DDG and can sing, too...

Whether she can sing is debatable. She certainly doesn't have much of a voice but she was beautiful indeed back in her heyday and had some catchy, well produced songs.

Opera sopranos can sign better. The problem: Only snobs find them amazing. Normal people glance at their watches after 10 minutes...

When it comes to money, our Blondie probably signed better.😄

Only snobs find them amazing.

It depends on what they're singing - some arias are truly beautiful, some less so. My grandfather wasn't a snob and he loved his classical music because he grew up in a time when it was the music of the people. It was the popular music of the Edwardian era, along with the lighter stuff of the Music Hall. The travelling opera companies came to town in those days and everybody knew the songs from the popular operas like Carmen or Marriage of Figaro. Grandad's favourite was La Traviata. When he was young, he and a group of 'pals' as he called them were once arrested for disturbing the peace by singing 'The Drinking Song' from La Traviata as they made their way home from the theatre. Maybe the policeman was a distant relation of yours ;) Everybody has a bit of Irish in them somewhere.

And not all opera singers have beautiful voices. All have technique but some have much better 'instruments' than others.
our Blondie probably signed better.

😂

he grew up in a time when

...people were taking years of singing or acting lessons. Today, "she is acting" is damning and not a compliment. The days of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are over.

YouTube brought true democracy to the art of music. Nobody needs to spend big bucks at singing schools or give blow jobs to be allowed on the world's biggest stage.

A super ugly janitor from Indiana won the last AGT contest by delivering a better rendition than the original.

It starts at 3:30

Not the best in my opinion

It was the best in my "humble" opinion 😉

Here's one back in my youth (early 60's) that was very popular
Look how Americans dressed back then when they went out in public and how the men respected their woman

A nice song. Like an upbeat and less depressing version of The Ballad of Lucy Jordan.

My two year old grandson loves this song and whenever he hears it he is up and dancing!
That's good enough a recommendation for me!!

This is more traditional Country Rock.

It's not just Yanks that can do Modern Country, the Brits can do it too!

I'll end my Country Rock posts with this classic oldie......

The old ones aren't always the best. I'd forgotten this guy; he was on TV a lot when I was a kid.

Despite the accent, he was actually quite posh.

I'd forgotten this one which I liked a lot when it was current. Popular back in the day in Poland. They'd just got famous and then the singer died in a car crash.

I think it's time for PF to get a Soul and Funk injection......

These guys are unbelievable!

A touch of light weight and laid back British Funk.

Back to the USA for this classic!

My last post tonight, hopefully it will be enough to give PF some more Soul and Funk!
