Black Sabbath were the classic Hard Rock band and their guitarist, Tony Iommi, is still RIFFMASTER GENERAL,this song is called "War Pigs" and I think it precisely describes the Russian invasion of Ukraine......WAR PIGS!!!
She was more well-known in the 60s and 70s, for her private life as much as her career as a singer and actress. At one time she was the girlfriend of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger.
Briefly Brit pop 'It' girl in the 60s as girlfriend of Mick Jagger (biggest hit: As tears go by)
Then problems with addiction and inappropriate attachment styles brought a decade or so of obscurity...
Then she made a comeback, not as a mainstream start but as a chanteuse with a high end critic heavy audience... biggest song of that time was probably Broken English
Lived in Ireland for a time (a traditional refuge for burned out English people?)
Dabbled in acting. She had a great cameo on Absolutely Fabulous as God (appeared to Eddie on a mountainside when she almost skied off a cliff.... then appeared to her in chruch, prompting Eddie to derail Saffy's wedding to a rich azzh0le).
Yes because I've been listening to a bunch of remixes of Philly Soul the last few months. Which has led me down a rabbit hole of Philly girl groups and backing singers.

Please.... don't keep them to yourself! Share the wealth! (I'm always into finding out about obscure soul acts I hadn't thought or heard of much before... the field from 64-76 or so is sooooo deep).
In the meantime, here's Florida born soul singer with a song recorded in Miami....
For starters try Jean Carn, the Jones Girls and the Richie Family.
If you can find Thom Bell tracks with his backing singers, the Sweethearts of Sigma they are great - you will need to dig around YouTube though - not really on Spotify except for a few poor solo efforts by Barbara Ingram
Will post a link to the remix albums when I have a bit more time
I'm less into funk and more into more... soulful sounds. African American music has traditionally been strong on rhythm and weaker on melody but the best of soul merges the two seamlessly
Here's a nice example from Gloria Scott... the whole album this is from is prima and very evocative. I imagine driving through Miami at night in a car with purple and green interiors. Sleek and streamlined...
@mafketis With black American music I prefer more up tempo soul or funk, something you can dance to and of course older school blues. But if I'm spotted dancing its time to phone the police or a taxi.

I can and have danced to my fair share of funk but it's not necessarily my favorite dance music...
I have a special fondness for latin music for dancing (I once samba'ed for about 2 hours straight at a Brazilian carnival party in the US... on a sprained ankle.... that led to a few weeks of not being able to walk.... and it was worth it).
My current favorite latin dance style is cumbia, originally from Colombia but popular in many other countries now, each of which adds its own take...
Here's a nice little track, the Mexican group Los Angeles Azules (blue angels) and the Puerto Rican Guaynaa team up and if your body doesn't want to sway and bop with this then you might need a coffin....
