Music I have never got bored of

I always seem to come back to the old records. Always loved this:

Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin'

@Chemikiem
I think there was some some of cover thanks to which I got to know the original version.
But it's great.
I think I know just two songs by Nancy and the other one is Bang, Bang and I love it.

youtu.be/xSHYlSxQyJM

And something far less classic but I remembered the song recently and there's something cheerful about it (not necessarilly the lyrics )

I'd completely forgotten about that one till you mentioned it! You know an awful lot about British music!

Here's one of Nancy and Frank together:

Frank & Nancy Sinatra ~ Something Stupid

Monday Morning

Is that by Melanie Fiona? Your link said the video's not available and youtube came up with 4 different artists for Monday Morning.

More oldies that I like...........

It's been covered many times but the original is still the best...

Bob and Earl - Harlem Shuffle

youtu.be/-ZbPG5zRd20

Etta James - I'd Rather Go Blind

youtu.be/u9sq3ME0JHQ

Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions

I really don't know much - I'm mostly interested in songs rather than artists but my taste is pretty versatile.
Friends sometimes suggest tracks I should listen to or I hear something in a show and then google it.
Yes, it was Melanie Fiona ;)
I'm pretty lazy typing here, ignoring inverted commas or the artists :)

And of course you and other posters in this thread introduced me to some great music like the tracks above.

As for 'Something stupid' I knew Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's version first. And it was my parents who told me it was a cover.

Just like 'Summer Wine'.

I like the music threads. I've heard lots of new songs that I didn't know about. I wish more people would contribute, especially on the Polish music thread.

'Something stupid' I knew Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's version first

Ah yes, I forgot those two did a cover. As for Summer Wine, I think it's been covered a few times.

This morning, I'm going for something a little heavier:

Royal Blood - Figure It Out

Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way

I didn't know the first one but it's good.
RHCP are classic :)

A video I came across quite recently.
Bon Jovi 'It's my life' -live from home, 2020.
It just sounds so different.

Firstly, can I say that this is not my return to PF.
I will be avoiding the toxic threads and sticking to this and the Polish music thread.
Just two posts tonight, both from the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, this one is about old people (older than me I might add.... LOL!!)

youtu.be/4L_DQKCDgeM

And this is Sigur Ros with a song about kids....
I find this band very inspirational.

Sigur Ros, this one is about old people

I like this one, very haunting melody.

I bet Pam will like this!

Ooh I do! Strangely enough though, his guitar work reminded me slightly of Gary Moore on Parisienne Walkways.

Just two posts tonight, both from the Icelandic band Sigur Ros

I saw Sigur Ros back at V2002, and they were incredible. Easily one of my top 10 bands of all time, I think.

Sorry mate, but Britney is not my kind of thing at all.
You know I like Kingfish and I guessed Pam would like it too.

@delphiandomine
Yeah, there is something a bit special about Sigur Ros, quite different and as you say Pam, sometimes quite haunting.

RIP Peter Green :(

Great Guitarist and song writer, one of the founders of Fleetwood Mac, a great band until he quit.

Then Stevie Nicks totally ruined it afterwards.

Right, I seen that photo of you and there was a Britney poster behind you on the wall!😆😆

Yeah, he was one the truly great artists from the sixties British Blues explosion.

I love this one too, Green Manalishi.

Classic Brit Rock!

Classic Brit Rock!

I've never actually heard that before but I really liked it. The only song I know by them is ' Love like a man'.

A couple of songs I really like plus the originals:-

Moby - Natural Blues

youtu.be/z3YMxM1_S48

Which he put together from this 1937 song by American folk singer Vera Hall. I can't get over how similar their voices are!

Vera Hall - Trouble So Hard

youtu.be/r9SENzRLk_M

I love this song which was covered by Johnny Cash, but was originally done by NIne Inch Nails

Johnny Cash - Hurt

youtu.be/8AHCfZTRGiI

Nine Inch Nails - Hurt

Actually, I am not a great fan of spirits, only drink them on very special occasions and a sad admission from a "Plastic Pole",I am not a great fan of wodka either, but Zubrowska is OK.Mainly red wine and beer with me.... but you might be right, I may have had one too many when I tried to post that video....I am sober now, so we will see if it works tonight!

Ten Years After were an amazing band,I will try to dig out some more stuff from them.

@Chemikiem

Wow!!
Four amazing posts.
Moby's song is one of my favourites, but I never heard the original.
As for the Nine Inch Nails song, great tune, but their original version is pretty weak.
Johnny Cash nails it... a total gem.

Ok, so let's see if I can post a video tonight......LOL!!!!
My last post from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, this is "Rattlesnake Shake" live in Boston.

youtu.be/eq4ehZDuECg

Yeah, it worked, Joker was right, I must have had one too many last night.... LOL!!!

28 Jul 2020  #442

Following on from Joker's post, this is one of my favourite old Ten Years after songs.
"Sugar the Road".

youtu.be/Q098tReKQ0o

In another thread we were talking about foreigners of Polish descent and the Iron Maiden guitarist Janick Gers came up.
Before he made it big he formed a band called White Spirit, I have this single, and though it sounds dated now, it sounds really professional compared to the bands at the time, Iron Maiden, Samson, Angelwitch and even Trespass.

This is "Midnight Chaser" .... Anglo Polish Hard Rock!!! ;-)

People may have very different opinions about Rod Stewart.
But when he was with The Faces he was unbelievable, as this live performance proves.
The Faces with "(I Know) I'm losing you."

youtu.be/UrOPJXrUWII

My last post tonight is from the Orrible OOh as we call them here.
The Who with Eminence Front, partly because it is so different for this band but mainly because it is another gem....

It does sound dated! Saxon were around then and I did like them at the time

SAXON - 747 (Strangers in the Night)

I always liked his earlier stuff although I also played his Atlantic Crossing album to death..........

@Chemikiem

Yeah, I liked Saxon too and still have their "Wheels of Steel" album which has "Strangers in the Night" on it.
I did get to see them live at around that time (1980?) but unfortunately they were awful live.

Bit of a strange mix tonight.......

Low Rider - War

youtu.be/F_iJ28iXwo0

Cat Stevens - Sad Lisa

youtu.be/2mn9cEJjJZE

Carole King - It's too late

youtu.be/VkKxmnrRVHo

Claudine Longet - L'Amour Est Bleu

I reckon you are a bit younger than me Pam, but not by much..... It's OK, I won't say how old I am..... ;-)

All great tunes for different reasons.

I like strange mixes like that, variety is better than blinkered "sameism"...

I am Milo, but I'm never going to put any information on here that could be subject to 'research'. You've seen the outcome of that. I cringe when I see members posting personal information, blissfully unaware that it may well be used against them one day. Besides which, it's my business and mine alone. Having said that, I know that you are only looking at my music choices and making a guesstimate. BTW, I love Robert Johnson's music but it doesn't mean I am over 100 yrs old ;-)

The Claudine Longet song I know as we had some sort of compilation album in our house with that track on it. I always liked the tune.

I like strange mixes like tha

I would say I have pretty diverse taste in music :)

I think you definitely won't like this one Milo, but for me it's another haunting tune that I feel has stood the test of time. Brilliant saxophone solo too.

Hazel o'Connor - Will you?
