Well, one of the key things about them is that their specialty is their invisibility :) You can actually read about some of their missions but they release limited details because it would compromise them. There were a couple of movies made about some of their missions. But the one that you can see for real ( a small part of it) is the siege of the Iranian Embassy in London, to free the hostages, which was captured by the cameras on live television.

Just pre-covid I made a series of lessons about that, day by day, following it for a week, for my beribboned officers in Africa who very much enjoyed them despite mostly being YouTube stop/start and gapfill stuff. It's a fascinating story, and of course, almost nobody had heard of them before that. And even fewer people had heard of the SBS, rather like the American navy seals only better.

You're really being very silly now. Britain is not Russia and the British government wouldn't play with the lives of those hostages. They sent in the SAS because they were the best men for the job. You do realise that they are part of the British army don't you? You seem to think they're something separate.

I'm not sure of the relationship between the Spetsnaz and the rest of the russian army. Many however have been neutralised permanently as they were sent in right at the start during the worst meat grinder phase of the invasion and also as saboteurs, many of whom were caught and shot on the spot.

They also apparently made several attempts to kill President Zelenskiy, all of them failed attempts.

Despite their reputation, they seem pretty useless. Perhaps they were armed with broom handles like certain other countries use.
