True, Ukraine would not exist without the US. Russia though will not exist as it has been the last 30 years when this is done. Russia does not have the balls to declare war and full mobilization. They do not have the manpower to be an occupying force. While the winter may allow them to dig in if there is no negotiation, in time they will lose everything they have gained because this course of aggression is no longer sustainable. These are just simple facts.

It's their standard behaviour nd yet another reason not to sell weapons to them or buy any petrochemicals at all from them. Those countries who are still doing so should hang their heads in shame.

Russia's performance in Ukraine, their inability to shut down Ukrainian aircraft and air defenses to attain air dominance and their inability to suppress Ukrainian artillery despite a significant artillery advantage has been a rather harsh indicator that Russia's military has a lot of tactical, operational, and even strategic shortcomings.

I don't think you really understand, or maybe you just can't accept, how absolutely terrible Russia's military performance has been this war. They have a massive equipment advantage over Ukraine in many important categories (artillery and airpower stand out but there are others as well) and this is all they have been able to accomplish in half a year. Russia should have been able to win with the type of advantages they had. That is why everyone thought they were going to quickly win the conventional phase of the war when it first started. Right now no one who isn't deluded is telling themselves, "Wow, Russia sure has shown how strong and capable they are in Ukraine!"

I'm not talking about the scandal; NATO is. It's surprising you need to ask, since the issue of which countries pay the required 2% of GDP on defence spending has been much in the news over the past few years.

Britain does. Poland does. The U.S. does. Germany however has been freeloading.

Finally, a sentence that makes sense. For whatever reason, Russia is not fighting a war of survival and is correct in calling it a "special operation". As such, just like our "police actions", is destined to be a loser - defined as a failure to cause the other side to surrender.

My prediction: Russia will keep where it is now. To retreat from this position after all the losses would be off-the-chart unthinkable.
