tax. They'vealready tapped out the property taxes and now they're seeking more revenue from other streams.

Perhaps you could explain the difference to us Lyzko.

..because you see also that they're being misspent by our gov't. If you saw them spent on infrastructure such as in much of Scandinavia, you'd gladly pay 'em:-)

A socialist believes in individual property as used for the COMMON good! On the other hand, a communist believes that individual or "private" property is instrinsically wrong, and that the State controls all, as citizens are basically too irresponsible to assume such:-)

Of the two, I'm clearly more on the socialist/capitalist side. I too believe that the harder or at least more cleaverly, one works, the more money they should make. I'm proud of the one-bedroom apt. I was privileged to WORK FOR and am eager about the prospects of one day buying a modest colonial-style white-and red brick house my wife and I've had our eye on for several years. I see nothing sinful in the latter, neither do you, I trustLOL

What I'm dead against is the Reago-Trumpian rapacious capitalism which believes a la Darwin that in fact NOT everyone is entitled to a piece of the American Pie!!!

When will you accept the fact that capitalism is what built the strongest most powerful country in the world.
Capitalism is a very good thing that works well for those who live within their budget.
Lower your standards that fits your budget so you won't be so bitter and sour about people with a bigger budget then you have.

As to the previous sentence about America being the strongest country etc. ad nauseum, many in other countries might not concur. Where would we be without the Ex-Nazis to build up NASA after the War, former Communists to infiltrate our research and development programs, or, most of all, laundered Chinese money etc....

The docs aren't rly all that bad... They're just egged on by kickbacks in the industry esp from big pharma. Doctors are often given perks for prescribing meds and the best ones for speaking at hotel conferences in which they are paid thousands of dollars in consulting fees for speaking positively on a particular med as well as having a nice 5 star weekend gratis. Before it was nearly open bribery now its a lil more regulated.

And the at about seven years old we learn how to make choices which gives us control.

If life were only so simple, Johnny! At least I acknowledge that we all deserve a fightin' chance, even though many make more of what they've been given than others:-) Why penalize those who honestly try, yet don't appear to succeed, at least financially? Being rich, much like being old, is only a figure, when you come right down to it. The fact that I have a nice one-bedroom whereas a good college buddy of mine is still living with a roommate in a precarious arrangement at 50+ scarcely makes me "better" than he is, simply more fortunate. When he recently asked me to float him small loan and offer a job recommendation from my firm, I said "yes" to both in a heartbeat, as I don't consider failure a sign of moral weakness as you do!
