After all, you were the first truly nasty troll on PF.

Jim the rapist has chalked up many PF firsts, e.g. first to demonstrate he can't tell blues from country and first to admit to committing rape:

She couldnt say no after I got that second 5th of bourbon in her. And then I got in her too. Hoot !

You would sh!t that faded white gone yellow suit if you ever came to Northern Michigan and jammed with us hillbillies, Harry/Lazarus/Christian.

Here is a sample what you would hear at one of our Hoedowns compared to listening to your British Elton John's rocket man. HOOT !

youtu.be/NzjywHFaTOM?si=KpgXRlhy9e8VXyK8

That is how we jam up here in the back country, Christian ole boy. 🤠
Have you ever been to a jam session, Harry ?
Do you even know what a jam session is ? 🤣

first to demonstrate he can't tell blues from country

He has zero knowledge of music and his feeble attempts have been hilarious.. He just regurgitates what he finds on google/wiki and then pretends like its him saying it.

You must have missed this post then.

there are at least four Blues fanatics on here,

You forgot me. I posted years ago about my love for blues music, especially that of Robert Johnson.

I think you may enjoy this.....Albert Castiglia.

I like him too! I don't know what the first track of his was that you posted in # 357 as it didn't load properly but I loved the others :)

Bring on the rain reminds me of another song but can't think what it is. Thanks for posting them :)

Sorry Feniks, I didn't realise that you were "One of us"! :-)

@johnny reb

I get Rock'nRoll but it was before my time and therefore uninteresting.

I have some slightly more laid back and a bit funky Rock posts tonight. All American.

This thread is all about the music!

I'll end my posts with this one.The recording is a bit crude and the band had not even recorded this song yet.I think they improved this song when they recorded it and maybe even more later.

But as an embryonic song, I still think it's absolutely stunning!

The Frajle / NEVOLJA

Sorry Crow, for me, the above was the only half decent post you made.

Now for some blues:

Robert Johnson - Crossroad

Tommy Johnson - Big Road Blues

@ Joker, I think maybe you would like this next band.

Ghost Hounds - Willie Brown Blues

Ghost Hounds - Last Train To Nowhere

I personally like this version of Willie Brown Blues. Ry Cooder is an absolute legend and he did most of the music on the 'Crossroads' film/album

Ry Cooder - Willie Brown Blues

My favourite Ry Cooder song which I know Milo isn't keen on but I haven't heard it in ages.

Ry Cooder - The Very Thing That Makes Her Rich ( Makes Me Poor)

Some excellent posts from both @Joker and @Feniks!

I'm going to go Country Music now after @Feniks posted a Polish Country Music band to the Polish Music forum.
Some Americans seem to think that this is an exclusively American genre.WRONG!
It is popular in many countries. This duo are called The Shires and are BRITISH.

And I'll end with one of the greatest "Weekend Songs" of all time, but remember, these guys are BRITISH!

I like them even though they are copycats of American country.

Now where have I heard this before........

Now for some blues:

Europe's ears have perked up to the soulful sounds of American jazz and blues.
The continent has been snapping its fingers to the beat, with cities from Paris to Warsaw hosting music festivals.
Europeans are swinging to the rhythm and loving every second of it.
I recorded some really old stuff 50 years ago off a Blues radio station in Detroit that was privately recorded in the deep south in Plantation Jute Joints.

Stuff that was never commercially recorded.
It is now worth a fortune.

So called American music has deep roots in Black, Celtic and strangely Norwegian cultures. The same black culture you continuously denigrate in many other threads.

Black, Celtic and strangely Norwegian

And Jewish, English, German and French.

All derivative.

The same black culture you continuously denigrate

Even well into the 50s it was hard for black song writers to collect royalties.

I like them even though they are copycats of American country.

Of course they are, but it shows that some of us Brits appreciate Country music and a few can actually mimic it really well too!

@Feniks

Nice posts from a fine Canadian band.

True and a long time ago....

True.

True too.

We all know about American racism in the fifties and sixties and some of the southern states were still very redneck in the seventies.

Doncaster's finest...

I wonder how many Yanks realise this was written by Ewan McColl, a Lancashire man as a gift for his young wife.

Just one post from me tonight on this thread.

Doncaster's finest...

I really liked Tony Christie. Great singer with a great voice. I remember him more for 'Avenues and Alleyways'. It was the theme song for 'The Protectors' if I remember rightly.

this was written by Ewan McColl, a Lancashire man as a gift for his young wife.

I have to admit that I thought it was written by Roberta Flack.

I really liked Tony Christie

From just down the road from the Rectory lived in by the father of another Tony. Tony Hatch who had a string of well known hits, some of them TV themes. They're both still alive.

Feniks
30 May 2024  #509

Tony Hatch

I only remember him from that TV show 'New Faces'.
Glad to hear Tony Christie is still alive. I just presumed that he'd died ages ago.

jon357
30 May 2024  #510

I only remember him from that TV show 'New Faces

A bit of a local hero. His dad had a very old fashioned gramophone with a big horn rather than speakers. I remember him setting it up on a table with the French windows open so you could hear it in the rectory garden. That must have been in the early 70s. A very musical family. Tony Hatch lives I think in Tenerife now.

Tony Christie's sadly got dementia now. A really nice guy.
