In my wildest dreams would I ever expect to find American patriots among the Russian military intelligence guys. Of course he was mocked - he could hardly string two sentences together, he literally forgot what he had said a few hours before, and he went out of his way to undermine his host who was taking a huge political risk inviting him in the first place.

I know his press conference was obviously aimed at is US market but ranting and stumbling about fake news - lies - the dishonest media - immigration just made people in Europe wonder how on earth anyone could vote for this guy.

Its an old corporate trick, If you are going to have a tough meeting it is always good to fire a few shots over the bows (brinkmanship), it sets the scene, it can put your adversaries on the back foot, and indirectly sets out consequences of non compliance without having to be direct in the meeting itself.

I am no huge Trump fan but he is a very smart guy, don't be fooled when he plays the buffoon from time to time its all in his game plan.

Thing is this is probably the first time international leaders (Who are politicians and have no real material expertise or success behind them) have come across this type of game.

They do not know how to deal with Donalds big boy private equity tactics, don't be fooled he knows all the tricks to get what he wants, he sets the bar high and is then happy to win in the middle ground.

Anyway he seems to have not started any wars or caused any harm, but he has wound a few people up on the international scene that's for sure, maybe that's whats needed at this time.

There are plenty of politicians who have more money than Trump - Babis, Berlusconi, Putin etc and many politicians who came from successful business careers. His stupidity is not an act - he is a senile, bumbling fool with the attention span of a small kid.

And he has caused plenty of damage - it will take America many years to regain the prestige and trust that he loses every day.

The people who protested about Trumps visit were mainly a left wing minority.
Most Brits,whatever they think of Trump,were disgusted that they treated the president fo the USA which such disrespect.
Trump himself said that the US/UK relationship remains very special.

One of the main criticisms they charged him with was his alleged racism.But if you look at the crowds in Trafalger Square,most of them were white.

That is not representative of London's population.Why did so many black and asians not feel the need to protest?

The protests were not that big,but yes,more than applauded Obama because most Brits didn't think much of him.

Yeah,most Brits have pretty centrist political views but as in much of Europe,even in your country,the left are pushing their populations to the right,even the extreme right in some cases

I think Trump's main beef is with The EU,which he quite rightly hates.
His only problem with The UK is that we are not negotiating hard enough with them.

What I have put together is just the huge trade deficit difference between the U.S. and the U.K.
Trump admitted that after spending two days with May that they respect each other much more then before.
The British are an extremely important allie to the United States and Trump knows it.
And don't think May didn't have Trump walking on egg shells by getting a few of her own jabs in.
And like I said in Random Chat, "I was extremely impressed with how civilized the British Press was by taking orderly turns in slamming Trump."

They did their jobs very well.

All world leaders are by nature political opportunists. In the short run especially, Trump is certainly no different. He's excoriating the PM one moment and practically kissing her behind the next.

Only Merkel doesn't seem to engage in such double-dealing, does she. Well after all, she's German.

That is because obama was a Socialist and was no threat to the E.U. and Trump is Constitutionalist.
